This season will end without a trophy for the club that recently completed a quadruple treble.
That in itself is remarkable.
Football finance expert David Low put it rather well.
I am fully aware that Celtic’s heretofore omnipotent CEO still has his defenders in the Parkhead blogosphere.
Regular readers will know that your humble correspondent was never a part of that succulent ensemble.
Even before the final whistle was sounded today, I was moved to Tweet this.
I will leave it to others to conduct the autopsy on Celtic’s abject surrender of the trophy they have won on the last four seasons.
The death of Rangers in 2012 presented the Parkhead club with a historic opportunity to construct an unassailable position for the Hoops.
Instead, it was discarded because of the myopia of the bean counter.
Next season Sevco will have a seeded route to the riches of the Champions League Group stages.
A game-changing amount of revenue.
That is the Lawwell legacy.
Not pretty, is it?
Der Rangers have risen from the ashes, and we have ourselves to blame, if the boot was on the other foot they would indeed have buried us.
They were allowed to get away with cheating to gain titles previously before they went bust 12 years ago, we have to watch the so called 55 years of the most successful club in the world all over social media and the press. This mob definitely don’t do embarrassment.
Villages and Streets in Scotland being painted red white and blue, with flags on lamp posts like the 12th in good auld 6 County Ulster. For the glorious 55
We indeed used the cheap option to stay in front, with the exception of Brendan Rogers, that then imploded with our demise to a spectacular finish this year.
We have watched poor signings arrive as penny pinching was more to the fore, than signing players that have went on to treble in value in some cases.
Supporters demonstrating, and falling out over board decisions that left a manger to carry the can.
Neil Lennon was made the scapegoat for there pathetic decisions in the transfer market and running of the club, for all the duds that sat on the bench or in the stand, a couple of top quality players could have been brought in.
Some of Neil’s decisions might have been wrong but he did not deserve the hatred directed towards him.
Yes I also though Neil’s time was up, but he was left out to dry by the men who employed him, to deflect from there short minded future for the club.
Everyone and there Granny knew the spine in our team was doomed to failure early season, but no attempt was made to rectify it.
Nobody at a higher level has come out and apoligised for the most spectacular crash in modern day football, Where is the statment Mr DD, we cannot now even get a manager across the line at the moment.
Looks like the same failure policy might still be the order of the day at Celtic Park for the incoming manager.
Just what the actual fact, is going on here.
We did not challenge the cheating years, we did not challenge they are the same club.
We have allowed them to pass us on the playing side, and are now watching a gloating cheating club as number one in Scotland.
Not one club in Scotland has come out, and said listen its your first title not your 55th, but almost all supporters of these clubs indeed know what Liquadated means.
Maybe if the Celtic board had called them out, that would have started the dominoe effect.
The cheats go marching on.
Hard times predicted ahead by the looks of it.
Time to get the posts back up Phil HH
An opportunity for the parkhead and ibrox franchises to move to the relative riches of the EPL may have just have opened up.
For a few. Dollars less Pete has lost. A few Dollars more we at that time should have nailed down the coffin lid shut and the gun and SFA would have shoved us out to the English league saying its not fair on the Scottish clubs us winning every week
Well after the news last night that 6 of the biggest Clubs in England are looking at jumping ship to create an all exclusive Moneyball League with Europe’s other Greedy Ambassadors this could well change the domestic landscape of Football in this Country?
Clubs that previously openly stated that they would be against both Celtic and 2angers joining their own Moneyball League might now be open to the idea of inviting the Biggest Clubs from Scotland into their now under threat Premiership.
A developing story perhaps?
Celtic played no one for 8 of the ten years McGregor, Christy, brown, all failures in them times in Europe, but no one took stock, asleep at the wheel, yet gave new contracts out willy nilly, as like. Europe these 3 produced nothing over the piece, the will not be found in the box when there is a corner or when when wing back is played
The dumbing down of Celtic has shown arrogance on Lawell’s part. Lack of investment and the players they bought in just isn’t good enough. Good teams bring in a couple of players every season just to shake it up. Today’s game showed no midfield, left and right back were terrible and Edouard looked as if he couldn’t be arsed.
I’m still gutted to know that the club co owns the copyright of ‘the old firm’ and ‘old firm’ with Rankers. The powers that be clearly didn’t want the other half of that nauseas relationship to go under, hence their approach to resolution 12 etc. The club is reaping what the board has sown imho.
Been saying it for a few years. Mind you it took them 9 and a particularl red cardless helping hand. Next season expect the same, backed fully by the SFA and officials of course. They knew what was at stake after all.
It’s utterly shameful. Lawwell must bear the brunt of responsibility for the decline over the past two seasons, but it would be wrong to excuse the rest of the Board of Directors and the non-execs. It would certainly be very wrong to excuse Desmond his share. If he wants to act like the actual owner of the club, then he must, like Lawwell, accept his own significant share of the responsibility for the ongoing train-wreck.
I am of the opinion that the celtic board couldn’t afford for us to win the 10 this year as (unfortunately)the board spfl sky need the so called “old firm ” for the revenue not only for celtic but the whole of Scottish football
