The Stevie and Alfie show

I was saddened to learn of the details of a free and fair exchange of views between Alfie and Stevie yesterday at Auchenhowie.

Today the Sevco manager didn’t hold back on the subject of his ample striker.

“I want it to be difficult in every position, going back to the goalkeeper question, I want two good players in every position fighting for their places.

“But if I see people aren’t focused, and they take their eye off the ball and they’re not really hungry to get this club results, then I have to make these decisions.

“And Alfredo made it easy for me this week.”

He did indeed make it easy for the gaffer.

I’m told that the Colombian’s attitude at training was, at best, sullen from the outset.

After a tactics discussion inside he was then tasked with some drill by one of the coaches.

Apparently, Alfredo’s demeanour to this perfectly reasonable request left, I am told, a lot to be desired.

My information is that Mr Gerrard then simply told him to leave the training field.

I reckon that the collective attitude of Alfie’s teams at they watched him trudge off was very much one of:

Ay, no tengo velo en este entierro!

The problem is that Alfie actually believes that Lille FC put in a €16m bid for him.

Pobresito.

Regardless of the inflated quantum being pushed out by PR superhero DUPman the Sevco High Command need the cash NOW.

If you do not lose sight of that, then a lot of this falls into place.

I understand that this training ground spat between Stevie and Alfie has caused something close to consternation in the Blue Room.

After all, they have invested an enormous PR effort in Operation Sell Alfredo.

As it stands, there are probably four sellable assets in the Sevco squad.

Ideally, one of them will have to go out to provide much-needed liquidity.

Apart from Alfredo, the quartet is made of up Barišić, Kent and Tavernier.

I’m told Leeds offered a staged payment for the ex-Liverpool winger.

However, this was rebuffed.

Were they to come back with the same overall sum, but instead upfront in one payment, then young Kent would almost certainly be packing his bags for Yorkshire.

Unfortunately for Sevco, my information is that Liverpool has a substantial sell-on clause, they’re such clever Klopps at Anfield.

Dear reader, if you believe that these Sevco players are NOT for sale, then just keep taking the tabloids.

Follow follow the money…

So poor Alfie was a bit grumpy at training.

However, I am sure that after the unpleasantness yesterday that the Sevco management team are fully cognisant of Alfie’s whereabouts.

  1. If Sevco manage to sell Alfie then all those Castore replica shirts with Loresom printed on the back will become redundant.

  2. Did Castore do the graphics on that sign?
It was supposed to read as We Are The Peepee

Due mostly in fact to how much urine the Board has extracted from them and how much pish they spout on a daily basis.

  3. Phil, do you know what set of accounts sevco give to the SFA.
They have 2 sets of accounts , 1 shows a loss of £12,259,000 that’s for the club
The other shows a loss £11,647,000 that’s for the holding company.
If you going by sevco and the “holding company” was liquidated and not the club , is it the holding company accounts they send to the SFA for their UEFA license?
I can’t really get my head around it.
If the holding company just run the club, how can the club be showing a £612,000 bigger loss that holding company. Surely the accounts should be identical?

  4. The press have been reporting that Lille made a bid of £16m but I have not seen or heard a direct quote from anyone confirming this amount. Has anyone else or is it just the Scottish media fiction factory in overdrive once again? I fail to see how the Ibrox club would turn down that sort of money, regardless of their current financial predicament.

    • Interesting one this one.

The quote is “We have (bid 16 million for him)”.

When you see a quote with brackets, it means that the person didnt actually say what was in the brackets – its implied that he said it.

In this example, Jim White said to the Lilles owner “You’ve bid 16 million for him haven’t you?” to which he replies “We have”. Its on the Talksport website on the programme on Thursday 20th around 11.30am.

On the face of it, based on White’s question, you would assume they did bid 16 million for him, but I’m with you – just cant believe that anyone in their right mind would offer anymore than 5 million.

My take on it is that Lopez’s answer was just meant to affirm that they did put a bid in for him, he didnt mean to agree with the 16m figure.

But then again, I’m as biased as the next football fan.

      HH.

  5. Stop press! There’s a buffoon hack in the daily rubbish explaining to the Gullibillies that Kent’s offer from Leeds will go up from £10m to £14m because he scored a goal against Kilmarnock this weekend.

    🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣

Killie have let in nine goals this season. Guess all those scorers including the Celtic player have increased values by £4m??? 🤣😂🤣😂🤣

Those Hibs, Ross County and St Johnstone guys have all gone up by £4m??? 😂🤣😂🤣😂

I hope Sevco keep these duds. Morelos hasn’t won a thing with them since he joined in 2017. Please let him stay, he’s a bag of laughs. They bought him for €1.2m he’s worth about €3m.

Lightweight Kent’s a no show dud against half decent opposition.

  6. Surely Morelos` agents will be keeping him informed as to whether he is attracting interest or not and informing him of the value of the (supposed) offers. He`ll have virtually no contact with anyone of authority at Ibrox.

Why, also, are so many Celtic fans hoping both him and Gerrard leave if they are such liabilities? It may be the case that r4ngers don`t have every gullabilly in Scotland under their jurisdiction. There are plenty of gullatimmys out there too.

