It must have been rather annoying for the genuine journalists within the Times stable to receive an internal email recently.
The recipients were warned not to be discussed or shared with anyone.
Actually I thought that was rather sweet.
The author of the in-house missive felt the need to state the crushingly obvious about the basics of journalism.
Of course, there are only a few guilty men in this HMRC squirrel nonstory.
However, in the aftermath of the Llewellin sanctioned clusterfuck, it was deemed politic to email EVERYONE in the organisation who produces content for publication.
It goes without saying that the Work Experience Exclusive (WEE) was distilled pish.
Unsurprisingly it was enthusiastically swallowed by the Ibrox klanbase.

Quite simply it told them what they wanted to believe about the entire saga that led to the death of the original Rangers.
I’m told that the content of the email was redolent of type of lecture that is given to first-year journalism students.
Well, I did say it was annoying…
The journos were reminded that it was standard practice to have TWO independent sources before a story could be considered solid.
Rather embarrassingly the author of the email thought it necessary to remind these members of the Fourth Estate that anything emanating for PR companies was NOT a trusted source.
That this email was considered even necessary by the folk at the top of the Murdoch organisations says rather a lot about the lack of quality at the editorial level in that blatt.
No doubt down the line changes will be made in due course.
For the avoidance of doubt, your humble correspondent has been piecing together the various components of that hugely embarrassing squirrel.
Moreover, unlike the Times, I stand by my journalism.
The unanswered questions remain extant.
Why realise that squirrel now?
A trusted source has pointed me in a specific direction and it is potentially explosive.
However, until I know more from other quarters it remains merely a theory at this stage.
Therefore, until I am thoroughly convinced I will not publish.
Something that others might consider the next time they receive a message from a PR galaxy far far away…

Doing some Xmas shopping online & was on the JD Sports Website getting a tracksuit for the wee Bhoy, when low & behold, out the corner of my eye I caught a glimpse of The Rangers Hummel Kit for Sale, how is this still happening??? They are simply taking the piss now, no wonder they think Dave can do no wrong in their eyes as nothing ever seems to change in real life, even after court case after court case goes against them.
Alas thoug, Dave is driving them into a brick wall at 100mph, the Boatd all know it’s game over so are now playing for time hoping that somebody, anybody, is daft enough to hand over 10m for Morelos.. Slight problem with that though Billy, everybody & their dog knows you’re about to fold so 3m tops & report it as undisclosed fee to the compliant media, which will send SG back down the M6 sharpish me thinks.
If only Souness or Sir Walter had free access to an English Premier League Teams cheque book this would all be gone with the scribble & a flick of a pen, alas those days are past now & in the past, they shall remain!
They had a chance to play fair and build for the future in 2012 to legitimately challenge us or lie to everyone, then die.. We know how it ends as we’ve seen it all before, they are a desperate, tortured Club, that stupid/ desperate they put all the faith in Dave cause he’s never been caught before & always finds money from somewhere, they just don’t realise it’s always out their back pockets, ah well..
Could it be that HMRC are looking at an illegal phoenix company setup. As they keep on telling everyone they are the same.
Will SDM be interested in taking over as Reichsfuhrer again, considering the circumstances have changed utterly since last time. He will not this time be allowed to use OPM in order to build a new empire. Hail Hail
No offence to the legendary Stevie Wonder, but even he can see rhe timing of this tax related squirrel points at financial disaster hurtling down the pipe. Perhaps Gector himself is dusting off his grim reeper costume, for a saunter down Ibrox way.
Thing I am stuck on is Glibby. He doesn’t play games with his own cash but it seems he has. Is he getting old and slack as shares die with the company or is he playing the long game here and outflanked the gullible investors.
Club Tropicana a conduit for cash flow but too visible for Davie boy to re-channel so where is his snout in the trough except his £10k jet in visits and legal fees.
I have an additional question to your
Why now?
.
and that is
Why HMRC??
spot on, I think a carefully scripted narrative is underway, but I don’t think even they expected it to be so viral.- It’s a blame game with King, and as Hamlet would put it….. therein lies the rub
Why HMRC is the one thats been most intriguing me. The timing is strange but the target is crazy.
The ONLY reason I can think of is that Hector is on their case again. I indicated in a previous post that I’d heard rumours to that effect but I assumed that’s all they were, rumours.
I’m now wondering if there’s maybe some substance there. If so, I can’t see pissing Hector off as being a particularly smart move. IF Hector was ever going to give them any wriggle room he certainly won’t now. The only thing it might have achieved is to galvanize the generally hard of thinking orcs into to believing that Hector is just picking on them because of that article.
SOMETHING is definitely happening in the background.
Given that the Huns-last incarnation-have previous with HMRC, the only break the Huns will get from Hector, is that they will be broken into small pieces. We live in hope. Hail Hail
How could the SPFA and SFA allow SDM to take over the reins at Ibrokes after the shit storm 7 years ago THEN AGAIN !!!
My go
Administration is just around the corner and they need to get the message sunk in to the cerebrally challenged fan base that only a Holding Company is at risk and to “Please give generously brother WATP” 🤝
Oh we playing conjecture now.
