A choreographed conflict conceals a looming crisis

This week has not been an easy one for the Sevco High Command.

Many of their fans are demanding that they produce the evidence that they claim to have from a whistle-blower.

However, their public discomfort is as nothing to what they have to face up to in private.

I am told that by Monday at the latest there will have been an emergency sit down by the Sevco High Command.

The club has zero revenue, and there are still bills to pay and the prospect of some substantial invoices in the near future.

It is clear from social media that the preferred narrative of the Sevco High Command is accepted by the Ibrox klanbase.

At the next scheduled conclave, they will discuss some unthinkable options.

This is a club with zero revenue and bills piling up.

Of course, the COVID-19 crisis has eased some of their worries.

It will be some months before Hector’s arrears are chased.

Therefore, do not expect Taxman to go to the Vat Poles just yet.

I understand that the  Sevco High Command meeting will have to take place before next Monday.

Last night an impeccably well-placed source took me through their current financial situation, and it was a bleak vista.

I was reminded of what is in front of the chaps in the Blue Room:

The secured loan to Close Brothers and Mr King’s loan.

Court cases involving Ashley, Elite/Hummel and finally Memorial Walls.

No kit supplier.

The new chairman is no long-term benefactor, and this reality has been relayed to the board.

Then there is the back pay that the first-team squad will be owed when the lockdown ends.

My source totalled up the likely bill, and at all times erred on the conservative side.

His final point was that even if all of the season ticket holders renewed, then there would be very little left for operating cash.

Essentially his analysis was that when football re-opens, Sevco will be in serious trouble.

Finally, he told me that the Sevco High Command had made a final rallying call to the usual suspects for some soft loans.

The answer from all of them in these recessionary times was a flat “no!”

At the end of the tutorial, I had a deep admiration for the deflection exercise that they had deployed apropos the 2019-2020 league positions.

Although the basket of assets is in desperate need of life-saving austerity, it was very much a case of money well spent on crayons.

The “whistle-blower” claim worked for a news cycle.

However, in the digital age, that doesn’t last long.

Some of Sevco’s customers have already started to twig that it was all piss and wind.

Most of Sevco’s klanbase is not looking at the financial situation; instead, the SPFL have executed a Machiavellian plan drawn up by their preferred Bond villain.

The reality is much more prosaic.

Follow follow the money.

  1. Strange is it not that there’s not been a single club mumping about Dundee United or Cove Rangers being called as Champions in their respective leagues with a similar points lead as Celtic have at the moment.
No media agenda for them with reference to asterisks or 8 1/2 in a row as mooted by the clown that is Alistair Johnston, who for reasons known only to the SFA is still the subject of an enquiry into his Fit and Proper status with regards to joining the Ibrox board.
This has gone on for months and months and of course the fans are the last to know what’s going on.
It’s way past time for the invisible man at Hampden, the SFA CEO, to put his head above the parapet and update Scottish football on the matter.
From a fans pespective there must be a serious issue if the SFA has not cleared Johnston to take his place on the Ibrox club’s board.
On a separate issue is the signatory of the Rangers 2011/12 fraudulent UEFA licence waived through by the SFA still involved in Scottish football or any football related matters whatsoever?
    If so why?

  2. Perhaps Park throwing toys from his pram is more fuelled by King’s departure leaving Park as the bank of last resort.
No doubt Park has.made a few bob over the years but the family fortune is being whittled away on a club/ company/thingy that since 2012 has never made a profit and racked up losses of around £50 million pounds.
Is Park looking for a way out and using the spat with the SPFL as his escape route?

    Reply
    • Everyone with a blue tinge is now looking to Park to be benevolent. It is expected. It is what real Rangers Chairmen do 🤣.

King said bye bye and replaced JABBA with the DUP. Park is saddled with finance expectation, the DUP and Coronavirus lockdown no revenue.

He cracked after five minutes. He needs to apologise.

