As I have written here many times, you must always follow follow the money to discern what is happening at Ibrox.
Earlier I spoke with a very well-placed source who could sketch in a lot of the background regarding the departure of Mr Let’s Go.
Here is what he told me:
A week before the RIFC accounts were published, there was a high-level sit-down of the Sevco High Command.
Mr Gerrard was in attendance with his assistant.
My information is that it became apparent that the ex-Liverpool icon thought that the dignified conclave was to discuss strengthening the squad in January.
Instead, the others around the table had a very different agenda.
What the Blue Room chaps wanted to know from their manager was how they could make cuts without it having a negative impact on the pitch.
In other words, they wanted to know what players Mr Gerard could afford to lose without it subverting the team.
It was stressed that any gaps in the squad would have to be plugged in January by loan deals or free agents.
This will not come as a surprise to my regular readers.
Since the Malmo game at Ibrox, it has been apparent that austerity would be required at Sevco.

The recent RIFC accounts make it clear and remember that is the best possible gloss that the Sevco High Command could put on the financial reality there.
The reason that I’m sharing this news now is the quality of the source.
Of course, a cynic might conclude that there is some direct causal connection between this dignified sit-down and Mr Gerrard then meeting with his agent shortly afterwards.
I, of course, couldn’t possibly comment.

What IS undeniable is that Stevie G is gone gone gone.

What is also true is that his successor will almost certainly have very meagre resources to take on a far richer opponent across the city.

Taking the reins at a club in danger of relegation shows how keen Slippy was to be done with a klub in danger of liquidation. HH
Downgrading the coaching department, will that reflect on player’s bahaviour. Stevie away will they want to jump ship also.
Just to give y’all nightmares. What price a £30 million Aston Villa bid for Kyogo?
Be interesting to see if El Duffalo follows him
I always thought it was quite obvious that SG did not like Morelos. As a Sevco asset he invariably tried to keep him sweet and smiled/ tolerated him, but through gritted teeth. There is absolutely no way now that he would entertain the scowling manchild at Villa.
Extremely high stakes now. Do they sell players (assuming anyone want them) in January or go for the 30million CL money? Gerrard must really have been hacked off to take on the huge gamble of Aston Villa. As you say elsewhere Beale is the brains of of the outfit and I doubt he would have taken on AV without him. Even still, they have the worst record in the league over the past 5 games and are currently in free fall. Who is available in January and you will pay way over the odds with fellow strugglers Newcastle also in the market. I will be surprized if anyone other than McInnes takes over at Sevco. Interesting times.
Murty ahoy
He knocked them back before and was then described by the Lying King as clearly not up to the pressures of the job. It would take a huge climb down by both sides.
Thanks Phil et al. Why couldn’t or didn’t Rangers2 trade players?
Don’t get it at all.
Look at Sevco’s squad. Who’d want to buy any of them? Even at the poundland fire-sale prices on offer at a club that everyone knows is desperate for cash to keep the lights on. The club can’t #give# these duffers and hammer-throwers away.
Buying players isn’t an option for Tribute Act Rangers. It’s skint. The club’s financial problems – growing debt, unsustainable business model – have been extensively reported and explained on this blog.
Sorry Super but it doesn’t make sense to me, whatever nick they’re in. Every business should be ready for a hit.
Cheers
If I were a high championship/low Premier league English team I’d definitely put in a lowish bid for Kamara. Low risk in English money terms and I do think he’s a tidy player. Golds on and Helander could be decent enough CBs too and Barisic in the right team (formation/system) would be an asset. But the point is I wouldn’t pay a lot for any of them, because you don’t run a business by ignoring your advantage in the negotiations.
