Oh dear…
I’m told that there was a rather tense exchange at Times HQ in London yesterday.
Hector, in his own quiet, ponderous way was less than ecstatic with this splash in the Times North Britain edition.

I’m sure that the words “we admit that it was not factual” were not uttered in those precise terms by an apologetic chap in their London Bridge Street offices.
However, you get the drift.
I think in the days to come that the precise provenance of this amazing exclusive will be located in a galaxy far far away.
In fact, at the time of writing, I’m pretty sure of that.
My information is that Hector pointed out to the heated landscape that the story was rooted in.
Therefore the safety of staff must be a factor at all times.
It is worth recalling the stated reason that Deloitte is now longer the auditors of RIFC.

I know that the Ibrox klanbase are fond of military metaphors.
For the avoidance of doubt, Hector didn’t launch a full counterattack today.
He didn’t need to.
A headshot was all that was necessary.

Jim Harra is a native of Tandragee in County Armagh, originally Tóin re Gaoith means “backside to the wind”.

Well, I suspect there might be a few bruised buttocks at the Times Scotland today…

Let’s look at this closely:
“The article is incorrect…”
“Inaccurate and partial reporting…”
Ouch!
Now, a cynic might conclude that the Times went with a nothing story because they wanted to believe it.
The prosaic truth is that Rangers died in the Ibrox bunker and didn’t leave a diary for posterity.
Consequently anyone hawking around some dignified journal is probably at it.
Even if we indulge this work experience front-page exclusive for a second then the lower figures so breathlessly proffered still made the original Ibrox unsellable.
Moreover, Hector still had more than enough monies owed to block a CVA in 2012.
Had HMRC been given right of reply to give balance this piece then the central part of the story would have fallen apart.
Today Hector proved that if pushed he is a man who paints houses.
Big houses.
Meanwhile, the unsurpassed dignity at Sevco never stops.

