Mike Graham

Last night I suggested that the radio person Mr Mike Graham might have rather mis-Tweeted.

Here is the original Tweet.

Consequently, I was not surprised to learn that Celtic FC were considering their legal options today.

It was appalling stuff which he then appeared to compound with some anti-Irish racism.

This is clearly a racist trope that, sadly, any Irish person in Britain will readily recognise.

Full disclosure, until last night, I had not heard of Mr Graham.

Moreover, I do not feel that I’ve really missed out because of that.

The offending Tweet in question has since been deleted, and he appears to have displayed the Dunkirk Spirit on the social media platform.

For the avoidance of doubt, this should not be the end of the matter,

His employers should make clear whether or not they share Mr Graham’s views on these matters.

If they do not, then his position appears to be untenable.

I have contacted Talk Radio for comment.

  1. The SPFL has nothing to hide and called the EGM to call Sevco’s bluff.

The clubs can scupper their EGM by voting to stop it. Only three from Premiership are required.

FIFA and UEFA are now looking at no football before 1st September. Europe’s Leagues are now officially ending their seasons.

The SPFL are being proven Entirely correct on their approach to end the leagues.

The Covid19 death rate in Scotland has increased again today unfortunately. Football has no chance before the autumn.

The SPFL have the authority to end the Premiership on existing standings and declare hearts relegated and Celtic Champions at any time.

The stupidity of Stranraer and Hearts to go along with Sevco having seen no evidence is baffling. Ending the leagues is proven correct.

The concept of this season being null and void whereby Hearts have officially done as well as Celtic is criminally incompetent.

  2. “ This unedifying scramble to claim Scottish football’s morale high ground-“

English language dunce Keith Jackson, and clearly his Editor, don’t know the difference between MORAL (ethical) and MORALE (cheerfulness).

This exemplifies this newspaper as a complete waste of time. A waste of living human hours on earth.

I recall being a student in the 1980s when a daily record would be purchased and scrutinized for spelling errors during lunch. Dozens of errors got picked off.

Nothing has changed. DR readers have grown up with their heads filled with wrongly spelled words, mis-used words and conflicting and confusing positions in the same article.

    Keep them dumb and confused.

  3. SPFL Chairman Murdo McLennan’s Q&A Published response should put to bed any debate whatsoever about how this Vote on deciding the Leagues and Payouts might have been corrupt.
It is fairly clear that one Club in particular has from the off tried to get a Loan out of Athens SPFL for their League Position without a League Decision actually being declared.
It also apparent that he suspects the motivation for this being down that Clubs own financial situation being not very healthy.

It is my opinion that when all of this has been concluded The 2angers should be charged with bringing the game into disrepute.
Failure to punish a Club for effectively trying to destabilise the whole setup for their own benefit will only encourage them (or other Clubs) to do likewise should this situation arise again in the future.
Going off what Scientists are saying that is not beyond the realm of possibility.

So kudos to him for sticking to the facts and being very upfront about who said/done what and more importantly why.

  4. Apart from Hearts and Stranraer, for obvious reasons, what other club/clubs is going to back the Rangers move?
The clubs in the lower leagues voted to end the 19/20 season basically as the leagues stood and despite the fact that the leaders in each division could all be mathematically caught by teams below them.
If this, if that………perhaps if Gerrard’s team hadn’t shit themselves after the Xmas break then some credence might be attached to their moaning.
Cue further outrage if a majority of clubs vote their resolution down but the dog whistling will have helped ST sales and added weight to their No One Likes Us claims.
    Is it any wonder?

  5. According to this mornings Dodgy Rectum, 5% of clubs have backed the call for this EGM that sevco have called for… 5%!!

There are 42 clubs in the SPFL, so to break this down into actual numbers, 10% of 42 = 4.2. 5% is half of that again – in other words, 2.1 clubs!! Since there is no such thing as 0.1 of a club, this means that ONLY TWO CLUBS are backing this motion. So – who, out of sevco, hearts, and stranraer have backed out of supporting the motion?

I sincerely hope that, after the conclusion of this egm, sevco get hammered for both wasting people’s time, and for bringing the game into disrepute! Hit them with a massive fine, and ensure it is covered under preferred creditor status, for when they go tits-up!!

  6. Apparently proxy votes on the EGM can be made as early as this week so Park and co better get their smoking gun/ secret dossier out there pronto before the clubs make up their minds.
I’d be amazed if the ‘dossier’ contains anything that’s not already been in the public eye so expect more of the same with a wee blue twist added for impact, to be followed up by their media monkeys doing cartwheels to promote Rangers view.
What a slap in the face they will get if the proxy votes don’t reflect the Ibrox ‘case.’
The bottom line of which we all know is that they will say and do anything to prevent Celtic being called/crowned 9 IAR Championees.
Why don’t they have the guts just to come out and say it?
If the SPFL clubs vote stops Rangers in their tracks will that be the end of it?
No chance, they have ST’s to sell to ensure their very survival so no doubt the dog whistle will be wiped down and be back in action within days.