  7. Auld Park, the interim chairman (another guy who doesn’t want something at Ibrox) needs to change his business attitude from treating players as used car merchandise for eking out profits and start thinking like a proper Club Chairman.

You cannot keep want away players.

It’s not slavery through indentured contracts.

His worth is what is highest offered.

    Sell him and move on.

No class. No football business correctness just financial desperation.

    • Apparently someone in the know on Follow Follow is convinced that it’s Park’s son who is making the big calls at Ibrox and not his dad.
That will be the same son who was so bowled over by Pedro’s long distance interview that he was offered the gig.
What could possibly go wrong and with every day Alfredo’s worth is plummeting.
Only a desperate fool would splash money on someone whose chucked it and created disharmony in the dressing room.

  8. The window is ticking down and Alfredo is getting nervous once more that he will be trapped there.

This is the fourth window he has wanted away. He hates them and hates the place. He’s sick of the Lying culture.

Any interested club just needs to wait their time and SEVCO will be giving him away on the last day to get him off the wage bill. He is unplayable and no use to them.

The sales pitch to recruits that you go to rangers* give them two years and big clubs come looking for you with big wages is just plain lies. Rangers* is football failure, career death and no medals.

    • 1. Alfredo has wanted away for some time.
      2. SEVCO has artificially inflated his worth in the media to unrealistic fictional quantum’s.
      3. Does the player believe these numbers?
      4. Does SEVCO club believe these numbers?
      5. Do buying clubs believe these numbers?
      6. Alfredo has downed tools since January. He doesn’t score.
      7. SEVCO cannot burden him on payroll to January as a non scoring want away.
      8. Nobody will pay Sevco’s fee and conditions (money up front).
      9. Alfredos relationships with Board, Coaches and Manager is over.
      10. Slippy G is looking weak and a poor manager.
      11. SEVCO need to drastically drop their price and go with standard pay instalments conditions/ low sell on % for this to end. That would be good business but they don’t have the brains.

      • More-or-less’ agents, World in Motion, will be furious he has not been sold.

They represent a few hundred players.

If Sevco proceed to upset the Agents then SEVCO might find themselves not getting access to future targets represented by WIM.

Looks like a case of Morelos’ value being unrealistically linked with RIFC PLC indebtedness levels. That’s a Sevco world agents and buying clubs don’t entertain.

  9. Jimmy Johnstone used to tell the story of being subbed and throwing his jersey towards the dugout which just happened to include one Jock Stein and half-way up the tunnel he became aware of thundering footsteps…
Gerrard chose to indulge Morales, rookie mistake, but when all is said and done the latter is to blame. I think we are lucky as we were when Negri took the huff.

    • I would imagine they still owe about half the £7m to Liverpool so even if and it’s a big IF Leeds offered £10m, they would only really break even…

    • It is a well known Spanish idiom and is currently in use.
Ay, no tengo velo en este entierro!
Literally “I don’t have a candle in this funeral!”
It is used when two parties are arguing and you realise that it is none of your business.
I have used the term many times in Spain-I probably learned it over 40 years ago.
      You’re welcome.

  12. The Rangers and the Kings ransom striker and midfielder. But

It has to be all said and done, they have made a good start to the season.
A challenge to the 10 is on.
Make no mistake they look stronger and have yet to concede a goal.

SG is going for it in his last season as the King Bun at Greyskull. He will be gone with a cheer from wee Jimmy Smell in the boot room after this season. Win or bust for Stevie boy

    Celtic

Yet the boardroom at Celtic play penny pinching on signing defenders, and a central midfielder. Waiting another year for young Turnbull is not an option. Cover required now.
Neil Lennon must surely must know these areas need strengthened.

If they lose the 10 due to previous acts of tightness, it may be a rocky road for Pete and Co.

    PS
Is French Eddie on his way, or is the Griff?

  13. Alfie is not worth $4m never mind $40m.
The whole Sevconian Soap Opera has been a masterclass in structural irony.
On the one hand the PR Pumpers continue to inflate the assets of a club that schizophrenically wants a particular suit to believe that they have highly valuable and liquid assets, whilst simultaneously believing they can theatrically stage poverty, usually to those charged with collecting revenue for laudable institutions like hospitals and ancillary services.
The only thing I have yet to work out , is how long the pantomime can rewrite the script withe the same material, to the same diminishing pool of fools.

  14. It’s going to be a long season for the petulant Morelos.

It’s going to be an even longer season for Gerrard – if he stays at Ibrox.
    .
    How can a £16M / £20M / £XXM player be left out of a TRFC team…?

It’s a perfect storm: making Gerrard look like the rookie manager that he is, and highlighting his inability to manage his most valuable player…

  15. Great work Phil. If sevco were to get 10 million for Kent, would it solve the cash flow problems for another year? I just don’t believe that they paid 7 for him. It will probably end up 5 million for sevco with Leeds paying the bill for any outstanding monies owed on Merseyside.

    Reply
    • They haven’t finished paying Liverpool for Kent yet, so any incoming fee would be offset by the amount still outstanding to Liverpool, as well as any sell-on clause. Of course, the MSM conveniently overlook these facts.
