Despite many Brits being plunged into inconsolable performance grief, it was heartening that it was still Statement O’clock at Sevco.
Firstly the good news.
The UEFA ruling means his wonderful city of Naples will be spared a visitation from the Ibrox klanbase.
Result!
I think that the statement from the European governing body is fair enough, given the policing issues around Grief Fest.
This headline in the Daily Radar didn’t exactly announce the dawn of a new era.

“Rangers fans rage” is pretty much situation normal.
It did, though, remind me of when the original Rangers did not have their fans at an away match in Europe.
A bad day at the office for the lad for sure.
Moreover, it was the last ever appearance of Rangers in the Champions League.
Still, it all worked out well enough for young Whittaker when he died that he didn’t want anything to do with the new club at Ibrox.

Smart move…
This week the succulent suspects in the Stenography Corps and the Sevco High Command will gush about the tremendous ongoing history of Rangers in Europe.
However, we know and, crucially, they know that they’re lying.

For example, has anyone working on the Herald sports desk ever stated that the front page in their paper from June 2012 is factually incorrect?
Have they?

How are Napoli fans who have already bought match tickets and booked flights, hotels etc to be reimbursed.
This is yet another example of the football authorities putting TV and corporate deals before genuine football fans. The game should have gone ahead as originally planned. Delaying by 24 hours and causing traveling fans to lose hundreds of euros, is beyond absurd.
And what about all the Italians that booked flights hotels etc will they be reimbursed by sevco no chance all this grieth porn is disgusting hopefully sevco follow her to extinction
Given that quite a few Napoli fans were making a few days of it in Scotland, could Celtic not offer to show the game on a big screen at Parkhead for the travelling support already there? It would be safer and friendlier than accidentally wandering into the Louden…
Sevco might invite auld Charlie to Ibrox. There could be some unedifying spectacles. The proletarian Klan kissing aristocratic feet would be nauseating. Chanting about a dead empire will always be embarrasing. The ‘Peepul’ can then return to their schemes later, and discover their electricity’s been cut-off. Those damn Tories, and energy bills get in the way of jingoistic bliss. Meantime, Charlie will be back in one of his decadent abodes, waylaying servants, consuming posh delicacies etc.. One very big positive: the good citizens of Napoli won’t need to hear anti-Catholic bile in their fine city next month.
A bit like a “Bears shit in the woods” or “The Pope’s a Catholic” headline. Already widely known information is not a headline.
I don’t understand the 1 day delay. Is there any change in the situation of Police availability between Tuesday and Wed? Maybe sevco pushed for a postponement thinking of a potential 3rd consecutive pumping and Uefa responded with a day’s postponement. CL games are never postponed for any significant length of time. It’s all about the sporting integrity. Sevco should get pumped this week whether or not they’ve just been pumped the 2 previous games.
I accept that Celtic may also get a going over. Hopefully not but sevco entered this CL with delusions of being a European force. Really, all they are is like a good Championship team that will get found out a division above in the Premier League. Bournemouth anyone? Where’s the money?

Great title Phil, just brilliant.
“Rangers fans rage” was the Daily Record headline.
Hundreds of football matches were cancelled over the weekend which would have caused huge inconvenience and loss of income and expenses to clubs and supporters. But under the circumstances causing these cancellations all of those affected accepted the situation. The apparent exception to this this rule appears to be Rangers fans whose automatic default reaction is to “rage”.