I have no comment to make on this…

The “journalist’s” name is Greig, the spelling is significant and it tells you all you need to know.
I just Googled the “journalist” in question and arrived at his Twitter account. I had the same initial ” book cover judgement” I had when I first saw “sleepy” Ian Maxwell. I believe it is still who you know that gets you in the door but, nowadays, you do not have to have the ability to stay there. Their “fathers” certainly had more gravitas, low cunning, hunger and an ability to not draw attention to themselves and the corruption.
The truth is out there, just no in the times
6pm news on STV on Wednesday referred incorrectly to the Wee Tax Case as the PAYE, NI and VAT that Craig Whytes tenure was embroiled in…..as opposed to the DOS scheme !! I ‘ m not being pedantic but
it proves how when we rely on a Natonal broadcaster for reliable info , theyre miles off….
Furthermore, the Times journalists Greig somebody, looked like a rabbit caught in a snipers crosshairs. Perhaps he was already aware of HMRCs response.
Anyway, more schadenfreude via the Tribute Act and another chapter for your next book.
Oops, might ve been Thursday .I m getting old……
But, I ask you, rhetorically, How much does STV pay into Scottish Football…?
Zilch Nada,Nil or Heehaw…
Quite honestly I’ve been enjoying every moment of this.Doesnt take much to get the hordes upset.Their dismay as they realise this is perhaps not the good news they thought it was combined with exposing the “club/company” myth is beautiful. There must be scope for a Banter Years book with accompanying DVD entitled “Who are these people? We demand to know!”.Of course that will have to wait until those years are over and,at the present rate, that is some way off yet.Love it. LOL.
Death is eternal not just for Valentines 🧟♂️⚰️🌹👋🏼
“Hearts have announced a profit of £2.9m in their annual results, with turnover rising by over 20%.
Staff costs rose by £2.2m to £8.2m, but the Tynecastle club brought in an extra £2.9m in income, helped by a rise in gate receipts and commercial activity.
However, the club received ‘exceptional donations’ totalling £3.25m.“
Note how the BBC report this and the wee snide remark at the end now compare:
“Rangers have announced a loss of £11.3m for the year ending 30 June, a decrease of £3m from the previous 12 months.
Turnover has risen by 63% to £53.2m, up from £32.6m due to reaching the Europa League group stage and record season-ticket sales.
Staff costs increased from £24.1m to £34.5m and cash spent on player signings rose from £15.1m to £23m.
“The financial year under review was again a positive one,” said chairman Dave King.
No mention of diluting or converting Debt into Shares no no its all positive spin wherever and whenever you can when it comes to the Pretengers.
Anyone would think there was an attempted deflection before an official HMRC bill lands on the doormat at the bottom of the marble staircase once owned by RFC.
Yes anyone would think that, methinks the new version of the rangers, is now also in big trouble financially, this is what happens when the truth is too hard to accept, deny all the facts and hope it all turns out ok, after all, lies and cover ups are a part of their culture.
Phil – you’re a journo… keep your eyes on a position or two being advertised in your trade paper. I’ve a feeling you’ll very submitting your cv for a sports editor at a certain high-brow newspaper soon. 😉
Cheers Steven.
However, I’m very content here in Dún na nGall 🇮🇪💚😎👍
I agree with your sentiments Steven but most of the coverage relating to Rangers tax case had no place in the sports section of any newspaper.
Similarly, the next generation stuff needs to be scrutinised by financial experts rather than ex-players and fans with laptops masquerading as journalists.
I think this is where the entire msm coverage of this saga has gone wrong from the beginning. It’s not back page news. It’s front page and business section stuff for proper journalists
Remember what they done to Craig White, and chums getting marched out the front door of Glasgow Sheriff Court to a baying mob , only in this country for one club/religion to think they never do anything wrong . Coybig
The letter looks more scathing each time I read it. If the Times had anything approaching integrity, or any sense of morality, they would print a retraction and an unqualified apology to HMRC as soon as. If they don’t their colours are well and truly nailed to the mast and a chunk of their readership will have gone.
Cheers Phil. Always count on u for the true narrative. Unbelievable things I’ve been hearing about apologies n tax rebates and stuff. Squirrel and a half. Truth is all we ask. 🤷🏻♂️ What is wrong with that. P. S get the book done already 😂
the moon howling from the placed press, the sevco rank n file, and SSB tonight for example giving it an 11 minute segment to HMRC response to th e times, and now the record, says it all.
It’s like they cheated on their partner, and then saw them in an Instagram cliche with an old enemy who they previously turned over and there sense of entitlement and anger management issues has seen them have, the most public, overly emotional crass, and frankly nauseating reaction, which would border on the sociopathic.
Celtic skelp them all over December and the implosion that 2011/12 season offered it will look like the warm up act.
Ian Archer’s words are becoming more prophetic but the decade:.
“This has to be said about Rangers … as a Scottish Football club they are a permanent embarrassment and an occasional disgrace. This country would be a better place if Rangers did not exist
Aye. And the really sad thing is, at the time he said that, the establishment looked down and foot shuffled. The fans of the dead club, in their usual total ignorance, asked what the fuck it had to do with an English man. Along with John Fairgrieve, also taken too early, he was a REAL journalist who wrote it as he saw it. If either of them was ever wrong in their assessment of a situation it truly was a GENUINE mistake. All these years later I still miss their insightful comments and columns. AND, they could spell and write in English. I know, I know!! That’s an annoying detail to a modern Journalist.
You could not mark the necks of the average kklansman using a Thermal Lance.
I think NASA studied their genetics before producing the tiles on the Shuttle.
I seem to remember that particular Adventure failed spectacularly on re entry as well.
Hahaha the gift that keeps on giving
The Rangers is simply the best at continuing its journey, making friends along the way… 😦
An affliction on Scottish football then.
An affliction on Scottish football now.
An affliction on Scottish football forever. [mibbees 🙂 ]
Newspapers printing lies? Well, only for the eyes of gullibillies and it worked a treat. Maybe the glib one could spend more of their dough taking this to the highest Court in the land. What are we going to do for laughs when the tribute act drown in their own cesspit? HH
Is this another first for ragers 1872 and their pet poodle hacks
HMRC commenting on an individual case
Ah’m daien well the night…sorry.
Were Sevco in court today …??….any update…??
Off coarse Sevco were in court today….it’s a week day.
Meant to say…
I had forgotten about that Deloitte letter…Absolute dynamite.
Yet still they walk among us.
I now await ( with bated breath) a retraction from Mighty Motor Mouth Mister McCoist ( that’s no a bad bit of alliteration btw)…who I’m sure will now apologise to HMRC for ” mis-reading ” the facts.
Oh wait a minute…this is the same guy, who over the years, made ridiculous comments on a variety of subjects it has to be said…but never apologised or was brought to task by the Authorities.
Cancel the bated breath bit…ah don’t think Ah’ll bother waitin’.
“Who are these people? I want them named!” Translated into Sevconian, “The people need to know so we can issue threats and pan their windows in!”
Are HMRC going to do their own carpentry as well now?
That letter should leave anyone even remotely associated with the story mortally embarrassed. It won’t though. You couldn’t give these guys a red neck with a blowtorch. A wee bit like the Lying King.
