Dear reader, I have some very grave news for you.
You’re going to die.
For the avoidance of doubt, so is your humble correspondent.
In fact, everyone you know is going to die.
The chances are though it will not be because of coronavirus.

Sadly, there is a LOT of very dodgy reporting on the subject.
However, here is a sensible evidence-based piece from the BBC.
Please read it and get some sense of perspective.
Here also is some commonsense advice from the health authorities here.

The fekkin thing has already arrived here.
This is a happy house as the Big Fella just arrived from his time in South Korea.
We will have him home for a few months and it feels like a lottery win.
Our gain is Seoul Gaels’ loss.

Ok, I’m biased, but he’s a very dependable cornerback!
He pointed me to this story, and it is mind-boggling what religious delusions will achieve even in the face of scientific fact.
One unforeseen consequence of this potential global pandemic is the impact on Planet Football.
This piece in the New York Times is worth your time.
It is even possible that precautions to stop the spread of the virus in England could deny Liverpool their moment of triumph.
If the British government decides that large gatherings like football matches are to be banned, then Celtic’s inexorable march towards Nine In A Row would also need to be halted.
No doubt this would seem like divine intervention to the Ibrox klanbase.
In the end, Bill Shankly’s wonderful observation about football being more important than a matter of life and death was always just heart-warming hyperbole.
It isn’t.
Public safety must trump all other considerations.
If health is at risk, then football matches will have to be either stopped altogether or played behind closed doors.
If the former happens then Celtic and Liverpool will not win their respective leagues.
Now, if it is the latter approach, then how will a certain eight-year-old club in Glasgow pay their bills?
As regular readers know the Sevco High Command are hugely dependent on match day revenues.
Moreover, they have no cash reserves and no credit line from a bank.
Did I mention that they were a loss-making business?
Ah, those unforeseen consequences, it could be the death of them…
They would just be like Rangers then!

