A Prague spring at Ibrox?

Prague is one of the architectural jewels of Europe.

To walk through the capital of the Czech Republic is, quite literally, a Bohemian experience.

Consequently, I was happy that their citizenry was spared a visit from the Ibrox klanbase recently.

Last night Slavia Prague wherein the stadium that John Brown played for.

A new club, but same old same old…

It is little surprise that the Slavia Prague keeper Ondrej Kolar needed hospital treatment for this head injury.

The club confirmed the extent of his injuries.

It must be stated at this juncture that Mr Roofe just isn’t that type of player.

In the post-match presser, I thought that Mr Gerrard spoke very well about the need to stamp out racism in the game.

The thing is that the Ibrox klanbase self-define by their expression of anti-Irish racism every time they gather in numbers.

Today I wrote to UEFA  about the incidents in the match, and they replied immediately:

I wasn’t surprised.

You just might that this a developing story.

Just don’t expect the Stenography Corps to break succulent ranks on it.

However, this might be a difficult narrative to control.

This just out.

“SK Slavia Prague filed criminal complaint to Scottish police through the Embassy of the Czech Republic in London for physical assault on player Ondřej Kúdela.

Physical assault on Ondřej Kúdela was prepared and deliberate act which included covering of cameras on the site of the incident. The assault was brutal and carried out with the full force with the intention to hurt and cause physical harm to our player.

In the text, the names of people who witnessed the incident are stated, including UEFA representatives and Rangers FC manager Mr. Steven Gerrard.”

Once more:

“Physical assault on Ondřej Kúdela was prepared and deliberate act which included covering of cameras on the site of the incident. The assault was brutal and carried out with the full force with the intention to hurt and cause physical harm to our player.”

[My emphasis]

It is on days like these that I feel for the intrepid chaps in the Stenogprahy Corps who have to abide by  succulent rules.

  1. The historic centre of Prague is indeed one of the Architectural Jewels of Europe.

The outlying districts of the city are, however, among the worst examples of Brutalist Soviet Architecture.

The blocks of flats which accommodate the majority of Prague’s population are soulless, concrete boxes.

  2. Apparently Kamara’s reaction when words that were whispered into his ear, meant that it was most definitely a racist remark. How do I know this? Every pundit on Radio told me, so it must be true. Makes you wonder what McCoist whispered into Neil Lennon’s ear on that fateful night to get a similar reaction.

    • Now would be a good time for Lennon to tell us, would it not?

Some men react that way if you say something about their mother.

      Just ask Zinedine Zidane.

  3. When all else fails the sevco players turn to violence but this time it wasn’t a Larkhall, Ludge-attending Mason who was officiating and Slippy didn’t like that one bit. A blind eye is turned in Scotland when the zombie players use the same tactics and it’s no coincidence that the only red cards they’ve seen this season have been retrospective.

How can their manager denounce the alleged racist remarks aimed at one of his players whilst the Klan sing about being up to their knees in Fenian blood and revert to racist name calling of their own black players when they aren’t performing as well as Billy thinks they should?

The mess Roofe left of the goalie’s face was a criminal act itself and had that happened on the street(not a Scottish street) he would have been lifted and charged with GBH. I was waiting for someone to say it was the goalkeeper’s own fault and Twitter obliged.

    They have no shame. HH

  4. No surprise to learn that the Ibrox club, their fans and their enablers in the media only recognise one type of racism, that of colour, but are in complete denial when it comes to ethnicity. Colour me surprised as you would say Phil.
I wonder how good Gerrard’s eyesight and memory will be if he’s questioned by UEFA about the alleged incident in the tunnel?

  5. Even if you only ever played the game at primary school level, you would instantly know that the Roofe ‘challenge’ on the keeper was in no way accidental.

Having your foot so high AND with studs up: someone was getting injured.

    Hope the keeper recovers well.

  6. Empathise with Kamara if he’s been insulted about his skin colour. That said, there’s very little consistency emanating from Sevco.. Just two short weeks ago thousands of Ibrox hordes were spewing out anti Irish/Catholic vitriol. Ethnic Asians, going about their business, were being racially abused. Not a word of condemnation from Gerrard, Goldson, or even the Finish player about that. They’ll be fully aware about ‘Billy Boys’ lyrics and its Klan derivations. Each of these individuals are employed by Europe’s most sectarian/xenophobic club. This Slavia Prague incident, whilst serious, is being used to deflect from Sevco’s own bigoted following.

