As others see them

When I was passed this piece written by Alexandros Marchetos, I thought that the name was familiar.

Here is mine from August last year, where I have a link to his work in the same publication.

Back then, he stated quite clearly that “Scottish football does not have a sectarianism problem, it has a Rangers problem”.

His recent piece lays out quite forensically how the supporters of one club have weaponised the child abuse scandal in Scottish football.

It is particularly useful that this analysis comes from an outsider.

As regular readers will know, your humble correspondent has been a sociologist since my undergraduate days.

Consequently, this common-sense inventory from Alexandros on the worldview of the Ibrox klanbase provides a clarity that is beyond the compliant shills in the Stenography Corps.

Here, he doesn’t miss:

“…Sydney can count itself lucky that such a vile supporter base have forced the club to not be a support act for Ange’s Homecoming Tour.”

Not all of those writing about the national game in Fair Caledonia deserve to be convicted of succulence.

Graham Spiers was a lone voice against the Murray regime at Rangers back in the day.

He consistently wrote that the lavish spending at Ibrox would not end well, and he told the truth about the klan’s disgusting songbook.

I once even heard him use the term “anti-Irish racism” on live radio to accurately describe what was actually at the core of the Rangers support.

Yesterday he called out the Blue Room for associating with the delightful chaps at Follow Follow.

However, Graham rather misses the target on this occassion.

I am reasonably convinced that Mr Robertson had little input into this tilt towards fan media at Sevco.

As for the Rainjurzz fifth estate chaps, I would be wary of accepting briefings handed over on plain A4 with no discernible paper trail back to the club.

My investigations have convinced me that the organisers of the Sydney Super Cup are on solid legal ground in the  UK apropos the contractual obligations of the Ibrox club.

I think it appropriate to give the last word to Alexandros about the long-term significance of  this  demonstration of the Dunkirk Spirt by the Sevco High Command:

“In this way, as Celtic branches out globally to their fans and promotes the club to new markets in Australia and Asia, Rangers appears to be content in only being a club for the reactionary of Britain and Northern Ireland.”

  1. As my relatives in Australia said, “in a period of constant bad news re Covid and the war in Ukraine, it was wonderful to hear some good news, that we won’t have to put up with the new club and their Neanderthal supporters.” Unfortunately we in this country will, until the Government finally decides to do something about the disgraceful songs that are a weakly feature of matches at Liebrox. If they were singing that they were “up to their knees in Muslim, Jewish or Black blood, it would be stopped immediately. I will now have a nice single malt whisky and watch the game again.

  2. Clearly the scum supporters of the scummy klub don’t give a tiny rat’s erchie when they were happy to assault a Celtic physio who required stitches in a head wound caused by a missile thrown at him, live on tv. The glass throwing at Joe Hart’s goal is more of a headscratcher when they could have damaged their own players. I suppose they thought that sevco wouldn’t be entering the Celtic penalty area in the second half!

Utter morons who have shown themselves for what they are. Mindless thugs. HH

  3. I read on RangersBanter that they receive ‘dozens of invitation each year to attend and Grace’ ( no laughing at the back) tournaments all over the world. Is anyone able to provide details of these ‘dozens of tournaments’ ?

  4. I can’t believe that the Aussie Rangers fans would choose to misbehave in their own country as their Scottish fans do in Scotland and when travelling to European matches. The other Aussies wouldn’t tolerate it and the Rangers fans wouldn’t be allowed to live it down. My brother, a lifelong Celtic fan, now lives in Oz and I know that he wouldn’t dream of doing anything to disgrace his club in his adopted country.

  5. So far as the Australian trip is concerned, they have reneged on their responsibilities and may well face yet another court case but, given their past behavior, it won’t make a blind bit of difference, if found guilty, they will follow the usual pattern and not accept the judgement.Sports direct won their case almost two years ago but, up until now, not a penny has changed hands, just like there liquidation and demise, they simply refuse to acknowledge reality and carry on with their ridiculous “ same club” notions.

      • You would like to think they’re not above the laws of the land, but I personally see very little evidence of either the club, or its toxic support, ever being held to account for their actions.

  6. Presumably the Ibrox brand of constant withdrawals from signed contracts, plus endless litigations, will have them be treated like Typhoid Mary for any future invitations any company or firm may have.

  7. Its all very convenient for the Klan and the SMSM to whitewash over the old clubs history with respect to the kind of shameful events that happened there. No need to mention anything else as its all out there in public forum. They only want to try and claim the old clubs titles, many of which were tainted by cheating and one was just a halved title, without wishing to accept the debts and crimes as well.

  8. Is there an additional risk to sevco from pulling out of this mini tournament?

Presumably, the tournament would have to be sanctioned by a football governing body, e.g. the Aussie FA?

If sevco was to renege on a football commitment, could this eventually ‘crystalise’ 😉 as a ‘football debt’?

At the very least, Bisgrove’s blazer must be on a shoogly peg?
