Mr Gerrard and the Blue Room

Firstly, I hope that 2019 is everything that you need it to be for you and yours.

I spoke today with an excellently placed source and I expected him to say that the Sevco High Command were in flying form after the unexpected victory over the champions.

Instead, he said that the dignified conclave after the match focused on the reality of three weeks without a match.

Yes, money really is that tight.

However, that will not wash with Mr Gerrard.

He has, so far, delivered.

Consequently, he wants to be backed in the January window.

Moreover, the fans are on his side.

In matching the personal terms of Steve Davis at Southampton the Blue Room chaps certainly are backing their guy.

The other side of that equation is that the folk who have to balance the books there are “frantically” trying to offload Eduardo Herrera and Carlos Peña.

On a related matter, I doubt that Alfredo José Morelos Aviléz would have served any ban for his full contact performance art at Ibrox.

Certainly, that would be the hope of several members of the Sevco High Command as they want him to be sold asap!

As has already been stated Mr Gerrard is otherwise minded on that matter.

          • He was 33. A 33 year old magician with magic wands for feet. Still the only player I have EVER seen who could take a corner kick or free kick, from either side of the park, with either foot and put the ball to within a cubic foot of where he wanted it to go. The day he looked up at a ball dropping vertically on to his head from a helluva height, took a half step to the side, let it bounce, then stuck his arse out and trapped it stone dead, will live with me forever. It’s not something you can even practice! Oh for a22

          • Lubo was 33 when he came. A 33 year old with magic wands for feet. He COULD make a ball do things with his feet which most people couldn’t make it do with their hands. He’s still the ONLY player I have EVER seen, who could take a corner kick or a free kick, from either side of the park, with either foot and put the ball within a cubic foot of where he wanted it to go. He also had a quickness of thought that few could match. I will NEVER forget the day that the ball was dropping vertically down straight on top of him from a helluva height, he took a half step to the side and let the ball drop past him. As it bounced he stuck his arse out and killed it stone dead. It was an outrageous piece of skill which I have never seen repeated. Oh for a Lubo in his early twenties. A Henrik, a Kenny, a Danny, a Paul, a Murdoch and a Jinky all of the same age. We would rule Europe again. Hell those guys in the same team could win the World Cup.
            A man can dream.
