The Ibrox illness

After the entirely predicable klan riot comes the shameful spin.

Sevco has issued a statement, and you can read it here.

However, just in case it suffers some cyber mishap, here is the text in full:

WINNING our 55th league title in our 150th year was a historic day for Rangers Football Club. The support from millions of our fans across the world has been incredible.

The achievement by Steven Gerrard and his team has received plaudits from across the football family, including recognition by sports writers, opposition players and managers.

We are grateful to Scottish Government officials, Glasgow City Council and Police Scotland for the constructive engagement in the lead up to the weekend’s game. We worked closely with the authorities for two weeks before Saturday’s match to ensure a consistency of message.

Sadly, a small minority of people behaved inappropriately and in a manner not reflective of our support. Some of the scenes were unacceptable and have besmirched the good name of Rangers Football Club. These so called “fans” should reflect upon the values and ethos of our club, and consider the damage this does to the reputation of the club.

We will continue to engage with authorities as required.

Yes, dear reader, you read that right the first time.

Sadly, a small minority of people behaved inappropriately and in a manner not reflective of our support.

Actually, the rioters in George Square are the very embodiment of the Ibrox  subculture:

Herrenvolk hubris, racism, and lynch mob violence.

“….besmirched the good name of Rangers Football Club.”

Good grief.

The rest of Fair Caledonia knows the inconvenient truth and that the fascist street there in George Square is exactly what defines the Ibrox subculture.

Anti-Catholic hatred and anti-Irish racism have been the source code of modern Scotland since the middle of the 19th century.

The Ibrox matchday experience is not the cause but a very visible manifestation of those traditional hatreds.

Yesterday the political leaders of nice new fluffy Scotland could mention the anti-Catholic hatred but not anti-Irish racism.

It would appear that the latter remains a hatred that dare not speak its name.

I think I know why.

Calling out that particular racism would inevitably lead the Holyrood political elite to finally recognise the existence of the multi-generational Irish community in their country.

Meanwhile, klanAnon feel that they are unfairly singled out.

If only they could be left to riot in peace.

Of course, the succulent shills on the sports desk and the usual suspects in the political elite will hide behind the “tiny minority” fantasy.

However, the vast majority of decent people in Scotland know the truth.

It is worth noting that we also suffer from the same cultural virus on this island.

Sadly, publicly funded NGOs in Scotland who should know better also cannot name this Ibrox illness accurately.

However, the fact remains is that Scotland has a fascism problem, and it wears a Sevco top.

Until the authorities and wider civil society decide to act, then all that the decent folk of Alba can do is avoid them at all costs.

You will know them by their noise.

And their sense of entitlement.

And their violence.

And their racism.

  1. Sadly , but not surprisingly the official statement from ibrox states the words ” small minority of people ” when referring to the sickening images from our city centre . Please observe how many times the words ” small minority ” will be used by our media and politicians regarding the issue. 15,000 of the blue horde were there spouting their usual bile and bigotry . How wreckless
and inconsiderate is that . Also sevco players singing FTP , and sectarian remarks against zander clark , shocking ,,,,,
err or maybe not . Everyone anyone , you are only kidding yourself sevco .

  2. Phil, dont know if you caught the start of Clyde SSB tonight but Hugh Keevins actually referenced the racist/racism behavior of the Sevco fanbase. Hunbelievable I know!!!
Have you considered a Freedom of Information request to Police Scotland to ascertain if there is an active enquiry into the lawless behaviour of the Ibrox klanbase 6 weeks ago in George Square.
    If there is,
How many people have been identified from CCTV or any other means?
How many people have been arrested?
How many people have been charged?
    Has anyone appeared in court?
On another note, how many police officers were on duty, did the Force apply for mutual aid from other Forces in Scotland?
Interesting to see how they respond!!
    Hail hail!!

  3. Dave King would be proud of that Ibrox statement above: 4 blatant whoppers in the very first paragraph!
55th, 150th, Rangers Football Club – and “millions of our fans across the world”.

    But that pales into insignificance, now that Rod Petrie, SFA President, has emerged from the Hampden bunker to give his tuppence worth;

“The Scottish FA has recently issued its equality, diversity and inclusion strategy, Football Unites. Events on Saturday at George Square served only to depict our game in the poorest light and we condemn the behaviour in the strongest terms.

