As regular readers will be aware, I have been tracking Operation Sell Alfredo for some time.

As ever with matters Sevco it is advisable to follow follow the money.
Now today the Daily Radar is reporting that the ample Colombian has been “offered” to Napoli.

The simple truth is that the Sevco High Command have put most of their financial eggs in the Morelos basket.
Of course, the local media have done Sterling work in trying to inflate his putative value.

Despite all of this embarrassing pish, there has not been any firm bid to secure Aldfredo’s services.
Put simply, selling the striker for a substantial fee has been central to plans of the Sevco High Command.
However, his market value tumbles with each episode of ill-discipline.

No doubt agents will be doing their best to punt him.
For the avoidance of doubt, there are no Glasgow Derby goals in Alfie’s highlight reel.
As I have previously reported, at this stage, the Sevco High Command would be tempted by a REAL offer of £4m upfront.
In recent discussions in the Blue Room, they have concluded that £8m would be the upper limit of what they could hope to get for the rotund South American.
Sevco remains a loss-making business without a credit line from a bank.
They do, however, have a striker who is out of control and out of condition.
Amazingly, no one else appears to want him.
Baffling.
Have a great day.

It’s all about Alfie, shit or bust, now that the much talked about Kamara to Marseille move for £10m seems to have run out of legs, if it had any to begin with.
I notice there are some rumblings from the blue side about the promised upgrade of the Ibrox mega store and doubts as to whether it will be completed by 1st August, new kit launch day.
Murmurs as well about the availability of kit for launch day and with no further confirmation from Castore about what other high street outlets they will be partnering with, other than Sports Direct, then the exclusive claim by Ashley has not been questioned.
Oh dear, surely the fanbase has not been misled once again, this time by the club, Castore and the ever willing Scottish media.
Surely it’s only a matter of time before the club announce a complete turnaround and encourage their fans to buy direct from SD with the premis that most of the revenue will return to Ibrox and the days of the much quoted 7p in the £ split of the revenue are long gone.
Alfredo ‘tubby’ Morelos is a reflection of the club itself.
Both are for sale and both un-buyable.
Both have bad reputations. Both are in negative equity.
Both are desperate. Both under perform. Both are bad brands.
Both have over inflated opinions of themselves.
Both win nothing.
I’m still scratching my head over the SFA’s decision to charge Hearts and Partick for taking legal action in the civil courts against them.
Did Sevco not do the exact same thing a few seasons ago and no action was taken against them?
Funny that.
Whom so ever buys ‘Ample Alfredo’ will be taking a punt , more power to the springs on his Lamborghini.
Here’s a thought…
Nobody seems to want to buy Morelos – at any price.
Morelos was throwing a strop pre-lockdown, and Gerrard even dropped his top goalscorer for the crucial cup tie against Hearts – which they then proceeded to lose.
Perhaps the solution is to “offer” Morelos on loan – to anybody?
It gets him off the payroll, (or partially).
It removes a disruptive element from the squad for Gerrard.
It gives Morelos an incentive to clean up his act on/off the field, score goals – and convert a loan deal into a transfer.
Otherwise, Morelos is probably just going to sulk all season at Ibrox. 🙂
Am I the only one to have sussed El Gordo Colombiano out?..
Fat Alfie is going for 10 in a row as well – although the 10 he’s aiming at is 10 years at sevco, whereby they have to give him a testimonial, thus milking sevco and the gullibillies for loads of dosh! Hes been throwing a wobbly because they’re trying to thwart his efforts at draining the cash cow.
Nevermind.. the Hong Kong guy is ready to invest his multi-million any time now! 😂😂😂😂😂
As long as it’s not a size ten he’s trying to fit into. That boat sailed some time ago!!
There are risks to loaning out a senior player who is contracted until 2023.
Good!! Let him feckin sulk!! Something else for them to deal with.
When the Scottish Media show who they support , can there be any surprise when supporters show their support by not purchasing their garbage
According to The Scotsman today Lazio are about to “table a bid” for Alfredo and again, according to The Scotsman, “that’s a figure that Rangers are likely to entertain”. With Napoli also interested we can expect a tug of war between the Italian giants for the Colombian goal machine. Actually, tug of war and the mention of figure might be appropriate phrases considering Alfredo’s current girth.
One look at wee Alfie’s figure could scupper any deal.
Seriously though putting a price on anything is often a shot in the dark, especially in these uncertain times. A car, a house, a footballer, is only worth what someone is willing to pay. If you have a product to sell, in which several buyers are interested, then you can obviously expect to get close to, or more, than the bawbees you wanted.
If, however, you have a product you’ve been trying to punt for years and NO ONE has shown any interest in purchasing it, like More-or-less, you will NOT get the price you want. And the longer you try to sell it the more difficult it becomes because people look from a distance and think, “That’s been on the market for ages. Must be a problem with it” and end their interest before it starts. Especially when the price has been dropping faster than a hoor’s knickers.
A house you can take off the market until the market picks up. IF you don’t desperately need to sell.
A footballer is different. Especially when the vendor DOES need to sell.
Thankfully from their point of view they DIDN’T have to refuse £40m in the last window. How stupid would that have made them look.
£40 fuckin million!!! I still almost piss myself at that one.
Regarding your first line in an excellent comment, I remember Chicago Bears head coach commenting in 1985 on the state of William the “Refrigerator ” Perry returning to training after time off.
“The problem is very simple. When William returns home to South Carolina, the local chicken population is devastated.”
Connect the dots.
I’ve ALWAYS found American football to be right up there with Baseball, Cricket and paint-drying as spectator sports. However I do recall the Refrigerator scoring what I think was the winning touchdown in the only Superbowl Final I ever managed to stay awake – mostly – through.
That was a while ago.
Phil
One of your many beauties.
Chapeau.
£4-5m rising to £10m add on when he flies a rocket to the moon. Still leaves them a very very experienced 38 yr old striker to play.