1. DK is for the off, selling his holding at a massive profit to settle south of the Limpopo.
2. DK is for the shove, his shares diluted to a price where he has no option but to accept or be ousted.
3. SG is off. League 1 vacancies maybe Championship.
No sources have been consulted in these convoluted guesses.
New Rangers have the perfect storm coming. AGAIN. Whilst this may not deliver a full and frank liquidation. I suspect it to be enough to see their Celebrity Coach head back south, the firesafe at majorly discounted rates and the accounts are going to show a black hole of £30million and no way to plug it even after the carboot sale, nevermind chase Celtic and Neil Francis Lennon’s 10IAR
A youtuber this week showed the difference in “Kulchurs” can you imagine if he’d managed a boardroom meeting comparison versus a stadium tour.
Close Bros, Big Mike, Elite, Hummel, Memorial Walls, No bank facility are just the beginning of the Sevco V Everyone Anyone fixtures. The only real difference, between now and the last time, is they are PR’d tp the hilt and they are collecting results as they go, …
pressure on SDM, Lloyds, Super Sally the celebrity, an ageing squad with old man weir, the rumours of £12million for Jelavic to Man Utd, the bright young lights of Fleck, Wylde, MacLeod, back by the talented experience of Broadfoot, Davis, Papac, Weir McCulloch and who could forget a captain great a penalties……Lee Wallace the Grass….. and a everyday narrative of £100million casino empires, the brownfield site worth £50million, and too big to let anything happen. Investors would cue up if it the debt was manageable etc…….. tell me is any of this sounding familiar.
Timing is everything and the Slippy one knows it. BUT I do have it on good authority Brand Gerrard Representatives, are actively hawking the Scouse One around and it may well be Dubai and Goodbye…. that on top of whatever lies beneath may just liquidate the spirit of Struth and replace it with something a little more refreshing….. the Truth. – What a day for journalism that would be.
Cracking Post 👍🏼
How about if they have been advised that the Ashley settlement is going to be even more than anyone anticipated
Interesting theory. So if Ashley is about to lodge a damages bill for 30+ million (and King would already know that to be coming) then he preps the upcoming PR battlefield by using a defence of “don;t overreact, that’s not the real figure as it’s over inflated same as the HMRC initial estimates”. I grant you that is clever enough to fool his fanbase (not a high bar to set) but it isn’t going to do so with anyone else.
Those figures are fanciful.
Hi Phil, i can see that on the RIFC forums they are totally convinced that the damages RE SDI’s case will be capped at £1 million. The judge however, in his own words stated that the damages will run to ‘many millions of pounds’. If i were them i would take absolutely no comfort in those words that it will be capped. In your own opinion, do you think that they should be confident that the clause they are relying on will indeed cap the damages or do you think that the damages will indeed be many millions?
Hi,I’m in China with my VPN trying to convince that my location is Los Angeles, just so that I can send this wee message. Well, moreathought really:it must feel weird knowing that the Stenography Corp are all avid readers of your blog but will never admit it or quote from it.
Oh PS I was super-proud of all the bhoys & ghirls who stood up to Fascism
I don’t know about squirrels but The Times article caused a lot of hilarity for a couple of days. My favourite was a guy on Twitter who thought that the HMRC “miscalculation” meant that RFC were due a £50m tax rebate. He asked whether this rebate was due to the Oldco and, if so, could the Oldco pass it on to the Newco to buy some players.
Its hilarious and shows a complete lack of education.
How do you get a £50m rebate on a bill that you never paid?
The thing is that when the shit hits the fan, again, the Scottish media have done such a sterling job in promoting their favourite team by feeding the fanbase exactly what they want to here, that the big bang will be a total shock to the system.
Since Gerrard took over there has hardly been a negative word written or spoken by the Scottish media.
Little surprise when you know that the wrong words can cost you your job or being banished from the Ibrox magic circle.
Did like that one myself. “Gie us back oor £50m that we never gied yeez tae start wi!!”
Ok, my go – they are using the Craig Whyte method of spending the money witheld from employees Income Tax and N.I. Contributions just to keep the lights on until them to the January sales, correct?
Thats my initial thoughts too
They couldn’t be that stup….. that’s a possibility, although I would think HMRC would still be all over them if they did it!
I suspect Hector will shortly be introduced to a game played by glesga’ weans of bygone years… CHAP THE DOOR AND RUN AWAY. Only, the thing is – when Hector chaps a big door on Edmiston Drive, he forgets to run away, but instead gets mixed up with another game called TIG, whereby whoever gets tigged with a tax demand is “it”.
Way to leave us hanging Phil!!!
But probably a good day for us all to post some theories on what it could be. I’ll start off with 2 possibilities; 1) it’s part of a means to reshape what happened back then so as to rehabilitate/pave the way for David Murray to come back in to the picture and get rid of King.
2) they have been stupid enough to engage in some new sort of tax scheme that benefits King and the Directors and there is a dispute over the ways to calculate taxation on it. They were simply trying to head off a possibly large bill arriving from HMRC as soon as this month or next?
Just in case anyone is wondering, and in the spirit of openness….. I have absolutely zero sources for this outright conjecture 🙂