We empathise with fans who have been deprived of attending matches throughout this pandemic. That, however, does not excuse the behaviour of those who brought chaos to the streets in the name of football this weekend.”

This coming from the architect of the ‘5 Way Agreement’: a secret agreement to manufacture a ‘continuation Rangers’.
To continue the blue pound revenues – and to continue the bad behaviours associated with Ibrox.

…and having the SFA quoted in the same sentence as equality, diversity and inclusion is just offensive! 🙁

  4. Police Scotland should have told sevco to open ibrox. Let them all in there to “celebrate”. And don’t open the gates until they were all sober. HH

  7. As Scotland becomes more secular and more inclusive, the Klan realise that their superiority and influence is on the wane.

They’re hurting as they realise that the demographic in the West of Scotland is changing and they are no longer in the majority.

As with the SPADs, they now like to portray themselves as some sort of victims. They’re wounded and, like any wounded WASP, they’re at their most dangerous when they’re dying.

As the events of Saturday in George Square demonstrated, they’re poor losers but even poorer winners.

    Hail and Hail again!

  8. One more thing if I may?
Why has an Official Agreement that has affected every Club and therefore Supporter in Scotland remained an unofficial secret for 9 years?
Where is the Agreement in full and more importantly the minutes from that meeting?
Supporters should unite and demand that it is disclosed.
If they have nothing hide then why does it remain hidden?

  9. I don’t often agree with everything you say in these types of articles Phil but credit where credit is due you have fairly and squarely hit the nail right on the head with this one.
I would urge all who are actively pushing for an Independent Scotland to consider what that might mean for you (and me ) as a Catholic,Celtic Supporting descendant of an Irish immigrant who escaped the ravages of famine in Ireland.
For if the Police and Government can’t seem to protect your heritage or identity within the confines of a Union which claims to find these things abhorrent in a Modern Day United what chance have you got in an Independent Scotland more or less run by these same Peepel ?

I should think the carnage would accelerate as the Brotherhood of Bam react to the destruction of all that they truly hold dear.
    Think on.
Perhaps more devolved powers and forcing those in power to exercise them in a United Kingdom might be a safer option going forward?
Don’t kid yersel that Glasgow won’t become a poor copy of 70’s Belfast once that particular genie escapes the bottle of 2020.
The white gloves will well and truly be off.

    • We are an 18% minority in Scotland and you are saying that we would be better of staying in the current Union Jack waving United Kingdom as a 5% minority.

      I don’t get your logic.

I can’t wait to see the saltire of Saint Andrew fly over Scottish sportsmen and women instead of that poxy butcher’s apron of a Union Flag.

Have the courage to take on these racist bigots and show the world what they really stand for.

    • Couldn’t disagree more with the last comment. The longer we stay in the unworkable Union the more the hun clings to his horrid past. Once the Union is dissolved they have nothing and Scotland can get on with changing the mindset that hold us ( them) back in the 17th century. Westminster is not going to help us out of this, Scots must face the issue and deal with it once and for all.

    • Plenty of food for thought in that post although I would like to think that we should face adversity down whenever it is as blatant as we seen at the weekend. It looked more like sedition and a threat when you read the comments on some of the social media sites.
Our Political Leaders really have to take on these thuggish gutter rats and the assertion that it is a minority who are doing this.
They have given you a benchmark of what exactly what Everyone Anyone means on Sunday it was exactly that.

      • With reference to their players singing adapted sweet Caroline song, if it has been doctored as per the defence given, then the two players/staff that were recording the singing can very easily clear this up by submitting their phones to Police Scotland. They can then clarify and provide original footage.

But the bigger question is why the club appear to have adopted this song when Eufa threatened to close down Ibrox to their fans after those same fans were heard singing this anti catholic version at a match with Feynrood.

Likewise what version of the song was Morelos dancing to in the Livingston sway changing room and why did Steven Gerrard highlight this on Sky Sports? As manager, is he trying to state that he is unaware of the significance and adapted wording of this song by his club’s supporters?

  10. 55 this, 55 that.

