Washing your hands would prevent faecal-oral transmission of say gastroenteritis(as a sub note I was present at a lecture by the late professor Duguid who incidentally discovered how penicillin breaks down the bacteria cell wall and he literally took a piece of toilet paper wiped his bum with it and said don’t ever forget that and clearly I never did)
Coronavirus is droplet spread , as is it’s cousin influenza ;so the more confined the space the more likely the transmission
The Scottish wind alone will dissipate this thing . Shutting outdoor stadiums will do little to prevent spread .
I wish professor Duguid was still alive to advise our governments . I’m convinced he would be watching Dundee United having put this nonsense to bed.
More people in the UK die from the common cold so why are they so paranoid? Do they know more than they are letting on? Is this something that escaped from a lab rather than simply a mutation of the common cold?
In the grand scheme of things this won’t bother the vast majority of the population ( other than a cold and stay in bed for a couple of days ) SO, why are they reporting it as if it’s the black death? Why go to such great lengths to quarantine 16 million people? Why don’t they quarantine people every winter due to the common cold or flu?
Time for some freedom of information and less scaremongering.
Tell that to the relatives of those who have died from this virus. There have been 276 deaths in northern Italy. OK, we haven’t got anywhere near this figure in the UK but viruses spread rapidly. It’s better to be over cautious than complacent.
It will probably boil down to being Scott Brown ‘s fault. I’m not kidding. Apparently he ate a Chinese meal once.
The reason is because of the death rate of the disease. More people get the common cold than have this. As it is just a new virus they don’t know the potential of it and how it mutates. As it stands just now it is not that mush to worry about unless you are very young/old or have ore existing health issues.
This could all change in days or weeks if it does mutate.
The governments have to give this information out. Am sure you would be raging if your mum or dad died of it and the government had just came out and said ” it’s cool, more people die of the common cold

The common cold, flu and Spanish Flu are viruses.

The Spanish Flu covered up? Fairly well documented as far as I can see. Covered up in the last seven or eight months of WW1 by the British and US Governments who in all probability had no idea what they were dealing with at the time, but not after the war. It had already been widely reported in the Spanish press by that time, leading to the mistaken belief that it originated in Spain.
They’ve actually manged to track the origins back to a specific chicken farm. Can’t off the top of my head remember where, but Ohio or Oregon seem to ring a bell. It was basically a particularly virulent bird flu that crossed over to humans.
Oh aye, another thing. Some estimates put the number who died of Spanish Flu as high as 100 million.
Find yourself a copy of Dean Koontz’s book, The Ryes Of Darkness, which he wrote in 1981. He scarily wrote about a “deadly virus” originating in a place called “Wuhan”. If I could only post the evidence here…
Ok since the post above, I have found out there is a chemical and biological lab in Wuhan:
China’s first BSL-4 lab at the Wuhan Institute of Virology.
This lab handles the most deadly and virulent pathogens, and others have noted this could be where it started. They are claiming it’s close to a bat disease that was first found 1000 miles away from Wuhan in 2003.