  7. We should welcome the new Rangers policy on anti racism which appeared to emerge about 9.45 p.m. on Thursday, at least until it evaporates again around midday on Sunday.

  8. I don’t get it. Why does everyone assume that the Czech players can all speak English,

The huns have a player in their side who has been with them for three years and he can’t speak English!.

So if it were the other way round, would the hun players be able to insult the opposition in Czechoslovakian?

Yet we have Goldson, who didn’t actually hear anything, admit on television that he was ready to kill someone.

I won’t hold my breath, but I hope UEFA punish them severely.

  9. Perhaps a ban from European football next Season for both Clubs might be the best course of Action?
Racism should never be tolerated and neither should premeditated acts of violent retribution.

Send out a clear message UEFA

  10. “A difficult narrative to control” as you say, and one which may have unanticipated consequences. The Czech press will be all over this looking at the history and traditions of this institution, unbroken or otherwise. Not a good look as you are fond of saying. If criminal charges ensue UEFA are going to be extremely annoyed to say the least if their officials have to testify. And they will. Finally, others may have to testify under oath what they saw, and did not see. Under penalty of perjury. And then there is the question of the failing cameras. Quite a mess.

  11. Phil, you keep missing out the word Catholic in your description of the Klan’s ethnic hatred.

It is purely Irish Catholics that they hate. Well, Catholics of any description actually.

They have no hatred for the Irish minority who identify as British rather than Irish.

And I use a pseudonym to protect my privacy not to hide my identity which you are privy to anyway.

  12. In all seriousness, if this male is found guilty of rasism then he should be hammered for his comments with a massive ban, not just in European competition but from football.

I also believe something sinister has gone on up the tunnel at ibrox as Prague could not get into their changing room and if rumours have it Cctv cameras have been covered. If true that blame does not fall on a single player, that then comes down to the clubs own security. I think a possible stadium relocation to a neutral venue might come into effect if found guilt on this security issue and the club hammered.
Player locked out of their changing rooms, cameras covered and players in waiting. Apparently rumours surfaced that it wasn’t just players involved but that woukd just be speculation at this moment.

Nothing that happened last night should be swept under the carpet. But if footage of the attack has been lost because someone covered the camera or turned the camera shows that this was premeditated and if enough witnesses say they saw Kamara attacking and physically punching the Prague player the he himself could be in big trouble as when the embassies get involved it’s not so easy for the courts to sweep it away.

Interesting development might be on the horizon.

  13. Does Prague not know that if this goes to a court of law in Scotland nothing will actually happen as Rangers or Sevco are apparently above the law,
All that will happen is Rangers will probably be awarded another 2 penalties in their next game.

  14. UEFA Rep. “Why were the camera’s switched off ?”
The sevco rep. “The leckie needed 50p.”
UEFA Rep. “Then how were the lights working at the time?”
The sevco rep. ” They’re linked to a nearby church” oops.

  15. Stewart Robertson statement today is laughable after part of ibrokes stadium was closed by uefa because of their fans being racist and for Gerrard to back his player OK but remember he backed Saurez who racially abused Patrice Evra and then we have show racism the red card Scotland who are quiet when the same club they stand behind now have the rangers supporters abusing Irish people and catholics week in week out but never seem to come out and condemn them they are an organisation stealing public money. Let’s hope uefa come down hard on the rangers for the way their players acted and if the Prague player did make a racist remark he is dealt with in the appropriate manner.

  16. I truly hope they get hammered by UEFA,maybe then we will see a proper investigation into why there has been no notification of punishment from either sfa or Scotland’s finest with regards their super-spreading antics and blatant law breaking two weekends past.

Those deeds cannot be swept away now that they have this to contend with although, atm I’d place a wager betting that’s exactly what does happen.

Absolute madness that we have to rely on Irish journalist for the truth of what’s happening in Scotland
    Thanks Phil🍻