  8. Can someone explain to me the “logic” behind Aberdeen’s proposal to play games behind closed doors.
The logistics of putting this together are impossible to my simple mind…so why are they pushing this ?
As far as I’m concerned…it will never happen.
Also a wee message to Sevco lurkers…
If you think your Club is being shafted by the Authorities…welcome to our world.
George Graham 1952/ Glasgow Magistrates 1972/ Queen’s Park 1994/95….Removal of Tri-colour and “Foreign Flags”.
    James Callaghan ( referee ) 1969…Disgraceful treatment.
Sir Minty Moonbeams/ Jim Farry/ Gordon Smith/ Campbell Ogilvie/ Stuart Regan/ Nimmo Smith…all ” connected ” and all hell bent on protecting the Govan Club…by whatever it takes.
EBT’s/ Side letters/ blatantly ignored and shoved under the carpet.
When you can produce a list like that…then maybe…just maybe…we’ll listen.

    • It’s clear that there will be no football before September at the earliest.
No season tickets for next season can be sold till there is clarity on this. Furthermore, as in Celtic’s case, the fans will be entitled to a refund/ discount for the 4 home games that will not be played in 2019/20, say roughly 20% of their ST value.
The same will apply to the other clubs which will cause them huge problems. Some of them will not survive, especially those with millions of pounds due to other clubs for transfer fees, short term loans and pending legal cases of a significant nature.
It’s no coincidence that EBT Rae is on radio demanding that if a club goes into admin there should be no points deduction in the new season.
Of course Rae has hee haw interest in anyone else apart from the Ibrox club whose plunge into admin will have little to do with the Coronavirus but more to do with the millions spent on transfer fees, wages and legal fees due to the gross mismanagement of the club and Kingco pandering to Gerrard’s demands whether they can afford it or not.
No lessons have been learned from the previous entity’s fate.
It beggars belief that by the time the Sports Direct shambles is put to bed, who knows when that may be, that the revenue stream from merchandising will show a negative return when the £3m already paid to SD, plus a significantly larger amount still to be quantified, is taken into account.
I don’t know who was handling Rangers legal business when the SD contract was signed but questions have to be asked.
Were the board aware of the SD matching clause but decided to just feck Sports Direct despite advice from their legal experts to take a different route?
The amount of legal cases since 2012 is no coincidence when the man calling the shots knows best. The costs must be horrendous and if King’s departure is permanent then their will be much gnashing of teeth within the legal profession in UK as they wave goodbye to a significabt amount of income.
Still waiting on someone in the media to ask Gerrard for his take on how the EPL should be brought to a completion if the outstanding games can’t be played.
Null and void Stevie, or does that only apply to the SPFL?

  9. I await with bated breath…our Club’s next step here.
I do understand that they are taking legal advice….that’s understandable and acceptable.
However..IF…and its a reasonable IF….they are advised that it shouldn’t be pursued legally…will that be the end of the matter ?
The reason I ask is…the Club has proved to be pretty useless when it comes to us being insulted…and I don’t see it changing any time soon.
The amount of crap that’s written about us is legendary…but still we do nothing about it.
Well this prick’s comments are totally and utterly unacceptable….so over to you Celtic.
Or will the Club song be changed from “The Sound of Silence”…to….” Silence is Golden” ?

    • When you’re winning does media bias matter as Scott Brown says “we do our talking on the pitch.” If we want Celtic to ban media openly hostile to Cetic then you won’t need social distancing at Celtic press conferences!! Rangers have only banned the BBC due to 1 individual so they are happy with eg Talksport, the Daily Record.the Sun,STV (with whom they have a contractual agreement),Sky Sports News the Herald and the Times all of whom show maximum support for anything Rangers eg the Morelos racism and the SPFL proposal, trivalise/ignore Celtic successes and maximise Celtic failings. These are probably the “enemies” Peter Lawwell referred to at an AGM – best to keep close reply to nothing and only provide them with good stories like a “Quad Treble.”

  11. This is an ingenious move by Sevco. The board cannot and will not do anything as this grenade he has lobbed, comes in the shape of a can of worms. Perhaps it is a can of worms that should be opened but it is one none the less.
It also begs the question, ” What is a football club, exactly?”. The Investors, the Board, the fans, the stadium or the History? All of them? Who makes the decisions?
Either way, any legal move would require identifying those responsible, at the time, declaring under oath just how much they knew about any wrongdoings.
Any move to “muddy the waters” on Celtic’s part would be seen as morally wrong. It is “stalemate” as any move by Celtic would lead to trouble, deserved or otherwise.

