La cabeza de Alfredo

Tonight, Mr Let’s Go complained that Alfie’s head had been “turned”.

Well, if Alfredo isn’t mentally focussed on his day job at Sevco, then that is clearly a result of Operation Sell Alfredo.

This has been ongoing for two years at this stage.

What would happen was that an entirely fanciful story would appear on the back pages about some mystery bid for the Colombian striker.

Note that the bid was always just ABOUT to happen.

Now a cynic might conclude that, two years on, that this was all PR fantasy to flush out a genuine offer for the player.

I, of course, couldn’t possibly comment.

The thing is  Alfie’s agent appeared to believe at least some of this nonsense and he acted upon it.

His view was if the club were turning down enormous offers for his client then the lad was undoubtedly due an increase in his personal terms.

That was difficult to refute and, eventually, it wasn’t.

Consequently, the Sevco High Command had to stump up.

However, it wasn’t just the striker’s bank balance that was enlarged.

His ego also expanded exponentially along with his midriff.

His on-field lack of discipline and turning up late to training late all added to the picture of a chico who had lost the run of himself.

When you look at this just from today, then it isn’t difficult to see why.

I find it impossible to think that the PR spin to try and find a  buyer for him is not a factor in Alfie’s lack of focus right now.

Moreover, I’m confident that Mr Gerrard spoke the undeniable truth tonight.

So who is responsible for turning Alfredo’s head?

Well, if Stevie wants to locate the culprit, then he might be up for a game of Sevco Cluedo.

Spoiler:

It was done in the Blue Room with the spreadsheet.

Pobresito.

  1. Sevco and Daily Ranger roll out population manipulation on a daily basis. Fake news. Enrichment for some from stupidity of many. The buy in necessity.

Lots of outfits are at population manipulation. But some practices are more sinister than others. Some practices are whole life debilitating.

The SNP school grades scandal, downgrading impoverished working class areas, is most telling. Keep the underprivileged in their place, out of university and eternally wronged and voting SNP. Don’t let them wise up at Uni and take their knowledges back to their housing estates.

Exposure to other smart kids at uni opens the naive eyes of sink estate kids. SNP can’t have that.

    • Sevco and SNP, Unionists and Nationalists, both keeping their underclass in check and buying in. Enlightenment and change isn’t good if you sit at the top of your tribe. Too much to lose.

  2. We need a left back and a centre half.

This is not panic or knee-jerk I said it before the end of last season.

    Today’s performance just proved it.

Julien is just not tough enough and neither he nor Ajer can win headers in their own box.

And El Younoussi is not as good as some would have us believe.

  3. Looks like StevieG is unwittingly painting himself into a corner – with Morelos.

Morelos – again – is in the starting line up, today v. St.Mirren.

Ok, so a transfer deal is not ‘imminent’ at all – but they need/want to keep their most valuable asset in the shop window, and he plays even if he is a bit out of shape.

If/when the transfer window slams shut and Morelos is still at Ibrox, what then?

Gerrard can’t easily drop a player who “should have gone to” Lille, Barca, the EPL, etc.

But will Morelos be anymore motivated than he wasn’t after the January window shut?

And if Morelos is dropped, then he will be even less saleable come the next transfer window!

It’s a wee shame for both Morelos and Gerrard, so it is… 🙂

  4. Meanwhile over at Ibrox Noise, the comedy value is reaching fever pitch.
I sometimes wonder if these fools actually believe what they write or is it a case of feeding the knuckledraggers what they want to hear in order to keep them onside?
I think they’ve just about overdosed on the Deludemol with this story!!!

The 19-club queue trying to sign Alfredo Morelos

As reports persist linking French giants Lille with a summer move for Alfredo Morelos, the list of sides vying for his signature is starting to look almost absurd.

Ibrox Noise has listed all the sides in for him, past and present, and why Rangers are right to play hardball to earn at least £20M in the transfer fee.

    From France:
    ADVERTISING

    Marseille
    Lille

    China:

    Beijing Renhe

    Qatar:

    Al Duhail

    Spain:

    Atletico Madrid
    Valencia
    Sevilla

    Turkey:

    Fenerbahce

    Germany:

    Borussia Dortmund
    Eintracht Frankfurt

    Italy

    AC Milan
    Napoli
    Sassuolo
    Bologna

    England:

    West Ham
    West Brom
    Crystal Palace
    Everton
    Brighton

19 clubs, and that’s just the ones off the tops of our heads.

The strongest links are Lille, Sevilla, Bologna, Sassuolo, Brighton, and Everton and none of these clubs would struggle to fork out £20M+ for Morelos.

Lille, of course, have a £45M kitty after selling Napoli their star striker, and they can afford to replace him with half of that.

But the reality is there are a lot of clubs who want Morelos, and Rangers will get a colossal profit with a major bidding war on our hands.

  5. Are Graeme Young and Gabriel McKay the same person at the Daily Radar?
Gabriel has come out with a few beauties over the last couple of weeks, one of which was getting the number of points difference between the top 2 teams in the SPFL wrong when the league was called, followed up by another article which clearly isn’t being viewed by a sub editor before going to print.
However Graeme beats all that hands down today with his article on the CL preliminary draws where he asks the question ‘don’t UEFA not NO’ in respect of the timing of the draw.
Not NO, Graeme! Is this what it’s came to, 5 year old primary school kids with little or NO knowledge of the English language making an arse of themselves, and their employer.
I might not know (‘NO’ )much Graeme but as sure as hell I know that NO and know do not mean the same thing.
Put this together with Gabriel’s efforts and it’s clear that the Daily Radar can no longer afford to employ sub editors to run the rule over what their Sports hacks offer up as news.
Not only are we being presented with lies and half truths and, if that’s not bad enough, the Daily Radar is employing ‘journalists’ who have NO( know Graeme) knowledge of the English language.