Doctor, doctor, will I die? Yes, my son, and so will I.
Every remaining game could be recorded as a nil nil draw. Problem solved!
Stop the press. EBT recipient Bazza has the answer to Gerrards problems, just splash the cash!
That’s a belter coming from someone who declared himself bankrupt in the face of tax demands from HMRC.
I wonder how the revenue is getting on with collecting the tax from the dozens of others party to the Ibrox EBT beanfeast?
With Alex Rae’s much trumpeted investment claim yet to see the light of day doesn”t Ferguson and his ilk not realise that their former club is running on fumes and any extra revenue from a Europa run will only help keep the lights on and reduce the losses stacking up?
Close Bros and Sports Direct both have skin in the game and at some stage both will have to be squared up.
Tick tock……
I doubt if ANY team in Scotland other tha Celtic could afford to play out the rest of the season behind closed doors.
I also think we’re jumping the gun a bit here. Any close down would surely be dependent on the rate of spread of the virus. If Celtic go about their business properly the title could be tied up before any ban kicked in.
We can wrap it up in six league games IF we beat sevco at Ibrox. The best they could then do would be draw level on points IF they won ALL their other games AND beat Celtic at Parkhead. The goal difference is such that it would take a monumental collapse by Celtic for Sevco to overturn it.
Can sevco no just dip into their close overdraft.? 🙂
You can bet your last dime FFP rules would go out the Coronavirus window as the Govt weighs in.
80,000 Chinese out of 1.2 billion have virus that’s 0.00006667% of population.
3% of that proves fatal, or 2,900 out of that 80,000.
NOT 3% OF THE POPULATION!!
The virus has not been across the entirety of China.
So far…
Hence your figures are erroneous.
Every single region of China has had it for three weeks and reported their cases. No region of China does not have it. Yes figures will increase. They are increasing at a slower rate.
Someone below reported 3% of UK population, 2million, that’s erroneous and scaremongering and a wrong figure!
Wuhan City has 11.08million people. About 40,000 in two months have tested positive for Coronavirus.
The Chinese lockdown and self isolation model is the optimum approach to defeating this.
The economy suffers but hey ho!
Phil that’s exactly what he said … only 80,000 not the entire population of China.
1% of 80k is 800 x 3 = 2,400.
Wee Shug Keevins on radio snyde earlier having a rant about sevco and their troubles and how they are still not out of the title race just yet . One of the points he raised was finances at the distressed new club and what could happen in the summer . All wee Shug had to do to get the answer to that question was ask wee Quark sitting beside him in the studio . This was the guy who told everyone who would listen to him before Christmas that nega-money was to be invested in the new club in January. But hey guess what it must have slipped wee Shugs memory what Alex Rae was talking about way back in December as Shug never got answer to his question and the man had all the answers sitting right beside him . Oh dear .
I see Danny Murphy right on the defensive mode about his best pal the sevco manager unlike the Murphy’s I do hope he is not bitter if you pardon the pun . Anyway all is well with Mr Let’s Go according to Murphy . He said Stevie is not a quitter he still has everything to play for this season it’s not a failure. He then goes on to say look Celtic lose 2 games and Stevie wins the 2 against Celtic the league is there all is not lost. He has been a success at Rangers look where they are now to when he took over in a far better place than then . There is lots to play for this season. Oh dear the Kool aid is in good supply then . Oh and on another subject Lenny was asked if he fails to win the treble this season is it a failure . Oh dear a succulent lamb journalist at their best .
The Klan actually cried this out on one of their sites last night . As I had posted previously some clown on FF was shouting from the rooftops for the Coronavirus to spread throughout Europe and bring all football matches to a halt just to stop us in our tracks for 9 in a row . As the saying goes of the Klan member who posted that comment if he had brains he would be dangerous.
If brains were dynamite, the klan wouldn’t even have enough between them to allow just one of them to blow their nose!!
Every other day of the week everyone and anyone that had ago at morelos got shouted down by the Klan as being racist because they had an opinion of him . Fast forward to Saturday night the sevco manager drops him from the squad completely binned right out of the picture for serious disciplinary reasons . And guess what nothing is mentioned on their sites about morelos being treated unfairly by their manager but anyone else who raises their voice on morelos is shot down in flames . Remember previously on their sites everyone was driving morelos out of Scottish football for being against him . Now it’s his manager the rules have changed or pardon the pun moved the goalposts and it’s all quiet over at ibrox on this .
I don’t think league championships won’t be abandoned.
Play all games behind closed doors. No one club would have an advantage.
I doubt it will happen, but if matches were to be cancelled due to the medical situation, would season ticket holders be due relevant portion of their tickets refunded? Likewise would sponsors (shirt sponsors for example) and corporates be due refunds due to diminished exposure? Could have significant financial impact on several clubs. How would promotion/relegation be affected? Would imagine that would be similarly affected as the top flight, as in null and void. However say Dundee United are so far ahead that promotion was guaranteed. Almost certain the owners would not accept it and would end up in court. Situation would be even trickier if no team mathematically certain of relegation when season called off.
Did they refund you for the proven cheated 12 years of Rangers EBT 15 titles?
No. To avoid repayments for all three cheated cups over 12 years, they dissolved the SPL Company and started the SPFL Company which had no liability in law for the corruption or recompense.
Any ticket holder can walk into a police station quoting the Supreme Court decision on EBTs and raise allegations of corruption at the SFA, SPL; League Cup, Scottish Cup and Premiership and it would have to be investigated. Get a crime number.
Misrepresentation comes to mind too in advertisements for season tickets as punters thought they were fair competitions with fair clubs operating within the rules. One club won everything through cheating.
Punters who laid on bets for 12 years were unlawfully fleeced too through Rangers corrupting the game.
The Scottish Government should buy ten million anti viral face masks and issue two each.
Not the paper stop infection out but the enclosed expensive stop infection in type.
Sevco wouldn’t mind going bust at all if it stopped nine in a row. That would be a result for them.
Rangers are immortal and going bust and liquidating isn’t the death of the club. Which continues as a new but same Clumpany!
I doubt if they could source 10 million worldwide right now.
3 % equares to 2,000,000 people in the UK.
Not sure that should be downplayed.
Around 17,000 die in Britain from the flu each year. 150,000 – 155,000 world wide. That’s a normal year, NOT a year where there’s a particularly bad strain doing the rounds.
I should probably have made clear hat the 17,000 figure is an average. Last winter 2018-19 the figure was slightly under 1,700 but in 2014-15 for example it was over 28,300.
Not everyone will catch it.

a picture paints a thousand words which is great because it saves me the bother.
The Impecunious kid may have problems
But, Phil…
Sevco wont die – they have squillions of quids coming in from reaching the last 16 of the EL! In reality, they will probably earn about £5 million for their efforts. What they tend to forget is that that dumb is deferred, or in other words, wont hit their coffers until at least the early/mid 20/21 season. The quantum of the monies owed to SDI have yet to be announced. The Close Bros loan will be due for repayment. Ol’ Googly Eyes will be looking for his loan to be settled too.
If anybody is looking for investment tips, I’d suggest investing in Slater Menswear. I sense a huge demand for dark suits and black ties very soon.
Simple resolution is play remaining games behind closed doors.
If as touched on the league’s were to be nil and void surely all season ticket money would have to be returned and only league cup money kept as that’s the only tournament played to its end ?
I think you’ve forgotten about the mystery investor that wee Nosferatu referred to Stephen. Sure, it’ll all be fine. 😂 HH
Get yer arse doon tae Slaters – just in case!! 😉
