A sense of entitlement summit at Hampden

How many material decisions does it take to go against Sevco before they take their complaints to Hampden?

ONE.

Looking at the Pittodrie game again, they could only have a legitimate beef about the second yellow for Ryan Kent.

Indeed, their goal came immediately after Aberdeen were denied a penalty of the stonewall variety.

The Dons momentarily switched off as the ball was played upfield.

The Kent sending off was unjust.

It was never a second yellow.

The aftermath of the red was top class performance art from Broony.

I’m sure if my pals in the data analysis world had a metric for “wind up merchant”, then Scott Brown’s numbers would be off the chart!

In fairness, those two have some history.

It does show the compliant inertia of the Grey Brigade in the Celtic boardroom.

The litany of Honest Mistakes against the Hoops could be a box set.

Despite this, the chaps at the top table in Celtic AGMs study their shoes when the issue is raised from the floor.

Remember dear reader, it took ONE material decision to go against the Rainjurrzz for the Sevco High Command to make their displeasure known.

If that doesn’t evoke a sense of entitlement, I don’t know what does.

Meanwhile, Sevco’s new manager is still refreshingly off message.

Here he swats away softball questions and answers truthfully.

He was entirely on the level when he said he didn’t know how his squad would look at the end of the window.

That’s because the Director of Fantasy has been told to generate cash from player sales.

Of course, that subject is off-limits to the Stenography Corps.

If there was a functioning Fourth Estate on Planet Fitba there would only be one story today.

A robust media would be challenging why Sevco get an audience at Hampden when they drop two points.

If this…err…courtesy was shown to every other club then these sit-downs at Hampden would be a permanent feature at that place.

Given what happened to Willie Collum after Sevco’s last pram kicking incident there it will be interesting to see if Clancy is cancelled.

  1. Andrew Dallas doesn’t seem to have been rewarded with many Sevco games after his magnificent award of FOUR penalties against St. Mirren. Perhaps they’re looking for MIBs who can be a bit more subtle.

  2. It’s worked before for the entitled ones so why wouldn’t they go for it again by applying pressure to the whistlers? They need help wherever they can get it and dropping 2 points must have been a biased refereeing decision and not the fact that they were rank.
The wantaways are still there and there’s not a lot of noise about getting squillions for Hagi or Morelos coming from the smsm now. The future is still in doubt until they can manage to offload some of their own considered best and bring in some cash to keep the meter fed until the end of the season.

I hope that when the refereeing decisions on the Don’s game are looked at then they’ll see the glaring omission of awarding a penalty to the Don’s and the sending off of McGregor who aimed his body right at the player and was nowhere near the ball!

That man Broonie only has to smile to get them raging and the cracks are beginning to appear as Celtic’s shopping spree continues to bolster their squad.

The Celtic Board will continue to say nothing about the biased refereeing that has cost us points season after season and ww will continue to shake our heads in disbelief. HH

    • Ones as bad as the other nowt to do with fitba spill their guts at any sense of grievance cringe worthy having attended hibs Tic final Mr Beaton handed yous first bit silverware woeful refereeing. Being a non old firm supporting you just suck it up it took real men like Ferguson n McLean to stand up to the powers n the 2 ugly sisters.
Worst thing Hibs ever done loan Celtic a 100 pound to start up first to wear the hoops n Europe before either had floodlights

  3. Every time something like this comes up I have a laugh to myself. The very thought that either of the Glasgow teams don’t get the ” rub of the green” when playing EVERY other team in the league is absolutely astonishing!
Celtic get as much ” help” as Sevco but whenever this comes up the rage from Celtic fans about how Sevco are better treated shows how little they look at games from a neutral point of view. Yes we are all biased to our own clubs but even then honest supporters can say wow we got away with that one.
The only two teams that consistently benefit from ” honest ” mistakes by officials come from Glasgow, the only time we see a slightly even playing field is when they play each other.
You only have to watch both teams in Europe where the officials don’t have a leaning to one or the other to see how games here should be officiated.

    • So you’re ignoring the statistics? The best one I heard that cos Rankers spend more time in the box it stands to reason they’ll get more penalties, drivel. Check out Barcelona stats in the box and it comes nowhere close to Rankers.

    • Really? Take every single penalty out of the score in each game Celtic have been awarded one and their points total is exactly the same. No results would have been altered. Celtic would still have won the games.

Take the penalties out of the score in each game sevco have been awarded one and they’re ELEVEN POINTS worse off. This is not counting offside goals awarded to them nor taking into account sendings off of opposition players, good goals chopped off and blatant penalties denied opposing teams.

  4. It’s a pity Clancy didn’t send off el donkey for acting like a jumping fish in one tackle and then rolling about holding his shin on another when it was his foot that the contact was made the guy is an embarrassment he’ll soon go down and won’t be able to get up the beached 🐋

  5. It doesn’t matter is the 2nd yellow was justified, it is more about getting the SFA to jump to attention when Sevco calls them out.
Secondly it amazes me that both the club it’s fans actually believe that Referees are biased against them. Just goes to show how widespread their detachment from reality really is. It seams that the mental health crisis in Scotland is even worse than previously
    believed.

