Trying to control the damage control at Sevco

Oh, dear.

It has not been a good day at Sevco towers on the damage control front; it really hasn’t.

Now, I’ve just been told that the dignified communiqué dealing with videogate came as something of a surprise to some members of the Sevco High Command.

At times like this, I do feel for the Serious Professional.

After all, it is he who has to deal with irate calls, in this case from one of the Stateside Brethren, about the work experience PR from their Ulsturr Scatch PR superhero.

My information was that once the dignified video was out there, it was decided that they should work on some kind of holding statement.

The usual procedure is that these official messages to the outside world are drafted, parsed then signed off on.

Fairly basic stuff, in fairness.

However, my very well placed source told me that as the wording was being kicked around, the statement was put out without it being agreed up the chain of command.

Oops!

Let’s just say that the videogate statement has made things very difficult for the succulent shills in the Stenography Corps.

Very difficult indeed.

However, for the avoidance of doubt, I have no knowledge, technical or otherwise, as to the authenticity of that piece of footage.

  1. They argue the audio is faked. I have no idea, but I’m sure computer whizzes are adept at determining this very sort of thing and the police in 2021 probably have some on staff.

But the video isn’t faked. And that shows huge numbers indoors, drinking, not socially distancing. The flak celtic took over Dubai was prolonged and, in my view, warranted. But no laws were broken. This is a different matter. The presence of the players and wider staff alone is a criminal matter. The anti Catholic bile is a separate issue. Sevco will try to conflate the two, especially if they’re going with the fake audio defence. This must not be allowed.

  2. They say they are confident that no criminality took place. They are clearly breaking the law with their indoor drinking, so clearly there is criminality.
    That’s before the FTP chants.
Will the SFA be handing out fines for breaching covid rules.

  3. Phil if they say the officials and players never sung the Anti Catholic phrases all they have to is release the original video taken by a Rangers Fan/ employee/guest and that will solve the matter.

  5. There are two things here, if the video is fake, then those who did that should be punished. If however the video is real, then uefa should come in hard, as rangers will have lied about it. I have watched the video and the song has pauses in it. So when the people start singing in time with the lyrics then if it is fake they are very good. Rangers are claiming it’s fake, then they must prove it…..
