In another dimension in the Fitba Multiverse, Sevco is playing Hearts at Tynecastle.
The match referee has a day job as a PE teacher with the Celtic academy kids.
In the VAR centre is another grade one official whose brother played for the Hoops and declared for the Republic of Ireland.
During the match, there is a handball incident which could be used to describe said offence in a referee’s training video.
Despite this, the penalty is not awarded.
Of course, the very idea that such a scenario would be allowed to happen in Scottish football is risible.
Seeing it now?
Here on the Huddle Breakdown, Alan Morrison of Celtic By Numbers forensically unpicks the insanity of the current situation apropos match officials in Scotland.
The key word he uses is “trust”.
I would add that you must remove doubt to build that precious ingredient.
One of the officials had a professional relationship with Sevco; the other was a sibling of an ex-Rangers player.
Given those connections to the Ibrox brand, they should not have been near any match involving Celtic.
As Alan said, the SFA should not put their officials in this difficult situation where their integrity is being questioned.
In that parallel universe, the Fitba Fourth Estate is fully functioning and would hold power to account.
Sadly, that is not the case here on Planet Fitba.

Just a little word on Celtic and Europe. Musicians on here will know that, in your travels, you come across people who are effortlessly faster, more accurate and more emotional in their their playing. You kind of realise no amount of coaching could get you to that point and it just seems they are blessed with a God given talent. For me the irony is that one player, Hatate is attempting to raise his game to a higher level but gives the ball away 70% of the time as the accuracy is not there. We got a glimpse of what could be with that sublime volley pass from a throw-in recently.
My father had a saying about certain Rangers players, “They can’t play football but they can stop those who can”. The latter, ably aided by the men in black, I might add. Maybe we don’t need to go that far but most people believe Stein created the Lisbon Lions by the introduction of Bertie Auld, who could do both, to an already sublime but soft team which gave them a touch of steel.
I suppose the problem is if another Bertie Auld did exist today even Man City wouldn’t be able to afford him.
“Builiding Trust and Removing Doubt”,
that is what any business should be doing – automatically – for the benefit of its customer base.
However, we know that the Hampden blazers prefer non-communication, inconsistency, opacity
and even shameless secrecy – as evidenced by the infamous 5 Way Agreement.
Both the SFA & SPFL have never been customer focused,
[whilst some clubs seem to be failing on that measure as well.]
Are our blazered administrators capable of evolviing?
Sometimes, cultures can only change with funerals. 🙁
The Celtic board to call it out? No chance as they are frightened of offending their business partners in the south side! unfortunately for us.
Given the rumours regards the very late accounts of the franchise playing out of Ibrox are and how bad they are rumoured to be thus the lateness of them being made public ,you could say them needing help to win the league and the possibility of direct access into champions league a little help would not go amiss regards this situation they face .
Just imagine that was last game of season and that VAR decision cost us the league and the franchise playing out of ibrox won the league by a point .
And Celtic losing out on a direct access to the champions league .
That would be a huge financial loss to Celtic end a huge financial lift over at Ibrox
Just at the right time for them .
Spot on as usual
We will always be at the mercy of honest mistakes despite VAR
Good work bhoys
If referees were to tell what club they supported along with their assistants there would be no referees available for sevco matches as it seems they all share allegiance to teams at ibrokes so imo there will never be a level playing field in Scottish football. With all the help sevco get from cheating referees and the corrupt sfa sevco seem to balls everything up and can’t get ahead of celtic.
We’re paranoid…… but not paranoid enough.
However corrupt we think they are the reality will be even worse .
Despite the legitimacy of your point re the officials, this isn’t about Celtic. The most disgraceful use of VAR at the weekend was the removal of a goal from StMirren. The Sevco employee also gave a dubious penalty to Rangers against StMirren at Ibrox recently. This is about keeping Rangers at the top of the pile in Scotland and ALL clubs in Scotland suffer as a result.
Accountability Phil,
Institutional racism springs to mind…..
The Celtic Board have to call this out.
HH Mo Chara.
“See it now?” – Phil, I wish you would drop this writing style which you now employ so often. It is irritating and patronising. Many of the issues you raise are clearly visible to the majority of the rest of us. Your observations are generally interesting and thought-provoking but I hate being patronised.
If you have lost a stick…iv’e a fair idea where you can find it….