  6. They’re already working on their next complaint.

“Why were they only awarded two penalties in the first half?”

“Why was the keeper allowed to save the second one?”

“Why were they not awarded any in the second half?”

Why did the commentator go off script when he said “The return of Balogun is great news for US!!! Such a casual comment could lead neutral fans to suspect that not everyone is against us.”

  7. The out come of the meeting, if reports are to be believed, is that Sevco are to be awarded a penalty at the start of both halves. To brook any opposition the other team are being allowed to choose which of their players is to be sent off although the timing of this is to be decided by Sevco in the interest of fairness.

  8. If SFA were to allow the other clubs this dialogue they would require to set up a regular weekly meeting to meet clubs that Rangers had played the previous weekend.
This seems all the more ridiculous when it has been established that Rangers get more penalties awarded for them and less against them than any other club. I have tried discussing with their fans, reasonable people, and after being accused of being a Celtic fan, which I inform them I am not, they get all upset and huffy- a sure sign they knew I was right.

  9. I keep hearing there was no contact made in the kent tackle on brown
    THERE WAS
The same guff was spouted in the bbc sportscene highlights of the penalty in the Celtic game
The commentry (comictry) team kept saying it came off the hibs players chest and then hit his arm
    IT DIDN’T .
did scott brown make the most of the kent challenge ,yes he did .
He wound Kent up and reeled him in like a flapping fish .
Just as he did at CP a few yrs ago
Which led to kent punching him and which kent escaped the red that day

  10. A move totally designed to create the narrative that they are hard done by. A blatant attempt to bully referees into NOT giving major decisions AGAINST them. The press and SFA should call it out for what it is. Neither will of course. It will actually probably work.

  11. Haven’t seen the incident so will not comment, but did see pictures of Kent doing the wanker motion to Broony before he applauded Kent going off.

  12. Will they as in the Rangers international football club 2012 include the sly comment Kent made to Scott Brown as he passed by him when heading off the pitch ? Just like they all heard the comment made to Glen Kamara and rightly so they reported it however will they be asking players close by if they heard what Kent said? there last red card in a league match was handed out in December 2019 ,it has taken 370 days for the new club to receive there next red card and they have the brass neck to complain .. maybe the SFA should be looking at why it has taken so long .. i wont be holding my breath .

  13. We can laugh at their sense of entitlement but the chances are that it will work ie less (if that’s possible) penalties and red cards against them and more for.

    Result for the bad guys.

You’re being unfair in saying the Grey Brigade do nothing, as they tell AGMs they constantly monitor the situation and sometimes (gasp) they even (quietly) write a letter to outline our “concerns”, which get a private and polite “sod off” reply.

No result for the good guys.

  14. Your totally wrong about the 2nd yellow for Kent, left his foot in with no intention of playing the ball cause he was so late into the challenge, totally warranted a 2nd yellow.
Is it only worth a yellow if contract is made and injury caused?
The game has long needed cleaning up to improve standards in Scottish football yet fail to see how the scum can apply that as there still not capable of doing so.

    • McGregor and Morelos should also have been sent off!

Morelos had a two handed push on Brown that went unpunished and his hand ball prevented a goal scoring opportunity so should have been a straight red. Same with McGregor who made no attempt to win the ball, so straight red.

Poor Sevco, so hard done by!

  15. I think the 2nd yellow was justified, he goes in leg high and broony had to jump out the way. Dangerous intent is a yellow. The only thing that I feel was missed was JH elbow, possible yellow. Apart from that nothing. Clancy had a great game 😁

    • Completely agree that Kent’s second yellow was merited – he follows through with his right foot and contact is made well after the ball has been played. Agree that Hayes’ contact with Barasic could have been a yellow. However that oversight is nothing in comparison to the obvious penalty he denied to Aberdeen.

    • This goes to the root of self entitlement which has always emanated from Ibrox.
The Soutar transfer saga, if proof be needed, is confirmation that the financials are not what the club, and their media enablers, would have us believe.
Despite the squillions from Villa for Patterson, another few hundred thousand quid to seal the Soutar deal now, seems to be beyond them.
I believe that the indicators are that another important player, Aribo?, will go before the window closes with perhaps some of that money actually going to bring in a new face.

      • The Everton Accounts will I believe she’d some light on this £16m that’s been trumpeted around the MSM.
Interesting is it not that a new £16m wonder kid signing never even made the bench yesterday amd never even made it off it in the previous game?
Are the appearance add ons time barred or is it the case he’s not quite at the level some seem to think he was?
I think The 2angers out of desperation to balance their books have made two massive errors of judgment in this window.
1 Letting their best prospect go at Right Back whilst keeping a 30 year old who isn’t a great right back.
        2 Letting Defoe go.
Tie will tell if both calls were right but Jota will torture Tavernier and Itten is nowhere near Defoes level as a striker.