  12. I wonder if Mike Graham has shared his description of Celtic with Rod Stewart? A couple of years ago Rod appeared on a radio show hosted by Mike Graham and Mike Parry (The Two Mikes). Afterwards, Rod invited both to a Celtic game against Sevco. He flew them up and back in his private jet. Subsequently, both Mikes spoke of how much they enjoyed the experience.
Maybe they can have a chat when they next meet up.

    • We might have a laugh at the sevco club and their gullible Klan fans but at least the new club fight their corner at every opportunity . Now look at our club the dirt and accusations thrown at it and our fans over the years right up till this day and what do get in backing or statements NOTHING . Sometimes we need to take a step back and have right good look at ourselves before we judge sevco and their Klan when us as fans sit back and watch as our club does nothing in response to anything thrown at us but take our money .

  14. I know nothing of this guy and his radio station but if he communicated that message regarding Celtic FC I would anticipate him sacked.

The SPFL have clearly decided to call Sevco’s bluff. With an EGM scheduled for 15 days time, I would anticipate the damning evidence to be released to all 42 clubs for consideration in no more than five days.

Allegations are not evidence. Everyone now awaits evidence.

Turn your cards Sevco and let’s see your busted flush.

  15. All comments are my own is not a defence in code of conduct policies. I know, I write them.

I have no visible social media accounts simply due to this fact, clowns like him think the disclaimer allows freedom of speech and therefore allows him immunity when it comes to employment law, it doesn’t for one second.

I also see a tweet that points out our friend Quark on SSCB saying “No club should be punished for going into administration”

I tell you, this administration event is coming, they knew it ages ago and getting money from SPFL for placings without ending the season in whatever way was all about this. 2nd place prize money is more than 4th due to points reduction.

Fuck me, I was gonna say something about integrity but there is none.

    • So sevco get their way again on the demand about an inquiry I told people on here if they make enough noise without reply they’d get their way and it’s happened . Now if and when they do show some evidence and it’s laughed away they will move on to the refs that have been in charge of our games . This is already gathering pace over on FF .

  16. Not surprising that most people have never heard of Graham. A pretty mediocre radio presenter and not exactly coherent. Small wonder about his past collaboration with the unworldly Daily Express. He’s already waylaid Liverpool FC. Would be interesting to know if he’s trying to attract more listeners, or attain favoritism from the bigoted club Klan.

  18. Celtic should ban all Scottish media from CP. Also ban any English title that has a Scottish edition, because they are all hun scum. Enough is enough. We should also tell the rest of the SPFL to shove the TV deal up their ass next time around and strike out on our own. We don’t get anywhere near what we could from the TV revenues, all to fund 39 clubs who are ran by (at best) a bunch of glorified bowling club committees! Pathetic wee men with parochial self-interest. They may do a lot for their communities but they do NOTHING to improve the standard of the game here. That some (many?) small clubs will go to the wall because of this COVID situation is a blessing, trust me.

    • I would suggest letting them all in,letthem get settled, close the doors behind them and before a single question is asked from any of them get each of them to answer for whatever absolute pish they have written about the Club that week.
Even get the Club QC to ask the questions.
      They then have two options:
A Answer the question and fully justify their own words.
B Ask to leave without getting a single quote from anyone at the Club.

I think you will find this a far more productive approach than simply banning them.
My guess is either the stories will stop and they will resort to reporting the known facts OR they won’t come back off their own volition.

  23. The club need to take a stand in regards the media. There seems to be a mentality within media circles that Celtic are fair game. The Talkradio media group which includes Talksport have history when it come sto villifying out club. Adrian Durham being another culprit, his hatred of Celtic bad their fans is no secret but when he linked Scott Browns celebration at Parkhead with a Celtic fan being stabbed in a city centre bar, it was too far, yet the club did nothing.
I’m reminded also of how Sky sports (supporting Rangers seems to be a precondition for employment) have treated the club as well, the Clubs communications team appear clueless and dont see it as a problem or they just don’t care. We had the translate gate episode as well as the alleged racist abuse video that was never produced. Constant attacks by various media outlets have been let go by the club to the extent that journalists think we are just fair game. It needs to stop, people need to be put in their place and Celtic and their fans should be shown the respect they deserve. It’s almost as if there’s an undercurrent of anti Irish Catholic bigotry running through these media platforms…… couldn’t possibly be.

    Reply
    • Anti-Irish Catholic bigotry runs right through Scottish society and has for well over a hundred years. Haven’t you noticed?

In my humble opinion it has actually worsened since 2012 and the death of the original occupants of the Dome of Debt.
