Dangerous honesty in the dugout

As a nation, the Dutch value the ability to be forthright regardless of the occasion.

In an age of spin and scripted responses, they often reply with refreshing honesty.

That is why the current Sevco manager is always good value in a presser.

Faced with difficult questions, Giovanni Christiaan van Bronckhorst is Dutch from central casting.

Fair play to him.

As regular readers will be aware, this is a manager who recently had a free and frank exchange of views with a member of the Sevco High Command.

He pointed out to the Blue Room chap that if he and his brethren were unhappy with the management team, the club should pay up their contracts!

No matter who replaces  Giovanni, the new person will face the same resources landscape vis-à-vis the city rivals at Parkhead.

Celtic will undoubtedly strengthen in the January window.

Moreover, just like twelve months ago, these new acquisitions are intended to be first-team regulars.

You will note that when asked about new signings, Giovanni mentioned that he was hoping to get players back from injuries.

It is almost as if he has been told there will be no new faces in the door in January!

It is not just the manager who is experiencing some searching questions from the Blue Room.

The current Director of Fantasy has also been asked to explain his performance apropos recruitment.

On the plus side, he rightly pointed out that he identified Bassey and Colak.

There does seem to have been some dispute about who authorised the acquisition of the permanently injured John Souttar.

As ever, failure is an orphan.

If the Dons get something from the next match at Ibrox, the home crowd could get ugly.

If Abdereen scores early on in the game, then there might be no need to organise this.

With the AGM  and the accounts due before the end of the year, the brethren in the Blue Room will want to have some uplifting news for their delightful clientele.

They will not want to experience what a previous regime experienced one chilly day in a cheapo gazebo.

That day the People were definitely revolting.

Indeed, it was the winter of their discount tent.

The volte-face on their manager from this Official Media Partner of the ten-year-old club is really quite something.

Now, if the Sevco High Command manages to come up with the cash to pay off Giovanni and his guys, they would be well advised to have him sign a Non-Disclosure Agreement as part of the package.

I can only imagine how the likeable Dutchman would be in a presser once he isn’t wearing that Castore gear.

  1. A friend told me earlier today that some hack in the SMM, declared today that Celtic are only ahead of Sevco, because Sevco have not played well this season and therefore have dropped more points.
    No shit Sherlock!!!

  2. Celtic lost 3 of their first 6 league matches under Postecoglou but the Celtic fans continued to back their manager and reaped the rewards. Rangers dropped points against Livingston and their fans are screaming for the manager’s head. Spot the difference!

  3. Decent Sevco and former Rangers’ managers are a bit of a rarity…but GVB comes across as a decent guy…. (I had time for the guy Murty as well)
But why he is being blamed for the current malaise affecting performances, however, is beyond me.
From what I gather…. some of the players are not, let’s say, fully committed to the cause…which leaves the Manager vulnerable, to say the least.
But from what I have seen of him in interviews…. he won’t be pressured into anything….so the Sevco Board have a problem on their hands.
Do they back the Manager….or the rabble?
Bottom line is….I don’t care ….as long as it causes more disruption and possible financial upheaval…That’ll do for me.

  4. Fair play indeed: when asked about his own job, he didn’t walk off, like Rodgers did recently.
Gio’s not suddenly become a bad manager, but the sevco manager will be the fall guy, as per.
The skint Blue Room have limited options though.
Maybe best case scenario – if they punt Gio sooner rather than later – is to send him to see McCoist for gardening tips, and appoint a caretaker manager until the summer? [Big Dunc…?]

  5. “the home crowd could get ugly”

Is that not their normal disposition?

To be fair, a silent protest will be a vast improvement, no bigotry for the duration, should be applauded (silently).
