Fascist fashion choices tells a tale about Ibrox

It was a busy weekend for British racists.

Of course, it would not be a proper fascist get together if there wasn’t some Ibrox apparel on show.

This is the sort of brand matching that the chaps at Castore can look forward to next year.

I’m sure they’re excited about the prospect of their merchandise turning up at such events.

Right?

Actually, far right-as in fascist.

These sturdy sons of the British nation were on…ahem, duty to “protect” statues.

Dignified…

It actually reminded me of this event in Barcelona many years ago.

For the initiated that monument to Francesc Macià has a special place in Catalan hearts.

For the klan on tour, it was just somewhere to empty their Quintessentially British bladders.

Winning friends on the journey…

If only they could see how others see them.

I think that is generally true of the British and their collective historical amnesia about the crimes of empire.

This discussion on Channel 4 News is worth watching.

Don Lets doesn’t miss (09.00) when says that:

“to a lot of people of colour on this planet, the British Empire s not that far from the Third Reich”.

Then, in a stunning sense display of zero self-awareness, the current British Prime Minister does not want the history of Britain to be “photoshopped.

Well, Boris, that is precisely what you and your Etonian tribe have been doing for centuries!

Last night this tweet from a thoroughly well-meaning chap was brought to my attention.

What is noteworthy is the use of the word “sizeable”.

Now, that is a truth that the Stenography Corps cannot speak.

No doubt he looks forward to a time when a team playing at Ibrox called “Rangers” is not the embodiment of racism and xenophobia.

All I can say is that he has all of his work in front of him.

The sad truth for Ben is that the connecting tissue at Ibrox has always been racism.

Hatred of the Irish community is what defines The People at their core.

Moreover, once you understand that fundamental truth, then it is easy to see why they find other immigrant communities so easy to hate.

This belief system can be found in many places.

On Planet Fitba it is manifest wherever the Ibrox klanbase gather.

Everyone in fair Caledonia with the facility of reason knows this.

However, it appears to suit those in power to leave this subculture mostly unchallenged.

Indeed, some of the political elite might even share some of the views of the Ibrox Herrenvolk apropos Scotland’s multi-generational Irish community.

I’m told that last week several members of the Sevco High Command received angry calls from some of their valued klanbase.

Apparently, they took exception to a rather innocuous piece in Glasgow Live.

The website had reported this piece from a Brazilian publication.

You can read it here.

However, here is the offending paragraph:

RANGERS (ESC) While Celtic has more left-wing ideals and represents Scotland’s Catholic community, the Rangers are the nation’s right wing and Protestant club. In general, supporters of the blue team vote for the Conservative Party, defend the United Kingdom as a unified country and are 100% loyal to the authority of Queen Elizabeth. With so many political and ideological differences, the “Old Firm”, classic that opposes the two main forces of Scottish football, is usually one of the most explosive derbies in Europe…

I’m told that at least one Blue Room chap sent out the bat signal to their new PR superhero DUPman after reading the story.

Then, in an entirely unconnected development, the link to the piece in Glasgow Live went dead.

I find it tragically hilarious that football fans who lovingly remember in song a street gang which was founded by a self-identifying fascist and member of the Ku Klux Klan object to the term “right-wing.

Good grief…

The pachyderms of Ibrox are certainly worth further sociological study in the wild.

It would be a crass mistake to believe that such a xenophobic world view is only found in the trailer trash of Ibrox.

This Herrenvolk viciousness can be detected within the powerful corridors of Whitehall.

It is almost if the British political elite thought that Britain was still an imperial power.

Last night, after a recommendation from a comrade, I watched the BBC drama “sitting in limbo”.

It is currently available on iPlayer, and some spoilers follow.

The story of Anthony Bryan is how a decent man became a victim of a racist policy.

His life was turned upside down because the British state divided to base their immigration police on the Famine Song.

This is the story of the “Windrush Generation”.

These children from the Caribbean were told that they were coming home to Britain.

At the end of the drama, we are told that in April 2018 it was revealed that the Home Office destroyed the landing cards of thousands of Windrush immigrants.

The Kafkaesque nightmare that Anthony Bryan went through was not mix up in the paperwork.

It was a policy to deport the “low hanging fruit” in order to meet Home Office targets.

Yes, “low hanging fruit” that was the term used within the British civil service for human beings.

For the avoidance of doubt, the racists in London and Glasgow at the weekend would fully support the “send them back” impulse of the political elite who invented the “hostile environment” policy.

That is why Planet Fitba must be a hostile environment for the belief system of the Ibrox klanbase.

