An essential task of a functioning Fourth Estate is to hold power to account.
As regular readers will know, folks at Pacific Quay recently capitulated to Sevco.
Consequently, this boast by an official media partner of the ten-year-old club has a ring of veracity to it.
I contacted a BBC insider about this, and he didn’t demur.
In fact, he was somewhat bleak about the new rapprochement with Ibrox.
“The whole situation is so delicate that it’s in real danger of imploding within the first few months.”
His view was that the Sevco PR strategy of using fan media to put out an abrasive narrative “while simultaneously trying to maintain some form of working relationships with the media” simply wouldn’t work in the long term.
Of course, all of this stems from a collective decision taken a decade ago by the local media in Glasgow to go along with the survival myth.
Here is an official document lodged with the Companies House that is unequivocal about the lie that they all buy into.
You will note the date, dear reader, ten years ago yesterday.
This is not a secret to those who work at Pacific Quay or at any of the major print titles in Scotland.
Consequently, if you are obedient to the Big Brother diktat that Rangers survived liquidation, then that was the day that journalists on Planet Fitba became propagators of an Orwellian lie.
Therefore, it is entirely understandable that the Sevco High Command would want to micromanage the BBC’s output apropos the basket of assets.

Rangers survived liquidation is a Big Lie on par with Trump won in 2020, only in Scotland it’s never debunked for the bogus claim it is. I often wonder why Gretna 2008 and Airdrieonians 2002 did not sue the SFA/SPFL on their Sevco same club Big Lie. Why should they not be called same club by these gutless buffoons and their no basis in law precedent in 2012? Would Heart of Midlothian now be Hearts 2014 if Ukio Bankas had not accepted a CVA, probably yes, no five way agreement for a liquidated Gorgie club. And don’t forget to move along for the good of Scottish fitba on no sporting advantage. Civil unrest if you don’t, see.
IF BBC Sport Scotland had been doing its job – just competently – over the last 10+ years,
then I’d be bothered.
But, BBC Scotland football coverage is – arguably – fast becoming as irrelevant as the Daily Record!
Sadly only to be expected.
The previous incarnation of that club was toxic ,this lot make them look like angels .
Going by that statement by a fans group it looks as if a national broadcaster funded by licence payers is being intimidated to tow the line .
Said obedience has even infested the Celtic match report.

Please can someone enlighten me when Aberdeen scored, as I missed it, or indeed when the Livingston goal was disallowed.
‘Oh what a web we weave when we practice to deceive’… Sir Walter Scott penned that, way ahead of this parcel of rogues and their attempts to breathe life into a corpse. They should be ashamed but they’d need consciousness and self respect firstly, I can’t say I’ve noticed either with them.
Just seems so very apt.