  3. What the blue facing media completely ignore is that Celtic want to play the outstanding games and probably increase the gap with the perennial losers.
However as each day goes by the chances of that are fading fast.
Rangers have put themselves in a corner with next to no support from the rest of Scotland’s clubs.
Why is that? Because none of the others are driven by an agenda that would deny Celtic 9 IAR.
9 will drive them crazy but when 10 IAR comes along the pain will be unbearable. In their heads they know that it was this season or never.
Celtic will come out of the pandemic in a much better place financially than the Ibrox club, that’s a given and will stroll to the magic number 10.
The media is so desperate to fight the blue side’s corner that has beens from years back are filling the back pages spouting pure shite.
If Celtic hit the cash back option or reduce ST prices for the new season for the home games that won’t be played can you imagine Rangers plight?
This financial year’s results will have to include a provision for the Sports Direct bill for which their board will already be aware of the number.
The results will make last year’s £14m loss look reasonable. If Park is now the bank of last resort. and no one from the far east is throwing £20 million at the problem, then they are in deep shit.
No one is buying a car, no one is hiring a bus, no one is buying Morelos for £30m, perhaps not even €10m.
The Gerrard experiment is proving to be a costly exercise with another trophyless season behind them, apart from the Close Season Cup once again taking pride of place in the Ibrox trophy room.
With King well removed from the front line is he still calling the shots from South Africa?
I suppose news of a legal challenge to the SPFL next week will confirm that to be the case or not.

  4. Rangers and their Chairman Mr Park’s reputation is on the floor.

I’ve been a corporate investigator for over 20 years. I did my training in the USA and have attended numerous short courses and symposiums ever since to keep my competence current.

I investigate numerous failures from accidents, incidents, financial irregularities, suspected criminal activity, theft, non conformance with company rules and procedures, sabotage, etc….

No one can authorise an investigation without evidence of an incident or wrongdoing.

The SPFL cannot investigate anything nor appoint an investigation team (minimum two people) before first reviewing evidence that it merits taking forward. A detailed specific allegation is required.

From the media, it seems there’s a low end accusation that a rule or regulation was not followed correctly. This would probably require a Quality Auditor and Audit to determine possible non compliance and recommend future improved controls.

At the other end of the scale, if there’s an accusation of criminal wrongdoing then Rangers have a duty to bring their evidence to the Police, make a complaint and have the police investigate to determine a crime.

Is Mr Park making a criminal allegation?

    Reply
    • The gravitas of Park’s accusation and the fact they want three SPFL top men removed suggests the alleged wrongdoing is massively serious. Not a minor rule transgression issue.

I suggest they take their evidence to the police.

I’m sure after five minutes of review, the police would arrest Park for waisting police time.

What we have Is a malicious unsubstantiated accusation which MUST be backed up with evidence or the accusation withdrawn and an apology offered by Park.

Executives don’t step down from their roles based on unsubstantiated mouthing off.

The SPFL could start a disciplinary action against Park and he would need to pull out his evidence to defend himself.

On balance, I suggest RIFC PLC employ a QC to review their evidence and report publicly if he thinks there is a case to answer or whether it’s all Junk.

      Reply
      • Further, in Scotland you need substantiated evidence from two or more sources.

I don’t believe there is any evidence. If there happens to be evidence it’s worthless if it stands alone unsubstantiated.

What we witnessed was a furious reaction from Sevco and Caley that their premeditated spike of the vote was not fruitful and in their disbelief allowed their furious anger to spill into the media.

        Poker players they are not.

Thankfully these amateurs are not spies or people would get caught.

  5. Daily Record, daily liar. What kind of journalist writes an article claiming Betfred as the biggest bookmaker in the world when a quick check on the internet shows that Bwin, headquartered in Vienna, is by far the largest in the world?
I suppose an article claiming that the 2nd, 3rd, 4th biggest bookmaker in the world not paying out on Celtic’s 9 IAR might not carry the same weight!
Does Mark Walter really exist? If he ever pops up again making a claim that can be shot down in 30 seconds can we believe a word that he writes?

    Reply
    • If BET365 are taking the “null and void” route it is for one reason and for one reason only, it is their cheapest financial option. Giving everyone their money back must be cheaper than paying out winnings based on the current standings.

      We gamble….they don’t!

  6. A previously unheard of Mark Walter has popped up in the Daily Ranger with the news that the Stoke based Betfred won’t be paying out on Scotland’s champions elect being called early.
Betfred the biggest bookmakers in the whole wide world he claims as support for his article.
Really? What about the mega companies in China, USA,and others in Asia?
Like a lot of the shite that the Record spins this is no more than another puff piece to reflect their view that Celtic cannot be awarded 9 IAR, to be closely followed by 10 IAR because…….well, just because!
A newspaper that allows the likes of Jackson to write the Motherwell billionaire with wealth off the radar article, a complete lie based on nothing more than a PR piece handed to him from Ibrox, cannot be trusted in any matter, football or otherwise.

    Hardly a scandal.
Their attempts to make it a scandal are scandalous.
    The DR is scandalous.
Everything in the DR should be ignored by anyone in SCOTTISH football governing bodies.
The DRs days as an opinion former are long gone. It’s merely a Sevco fanzine. The more it’s ignored the less power and influence it wields. Player Buying clubs certainly ignore it, particularly wrt Sevco player values.

