Why failing against Legia this week could result in difficult times at Sevco

Apparently, Sevco’s intergalactic PR guru was less than Zen-like last week.

It was all because Mr Let’s Go went seriously off message in a presser.

Of course, the open goal was ignored by the assembled members of the Stenography Corps.

The resident MBE stated that he needed cover in a couple of positions.

This utterance sent up the distress flare from Johannesburg.

The Director of Fantasy was duly dispatched to get onto the manager and let him know about the financial realities.

Quite simply Mr Gerrard was told that if his galacticos stumble against Legia Warsaw then there would be no new acquisitions.

On the contrary, the Sevco manager was told that if the Poles prevail this week in Glasgow then the basket of assets would entertain ANY offer for ANY player in his squad.

Two players were definitely name-checked during the briefing:

Señor Alfredo José Morelos Aviléz and Mr James Henry Tavernier

Now, I’m told that there was interest in the Sevco captain from and English Championship club before the window closed.

The Colombia striker was also the subject of a call from a Bundesliga club.

For the avoidance of doubt, there have been NO offers.

The bad news is that, according to an impeccably placed source, is that the combined fee for the two would have been only £5.5m.

Of course, should the Polish team eliminate Sevco then almost certainly the vultures will start circling over Ibrox.

It is well known in agent land that it then would be a place of distressed sales and therefore low ball offers would have a good chance of being accepted.

Various factors are starting to surround the Sevco High Command now:

The UEFA/FARE issue won’t go away you know.

General Ashley remains on the battlefield with his legal divisions and the probability of a large bill for the Sevco car boot sale is highly likely later this year.

Close Brothers will want their money in early 2020  well before the season ticket money starts to flow in again.

Finally, there is an increasing wage bill as Mr Let’s Go demanded two players for every position and was granted his wish by the Convict Chairman.

Consequently, Europa League revenue is vital going forward.

So there is a huge amount riding on the match against Legia Warsaw this week.

Sadly, they cannot count on match officials who might have…err…ethnic sympathies with the Ibrox brand.

It is just as well that those fine fellows in the Union Bears will be there to cheer on their…

Ah, I had forgotten about that.

It’s just no FARE.

So it is…

Have a great week.

  1. Cyan, I don’t believe Ted to be a Hun at all…read between the lines of previous posts from him. Do believe though, that he’s being a tad naughty in playing Devil’s Advocate. HH

Any idea what is going on at Celtic? Has Lennon been told he has to work with what he’s got? Really worrying if this is the case, a few injuries and Sevco could well take the league, our defence needs strengthened badly. Middle to front we’re probably OK domestically at least (barring too many injuries) but can’t believe the defence has not been strengthened further as Bolingoli so far at least just doesn’t seem good enough with question marks still over Jullien as well.

    • Well, to be fair, the Ibrox has been absolutely consistent.

      – a 3rd rate manager – who couldn’t hack Under-19 level at LFC
      – a 3rd rate Chairman – a criminally convicted ‘shadow chairman’
      – a 3rd rate in house lawyer – basically called a huge fibber in court
      – a 3rd rate set of accounts – with more holes than a Swiss cheese
      – a 3rd rate support – some of whom UEFA don’t want near the EL
      – a 3rd rate PR support – a guy who is just not the brightest
      – a 3rd rate squad – full of Bosmans and loanees
      – a 3rd rate stadium – which was great…in the early ’90’s

And the list could go on, and on, and on…

  3. Bury and Bolton FC’s are seriously ailing and near to death.
No doubt the English FA will be in touch with Hampden looking for advice on how the SFA/SPFL breathed life into a liquidated entity and even managed to confer the trophies of dead club/ company/thingy to Newco.
Bolton and Bury, don’t despair, death isn’t permanent, we have living proof in Scotland.
You could do worse that contacting that lovely Mr Green, or even Mr Whyte, who might be interested in getting back into the game?
Whilst half interestedly watching the Scottish news tonight for a very brief moment it looked as if we were going to hear some words of wisdom from Maxwell but no, the Scottish manager and the Scots ladies captain had their tuppenceworth.
Ah well, maybe soon we will get a statement from the invisible man viz a viz UEFA and Rangers.
Last time I looked the Ibrox club were fully paid up members of the SFA/SPFL, though the silence emanating from Hampden would have you think otherwise.
Back to Bolton and Bury, plus a number of other clubs who have overspent or spent money they didn’t have.
There could be a domino effect in England as lenders call in loans or cut off lines of credit.
The match at Ibrox on Thursday is without doubt the biggest of their season. Defeat is not an option with Close Bros already having security over everything in the stadium not nailed down and then some.
Who knows what the final bill from SD will amount to but a tasty 7 or 8 number settlement amount will be challenging for the Ibrox board though Dave is bound to have a plan so no worries there.

Celtic are not singing Ryan Kent so how can he possibly play on Sunday.
The only way Ryan Kent can run RIOT on Sunday is to put the mascot costume on and cheer yous up,

  5. From what I see, more often than not when Mr Go has a point to make or is in the background throwing his toys around, it usually coincides with him going of point in front of the cameras.

“We haven’t received any bid for El Duffalo, ever” one casing point, Andy Grey, We are not bidding for Sturridge etc. Hard to drum up a bidding frenzy when the man in the orange, embroidered trackie, says …It’s a free market, Not good for the narrative. I reckon failure on either front, this week, will see the press, be given a green light to slice at their rookie leader. After all it can not, just CAN NOT be KingCo’s fault.

Wages, and operating cost WELL above their sensible levels, high level match official agreement and a stenographic core completely on point. The stories of Celtic, losing players, missing out, having players turn them down, not be Lennon’s signings, etc etc will close as of the 2nd of September. and the European and League questions will have their first answers. The close season is over.

SO unless they completely implode. (and it could happen) the press, WILL come to realise that 9IAR has been won by Glasgow’s legitimate club and the newco are staring down the barrel of 10…… who wants the job then, even more crippling debt, than what they died with – first off, – a team full of Gerrard’s players, getting punted for anything they can get. Those who know the game of their persuasion, MacInnes MacLeish, Souey and the level of Homegrown managers of Clarke, Neill, Ross, and even the likes of Warnock ALL know, they do not want to be holding the bomb. as DD will set about Celtic next summer, and make sure his legacy is complete and The Holy Grail is delivered….

Over the next 20 months this week, will be a defining history moment…..if it goes Celtic’s way then it will take a big Mike like figure to derail the quest for 11 and upwards…….

Let’s Go, could be the most prophetic managerial soundbite since the Special One!

  7. It wasn’t FARE who got them sanctioned, it with the match delegate.
The sevco support thought is was the unseen hand with FARE who “grassed” them in.
Why can’t UEFA just be more like the SFA and respect the Klan’s right to do and say what they like
