A message from Ernest Hemingway to the Sevco High Command

Today was a good one for the Stenography Corps.

They had some actual substance to feed to the feelgood narrative at Ibrox.

I will leave it to others who are more qualified to assess their abilities as footballers.

Of course,  the quid pro quo for the Stenography Corps receiving such delicious morsels from Sevco’s new PR guru is that any probing questions are verboten.

Consequently, DUPman has a relatively easy gig from the local media.

For the avoidance of doubt, this isn’t a new development at Ibrox it has always been thus.

I briefly heard from a well-placed source  on the matter, and this is what he had for me:

“The club have spent £5.5m on the 2 players. I don’t know at this point, the breakdown of the fee. They’re the spending Morelos money before he’s sold. I do know that the deals are structured over 4 transfer windows.”

As per usual here, when I find out more, I will report it.

Although there will be unrestrained gushing about headline figures for Itten and Roofe, the key detail will be in the tranches and add ons.

As regular readers will know, I had reported that the anticipated money for Alfie had already been earmarked for other areas.

That included the Dave King loan.

Consequently, this volte-face is very much the Sevco High Command going for broke top stop  Celtic doing 10 In A Row.

I am reminded of a rather apposite piece of dialogue from Ernest Hemingway’s The Sun Also Rises.

In the 1926 novel Bill Gorton asked Mike Campbell:

“How did you go bankrupt?”

“Two ways,” Mike Campbell said. “Gradually and then suddenly.”

Of course, that is what happened to the original Rangers.

Today might be significant.

  1. It’s a desperate last throw of the dice. We have all been there as the calendar ticks ever slowly to pay day and we have already tapped up family and friends to get us there, in this instance with the transfer of Morelos as pay day.

That’s another big hole in the ST monies.
Does this signal that Ashley has done a deal with Rangers and Castore that will see him profit from all merchandising sales with SD dropping the court case in return?
If not and the SD court case is still in play, the ST monies will be gone by Xmas, maybe sooner.

  2. For the last 8 years, I have heard about the “banter years ” and it kind of passed me by as I tended to look at the whole Sevco spectacle with a detached sociological eye, fascinated how, despite Lincoln’s affirmation, these ex Rangers’ supporters could be fooled, all of them and all the time.
That was up until these photos when I just burst out laughing at how they could imagine to be the same club whose players ,once had to turn up to training in in a suit.
What is going on with those shoulder and sleeve seems in the second photo?
The happy enthusiastic look on their faces isn’t helping either…

  3. I think Roofe is a £3.5m player. I think Itten is no more than £700k.

£4.2m on the pay up hire purchase over two years?

Kent and Hagi need paid up. A heavily indebted club.

Roofe scores every 200 minutes played. Not great!

Have they done the dirty on King and not paying him the way he doesn’t pay others? Whistle Dixie fur yir money?

It’s an effort but not enough. They’re trying to keep Slippy from Slipping away. Weakening his excuse for walking.

They received SPFL second place money.
CASTORE said £3m up front to SEVCO.
    Europa League money due.
    Season Ticket Money.

Two more wages on the bill tho’

  4. Phil,it’s a given that the stenographer corps will never ask, obedient as they are. However,I cannot be the only one thinking that this is the perfect scenario for even more skullduggery from sevco.

No sfa, well,a properly working administrative body,I should say.

No,answering to the Stock Exchange either,so add that into the mix and it’s the perfect storm for fiddling everyone/anyone(esp.their own peepul)

Then chuck in Covid-19 and BLM…because they will use absolutely anything no matter how improper/unnecessary in an attempt to stop THE TEN🍾🍀

I wouldn’t be surprised,as they’ve a free hand and practically NO oversight, well, there’s UEFA lurking in the background, but they pick and chose their moments of interest.

Denmark and frighteningly stinkende fisk🤮 come too easily to mind.

    Thanks Phil.🇮🇪

    • There is no star missing – there are simply four stars that have no right being there! It is an absolute disgrace and an insult to all well run football clubs throughout the world that the corrupt footballing authorities that are the SFA, UEFA and FIFA should allow it.

    • I am disappointed to find it’s been photoshopped. I was pishing myself then I noticed the drooping “D” in the sign behind him and I had to do a little investigating. I’m gutted, because they are so inept I would not put it past them to actually have made such an arse of things.

  5. Keep them down Phil
Sevco robbing Peter to pay Paul
    Time will come
That’s why Celtic going for ten is the reason why they can’t bust themselves
Brilliant Phil all the best for you and your family hh

      • By selling Alfredo? I’m on about the years previous since they arrived back in the league I’m a massive fan of rugged guy on this but if he was half correct surely that club would be cutting costs to save the events of 2012 re occurring

        • In their zombie heads nothing financialy happened to rangers in 2012.
The 1 Hundred and 68 mullion debt left by old rangers football club was just fake news.
Check out BDO Liquidators Web site just type in Rangers Football Club…as the liquidation process has yet to be finalised (another world record) the final debt left be daddy gers will probably end up £170.000,000