  1. Refusal to recognise the Scots / Irish diaspora in Scotland, by authorities e.g. by a failed Famine Memorial, no Saint Patrick’s Day celebrations or marches through Glasgow, numerous obnoxious Orange, anti-Catholic parades etc. ensures that discrimination is a reality for us in this part of the world. And also that we are not considered for employment chances as others are, because we cannot be fairly positively discriminated for, as per the rest of society is by government etc. It is a form of official ethnic prejudice, through omission of duty by authorities and translates into everyday life as racism for us. And it is self perpetuating because prejudicial attitudes are not challenged by authorities. What needs to change is that the Scots / Irish are identified by culture and not by the apparent colour of their skin.

  2. Good point about Castore and their merchandising being put out there on display by The People.
Hardly the PR an almost previous unknown company would be seeking to promote themselves.
I see that there are those amongst the ‘peepul’ who somehow have a notion that if Hearts raise and win a case against the SPFL then the 19/20 season will recommence.
Don’t they realise that the 20/21 season is set to kick off on the 1st August?
By the time the legal bods are finished, or started, June and July will have passed us by.
In fact the 1st August start for next season might be a struggle but these eejits just don’t get it.
No matter, roll up, roll up, keep buying the ST’s. Our own legal case against the SPFL will start any day now, honest!

  4. I’ve no idea how you did it! You managed to get an advert for JD Sport Price Drop picturing a Hummel Rangers* strip embedded in the piece. Nice going!

  5. Well, now that Hearts relegation is confirmed Budge is going to pursue the legal route to protest their situation.
I do feel a modicum of sympathy for them with a number ot games still to be played but in all honesty they have been rotten all season, apart from when Rangers visit!
4 league wins tells it’s own story. Budge has to shoulder much of the blame for putting her trust in Levein who has proven to be absolutely hopeless.
Have I missed the threatened legal action at the other end of the table where the 2nd placed team has been kicking off over Celtic ‘stealing’ their CL monies and have used the legal action threat as a bugle call to their fans to buy Season Tickets?
Whilst Hearts may have an argument at the bottom end there is little doubt that with a 13 point league, effectively 14 taking GD into account, coming up with a solid case to support the notion that Celtic could have been caught will be laughed out of court.
Ifs, buts and maybes won’t cut it in a court of law and Rangers collapse since the winter break, in comparison with the Champions form, would most likely have seen the gap increase.
The clubs voted unanimously to end the season early. How can you make an argument that it’s not fair m’lud and Celtic have stolen what rightly should belong to Rangers?
Perhaps the reluctance to run to an expensive QC and put a big hole in whatever season ticket monies are sitting in the Ibrox bank account is driving the matter.
With the motor trade hitting unprecedented low levels who is going to step up and pay the bill, Dave King?

  7. People, people, people. To paraphrase Rangers ex Benefactor in Chief, SDM, you’ve all been duped. The Students from Bristol who couped Colson’s statue in the river have started a movement which Boris and Cummings absolutely LOVE.
Suddenly, the narrative has changed from our leader’s world beating Covid disaster and all it’s eff ups to keeping statues that affect nobody in the short term. Similarly, no one is talking about the almighty cock up which is Brexit anymore. Boris has absolutely no pressure on him now.
Personally, I now see the reason Cummings was defended by the hierarchy. I see his hand behind all this chicanery.

    • All these protests over the last couple of weeks will continue to escalate as summer goes on and more will join in . The thing is the protesters on both sides would have voted this Tory government in at the last election are stuck with them for next 5 years . Hell slap it into them .

  8. Too many twisted ironies about the far-right Ibrox brethren. Almost laughable to see them protecting a statue of Robert Peel (founder of British policing) in George Square. You can only imagine what the Manchester constabulary make of it all. They’ll still be reeling from those violent events of 2008

  9. Is that low hanging fruit like the Strange fruit sung about by Billie Holiday?

Come here and fill our low paid jobs. Now, eff off, we’re too busy and you don’t fit.

    Shameful.

  10. Another documentary worth a watch is SLAVERY: SCOTLAND’S HIDDEN SHAME. If you missed this on BBC Scotland last night at 9pm, it’s on the BBC iplayer. It’s the first of a 2-part documentary, narrated by David Hayman.

      • That was the island where the slaves were kept, while the slave masters waited for the transport ships, no doubt built on the Clyde. In that documentary, it was discussed that sharks had learned to follow these ships, knowing that a tasty meal or three awaited them – this is because dead slaves were tossed overboard, and some were thrown into the shark-infested waters as a punishment. Truly disgusting, inhuman behaviour!!
