Old Sevco’s walls

Through my activism in the National Union of Journalists, I know many highly experienced PR professionals.

Some of them left journalism to work on the other side of the fence.

Others are graduates in communications and have only ever worked at that end of the media industry.

I contacted two of them this week about the most recent PR disaster to emanate from Ibrox.

I was able to tell them that an outside PR form had been brought into firefight the mess.

Without giving my NUJ colleagues any further information, they both said more or less the same thing:

“Turn off the tap”.

Speaking with one professional voice, their analysis was that the Heart and Hand  Daily Record expose was such a shit show for the Ibrox club that the only sensible PR response was to wait until it had blown over.

The featured image is the sort of coverage that communications professionals are hired to PREVENT.

My information is that the hired PR contractors who the Serious Professional brought in gave the same advice as my two colleagues.

That the club should remain silent on this issue until this news cycle passed.

Therefore, I can only imagine the dismay in the Blue Room at this dignified offering today.

Dear reader, this is the PR equivalent of being in a hole and ordering an extra-large shovel from Amazon.

Here is Mr Edgar being alternatively reasonable on Twitter yesterday.

Now, in fairness, it is slightly newsworthy that Messrs Bell and Hogg have been sent away for some Quintessentially British therapy to cure them of their hatreds.

I wish both of them well.

Now, if the Daily Record wants to further look into Mr Edgar, then this piece in Bella Caledonia by your humble correspondent carries a couple of handy pointers.

Clue:

Famine Song

However, if Mr Edgar’s conspiracy theory apropos the Daily Record and his nine-year-old football club are correct, then Sevco’s OTHER official media partner is also a treasure trove of bile.

All the Record guys need to do is to Follow Follow the hatred.

Winning friends on the journey…

  2. Phil, seems they needed a quick 16k on 1st of Month – another quick sell of 80000 shares at 20p. I wonder if the gullibillies noticed that they were charged 25p a share only a few weeks ago.. Ah well – the value of your investment can go down as well as up…

  3. Phil, I read the article about the failed share issue in Private Eye today. It says the shares were going at 25p a share. You’ve posted pictures of loans for shares at a price a fraction of that. Is this legal?

    • As Sevco are delisted, any sale of shares isn’t regulated by the market and there is no independent Nomad overseeing the propriety of such matters. Their shares trade on J P Jenkins on a matched bargain basis, which to my limited understanding means there is no requirement for any uniformity regarding share price and the shares trade for whatever price the seller and buyer agree upon. My apologies to anyone if I have misunderstood matters.

  4. Someone ought to tell Edgar that two wrongs do not make a right.
The underlying issue which sparked all of this- and is conveniently being deflected from- is why the newco saw fit to pioneer a £25k charge for media access? They’re not shy about issuing outright bans to outlets when they perceive slights or (rare as rocking horse shit) face honest coverage, so I don’t perceive it as a means to curbing access. What other possible reason?…..💰

  5. Oh Phil if only they would just die and go away and make Scottish Football relevant. With “the rangers” our country are always going to be held back in another century!! Keep at them my friend.

      • That would depend on whether said Director had a bottomless pit of money to keep throwing at it surely Phil?
A fool and their money are soon parted of course but not many successful businessmen tend to be so foolish as to ruin themselves over a game of fitba 🤷🏻‍♂️

After all a jobby rolled in glitter is still a jobby no matter how much glitter it’s rolled in every year by the media and Clumpany.

        Tick Tock 💣