Boyd’s suggestion the SPFL should invite an independent investigation to put egg all over Sevco faces is a rather dullard attempt to be clever. No self respecting sporting body would invite anyone in. Particularly if at the insistence of one thoroughly unscrupulous new club.

No need to apologise Kris, we already know you are far from the brightest light in the room.
I’m sure all the rest of Scottish football, clubs and fans alike, would support an independent enquiry into our football authorities actions.
Lets get it all out there.
      The Jim Farry scandal
      Lord Nimmo Smith’s contribution.
Bryson and his ‘imperfect’ EBT solution.
Why the trophies won during the full scale cheating during the EBT years were never stripped.
The fraudulent, criminal, UEFA licence application made by Rangers 2011/12 and waived through by the SFA despite everyone and their auntie being aware of the unpaid tax.
I’ve often wondered why Whyte, when charged with numerous offences and put on trial only to walk Scot free, never had the criminally fraudulent licence application added to his charge sheet?
Of all the muck thrown at him it’s always seemed strange to me that this wasn’t included, very strange indeed given the clear cut evidence available.
Lets also not forget that the person who signed the UEFA licence application, in the full knowledge that overdue taxes were outstanding, has never been charged with the crime, and is still walking our streets and occasionally pops up on the sports pages giving his jaundiced view on Scottish football.
Yep Kris, with you all the way on this one, lets get it all out there and see where it leads us, certainly not in the direction you think nor understand.

  8. The thing that get me about the manky mob is even if they have a case, and a valid one , we know and they know that they don’t care if it is valid or not, it has never been a problem for them in the past to lie, cheat, and steal,so as to be seen to be first, as long as they can declare “we are the people”, and march about as if they are a superior race, honesty or decency has never played a role.

They are as a club even as a new version of the old liquidated rangers, becoming less relevant as other clubs who would at one time have bowed down to them when they ruled the SFA etc have seen through the mindset of the “we are the people” as they too have been ripped off often enough, that the truth or lies coming out of Ibrox are now classed as the same, Its the old story of the Boy who cried wolf, no one believes or trusts them anymore.

They are in turmoil and have been since being reformed as a new club but with all the baggage of the old, but now unlike in the day of yore the threats and bully-boy tactics dont work anymore, and of course with Celtic doing 9 in a row again they are becoming even more distraught but wait until next year when we start to pull away from them to get the magical holy number ten, the squealing will be beyond belief, and we do it as a club originally formed by and for Irish Immigrants and their descendants in a hostile environment, without resorting to cheating, media help or secret societies to use underhand tactics, we are and have been able to achieve greatness as a football club and establish a fitting memorial to those who formed our club and came before us to play the Glasgow Celtic way ans those who continue to do so .

That is something they have and will never understand.

  9. The Daily Record have been reporting in articles that Dundee FC voted then changed their vote with the SPFL against the rules.

This is incorrect but part of their perception peddling, agenda driven inaccuracy to prop up the Rangers lies.

Park made public allegations. Park must back them up publicly or apologise. Can’t back them up? Everyone must presume you’re a liar.

Simply using the SPFL vote to be bad boys, try the wind up on cellick fans, and keeping the old firm Us and yous rivalry going during the lockdown. A deliberate commercial strategy to keep gullible fans onboard and not drift away. It’s also a massive squirrel to distract from their financial crisis.

  11. This whole scenario is beyond a joke. There is only one club in the top flight who can feel aggrieved if the season is curtailed and that is Hearts because they have a fighting chance of staying up if the fixtures are completed. I fail to understand what the Ibrox club and their cheerleaders are complaining about. They are currently in second place and will remain in second place whatever happens.

Without a merit-based resolution in the event of there being no more fixtures, which looks increasingly likely, there is no prize money on merit, no European spot up for grabs – nothing! Is that really what they want?

  12. Some elderly journalist on radio earlier today. He referred to this season being the biggest disaster in Scottish football history. Meantime everyone else thought it might’ve been the EBT debacle, or the Klan’s hundred seasons of rejecting players from different faith. Maybe even Ibrox’ long standing collusion with our footballing hierarchy/match officialdom. There are endless examples.

    • Yeah, I heard Mr Keevins making that statement and immediately thought about the cheating EBT years and the many tainted titles and cups awarded to a new club. You are 100% correct about their bigotted policy of not signing Catholics, or even employing them in any capacity for such a long time – even more disgraceful than the cheating. Wee Hugh knows how not to upset the bigots – divert, divert, divert. Celtic need to ban all such soup-takers and others of that ilk from entering Celtic Park in future.