A new benchmark has been sent with The Rangers being Anti Racist for a full 58 days, and nights.

    Slavia Prague until Glasgow Square.

    Another world record?

  11. Im flabbergasted that a club who still owe around 140 million to various others following liquidation, can still publicly call itself the same 150 year old team.

If I’m correct…tbe newco has a registration with the Sfa which began in 2012 and is not RFC.
Similarly they have a diffrent UEFA registration from the deadco which was obtained in 2015/16 having completed 3 years (as required by Uefa), as part of an association league…
They could not claim the Setanta tv money because they were not RFC …who were the team part of the Setanta deal at the time.
The newco could not compete in two arranged games because at the time they were not registered and therfor did not exist as a football team.
Then theres the matter of the players who played for RFC….the newco could not get compensation for the guys who left because they did not have a contract with the new club….and the players who stayed had to get new contracts from the new club.

If they are the same team…are they notrespinsible for the debt..??

Are they not entitled to keep the stadium and murray park which were bought by the new business which formed the new club ?

Its all convenient for them to claim continuity and 55 titles etc…..but the tax and liquidators should be pursuing the same club if it is si, for all its monies due.

  12. I get where they are coming from, when you have 300 million supporters world wide, three thousand bad ones in Glasgow are a small minority.
Sadly this minority crap get wheeled out every time there is a problem.
I can see the problems for Police Scotland, however they should have used any means to disrupt the crowd before they marched on the square. Tear gas and water cannons would have moved many on.
Much better to break it up early than allow such scenes to happen.
As for the SG, they should have come out earlier to dispel the myth of continuity. New club with no history would have ended the 55 myth too.

    • The problem is that the intellectually challenged delinquents rewrite history to suit their agendas of entitlement and unfortunately the mainstream media and football governance have allowed it to persist for 30 pieces of silver. Shame on them.

    • If this planned march into the city centre had been BLM or Celtic Supporters, the police would have adopted much more aggressive tactics. All the usual cavalry and Riot Police who have proved so efficient with women holding candlelit vigils. Compliance by some of the smiling officers having selfies smacks of Capitol Building policing insurrectionists.
As well as that, after seeing the Rangers players singing FTP during their celebration ‘Sweet Caroline’ I would like to withdraw my previous and unconditional support for Kamara whose total hypocrisy has been highlighted in the video and any other Rangers player who suffers racism but celebrate their own racism, sectarianism and bigotry; live by the sword, die by the sword!.
      ‘Herrenvolk’ indeed!

      • It’s hardly a surprise to see fans who rioted in Manchester after a loss, and again in Barcelona after a win, once again run amok, in Glasgow for the 2nd time in a few weeks.
Both the former cities have made it clear that the Ibrox clubs fans will not be sold tickets if either is drawn against Rangers in future European matches.
The mayor of Manchester couldn’t have summed it up better at the time than to declare that the Rangers mob caused more damage to the city than the Luftwaffe during the 2nd world war.
Can’t help but think that whoever is responsible for the video and it’s release may not have Rangers best interests at heart yet found himself in the inner sanctum after the trophy presentation.
No doubt the hunt is on for the ‘culprit’, very interesting.

        • 15,000 fans, sorry, bigoted, racist lowlife, is ONE THIRD of their usual matchday attendance so certainly not a minority never mind a ‘small minority’! Then you have the individuals who were not there (a 60 year old next door neighbour of 20 years of my 85 year old mum) who responded to her news that two more great grandchildren were on the way by stating: “You lot just want to rule the world”! Him and his wife are ST holders at The New Rangers club. He also erected a new wooden red, white & blue New Rangers (or should that be Ragers?!) garden ornament. This depicts a little ginger haired chap in The Hoops being kicked by a gentleman wearing a blue top! Racist connotation? They just cannot help themselves, where I am sorry but I thank the Lord my three weans were brought up in another country. Before leaving Scotland 36 years ago due to employer instructions, I suffered many times with the problem within Scottish society at both business and pleasure levels, where I’ve recalled these anti catholic / anti Irish incidents many times to amazed folk. They just find it unbelievable! Nothing has changed since but in this multi cultural world that we now live, something has to change……
