A big day in Béal Feirste and concerned auditors

There were two significant events on Planet Sevco yesterday.

One public and the other private.

The first one was the opening of a Sevco shop in Béal Feirste.

The timing of this event shocked my guy in Shirebrook and he just simply couldn’t believe that this was happening.

Especially, after the battering that General Ashley’s legal divisions had handed out in the High Court just this week.

The other one was when RIFC’s auditors turned up yesterday for an urgent sit-down with the Serious Professional.

Apparently, they were worried about how the court case with Sports Direct had gone.

Of course, he did his best to soothe them that there was nothing to be concerned about.

However, the auditor chaps apparently had a very good grasp of how the legal arguments had been played out in the High Court.

It is indeed a blessing that RIFC is unlisted and therefore they do not have to communicate anything of these matters with the Stock Exchange.

Now, you may recall at the time of the Off Licence Putsch that Mr King stated that he had a NOMAD lined up.

Indeed if you took him at his word on that one back in 2015 then you would be forgiven for thinking that the new regime was within tangible reach of maintaining their listing on the Stock Exchange.

The fact RIFC is not listed simplifies many things for Mr King.

However, General Ashley will want his money regardless and only the bill is to be established.

  1. Gordon Smith has a brass neck criticizing Craig Whyte’s tenure at Ibrox whilst he himself stood in the background as Director Of Football, happy to take a generous salary then when confronted in the historic car park by a Sky reporter distanced himself from all that was happening and claimed to know nothing about anything.
I think we can safely agree on that one!
The same Gordon Smith who during his tenure at the SFA, qualifications for job unknown, tried to change the date of the Scottish Cup Final without informing QOTS.
And the same Gordon Smith who only last week was quoted as saying that Rangers might not bother to fulfill away games at Killie as revenge for the ticket allocation being cut.
When half the country was laughing at his stupidity he then claimed that he had been misquoted which turned out to be an untruth.
This is the standard of individual running our game with Maxwell now in situ thanks to his sterling work at Partick Thistle.
Really? Last time I looked they had been relegated to the Championship and may well end up in Division One next season.
He’s been all but invisible as CEO and apparently is unaware that the SFA is a laughing stock and he’s done or said hee haw since his appointment to change the public’s perception.
Is he aware of the Res 12 issue and the refusal of the SFA to admit their part in awarding a UEFA licence to a football club who everyone in the know were fully aware of had an outstanding tax bill which remained unpaid following admin then death.

  2. I have never ever seen a worst Football team at taking corners in all of my life. basic basic stuff. I think McGregor is a real class act but even he cannot hit a fookin corner !!

  3. Off topic Phil…but on to vent my spleen.
On the basis that someone from Celtic FC reads your blog and reports back to the hierarchy….they can report this back.
This style of football that we play has to stop….or we need to get players in who can play it.
Opposition coaches with any nounce must rub their hands with glee when we send the same players out virtually in every game…to play exactly the same way.
Yes we play some very nice one touch football…which is pleasing on the eye….up until we get into the final third…then it all goes tits up.
Our final cross/pass/ one two/ or whatever is dreadful…no other word for it.
There is no composure …and its all hit and hope.
The defence in the main does its job…Broony commands the mid-field in virtually every game he plays ( starting to showboat a wee bit though….needs to cut that out)…but its up front where we are poor.
James Forrest…Scott Sinclair…Tom Rogic…..Callum McGregor…and Big Eddie …flatter to deceive and all of them need to bring consistency into their game. Doing it now and again won’t cut it.
I’m disappointed in Lenny in as much as he is just carrying on from the previous incumbent…and our style of play was beginning to be suspect back then.
Oh and before I forget…there is NO RULE that says you can’t shoot….honest…you can shoot if you want.
Might be something worth working on at Lennoxtown..?
    Finally….Will Lenny get the job…?
Well I have to say yes…if only because I don’t think there is enough time now to bring in a new guy and find new players before the Europe qualifiers…and it will suit our penny pinching Board down to the ground.
Given that that is the case…he has a big big task ahead of him….
    Good luck wi’ that Lenny.

  4. Not unhappy about the Tynecastle result yesterday as long as the bhoys do their stuff today, leaving the way clear for a huge party kicking off at Celtic Park next Saturday with a win over Killie.
Nothing beats winning the title with a home win confirming 8 IAR.
No doubt lots of squirrels will be released in the following weeks bigging up the intended marquee signings heading for Ibrox whilst the Champions prepare for a historic treble treble, probably never to be repeated, well at least till Dave’s vision of a Rangers returning to their place as the dominant club in Scottish football comes around.
By the way Dave, you can’t return to a place you have never been as you appear, as many do, to be getting confused between Newco and Oldco!

  5. Why would the auditors be concerned? Last year they signed off on the audited accounts which included in the commentary a statement from King that the £2/3m payment to Sports Direct was a one of and would see big Mike off the premises once and for all.
A clear black and white comment from the de facto football club Chairman.
It’s becoming of auditors when they ask questions of Directors and board members to take them at their word and it’s standard practice to point this out in when they sign off on the accounts and commentary provided by these individuals.
Effectively it’s their get out of jail card if they have been misled or misrepresented by the client.
The current SDI/Rangers court battle would appear to confirm that what the auditors signed off on in good faith was incorrect and naturally could raise questions about other aspects of information which their clients have provided.
It’s a funny old world is it not when the suspension of your top scorer and bigged up Liverpool loanee have improved the team.
Defoe, with some help from Arfield, has stepped up to the mark with El Buffoon and Kent not missed at all.
Of course in the case of Morelos that’s a double edged sword because if he doesn’t walk back into the team post suspension then his already diminishing value will take another hit which won’t be welcome news if a bill from SDI pops through the door added to a bad result in the great Sevco switcheroo.

  6. Phil – sevco do indeed have a NOMAD… he’s wandering around the Sahara Desert, trying to sell off a load of three-legged dromedaries to some rich Arab investors! Surely, you haven’t forgotten that they used to have a chairman called Lawrence? Coincidence?.. I think not!! 😆😆😆