  6. The Scottish Sun and the Daily Radar are both headlining with the story that Lille have made a 17m bid for Alfredo which ‘cash rich’ Rangers have turned down as they don’t need the money.
However both headlines hide behind the claim that the Lille offer is reported or reportedly.
Aye right and who exactly is reporting the claims but none other than the Scottish Sun and the Daily Radar both of whom have no qualms in enticing punters to fork out the price of a paper with headlines that have no basis in fact.

  7. I see Hugh Keevins has somehow found a gig at the DR/Sunday Mail.
He’s off to a flyer with his line that Rangers have gone through administration and liquidation.
Really? Gone through! Perhaps he should educate himself and pick up a dictionary to understand exactly what those words mean.
I doubt if any company has ‘ gone through’ admin and liquidation and come out the other end as if nothing has happened.

  8. It’s official then. Gerrard claims in The Radar that he’s under no pressure to sell Morelos to fund the additions to his squad.
The Radar also claims that a £17m bid from Lille has been rejected.
Of course history has warned us that nothing in the DR football reports can be taken at face value after the billionaire with wealth off the radar lie, presented as the truth, by their award winning writer who miraculously is still in a job after making his employer a laughing stock.

  9. Who the devil is Andy Newport of Daily Radar Sports reporting?

Is it Keith Jackson’s pseudonym? Does Andy really exist?

Who in their right mind would print the lie that Lille has bid £16.25million for Alfredo Morelos and skint TRFC has knocked it back?

Morelos is a £3.2m high risk gamble.

Complete brass necked lies. Desperation from the pretendy club and it’s stranger than fiction comic.

Gerrard is under no pressure to sell anyone? Lies.

    Lies, Lies, Lies.

  10. What a dilemma, for if they play Alfredo, and they have really got to to put him in the shop window, and he unfortunately gets injured, then all bids are dead in the water along with the good ship Sevco.

    Please Lord make my day.

  11. How much do you all think Morelos is worth? What about you Phil – give us all a valuation.

Be honest and base it on the evidence.

I reckon £3-4m tops – owing to his Europa League contribution and nothing else.

Goal Scoring: He did well in the Europa league with 6 goals from the group stage but was outscored in the SPFL by Jermaine Defoe, indeed his 12 goals were matched by Christian Doidge, he has not scored once in 12 games against Celtic and has one goal in 7 international appearances.

Honours: He has won no domestic honours in Scotland,

International – 7 caps, almost all from friendlies and missed out on the Copa America squad last year.

Discipline – Sent off five times last season.

Where and how are valuations of £5m+ coming from, never mind £15-£20m? The Premier League in England is a non-starter but if I were a Championship manager I might take a punt on £3 – £4m tops – and it would be taking a punt, considering Villa got McGinn for around £2m and we all know McGinn is a far superior asset to any squad than Morelos. Indeed, if I were a Championship manager looking in Scotland for attacking players to take a punt on at circa £3m or less, I’d be more inclined towards Martin Boyle or Sam Cosgrove but I suppose, despite the financial difficulties caused by Covid-19, Hibs and Aberdeen are not as desperate to sell because they have some cash in the bank and access to external credit like most normal businesses.

    • I’m afraid that’s above my paygrade.
His market value is what someone is willing to pay for him.
However, what I DO know is that the Sevco High Command need to sell him ASAP.

      • That’s the value of anything Phil. Be it a house, a car, a football player, anything. It’s worth what someone is willing to pay for it.

  12. So Phil will Ross Wilson loss his job if he doesn’t punt Morelos this window or will he get to the end of January?
Is that not the reason why the last incumbent loss his job, not being able to punt the chubby Colombian

  13. I thought your headline today was going to be The Spanish for Billy Bunter
Yesterday before the game I teased my TRFC golfing buddies quoting your 40% of 6m euros As the only Up front offer ever received for Billy B .
They bit and went ballistic saying £17m had been turned down already. Real and Barca are in for him And he will definitely go for more than that overrated dud Eduoard and insisted He Billy B was the highest scorer in the Premier league .
I quickly disabused them of this Shoite which I suggested they keep getting fed from the TRFC fan boys in the media .
One quickly scrambled through his phone searching the stats to prove me wrong about goals scored and after a few minutes slammed it back in his golf bag
He played that hole particularly badly !
The conversation on the next tee quickly reverted to Aberdeen and Coronavirus!

  18. Given the monthly cash burn plus new and old transfer fee instalments and deferred wages the ST revenue will already have a huge hole in it.
Sports Direct ain’t gone away neither have Memorial Walls, Dave King, and other litigants.
As of today not a penny in transfer fee income has found it’s way to the Rangers bank account.
At the moment every Morelos appearance and performance is reducing his market value.
Gone are the £50m headlines being generated earlier in the year by the Scottish media. It’s not clear if anyone has actually made an offer despite media reports that Rangers won’t sell unless their valuation is met.
Will one or both of the new strikers make their debut at the weekend consigning Morelos to the bench or will they themselves remain on the bench whilst the Colombian is kept in the shop window hoping that his form and goals return to encourage suitors to come forward?
    Over to you Stevie G.

  20. Funny change of tact for Mr Gerrard… because …

Yesterday – “Alfredo was focused and wanting to play”. He had no hesitation to pick him for the match.

Today – “It’s clear his head has been turned.. everyone knows that.”

Hmmm. I’m sure the media will point out this 24 hour contradiction. Won’t they ?

I think the ” interested clubs” are unwilling to meet even this figure…so any phantom 15m bid will include wages and still be an exaggeration…
