I see that those fine fellows in Club 1872 have embarked upon a charm offensive with Glasgow City Council.
You can read their statement here.
This lashing out at anyone outside of the subculture was a feature of the death of the original Rangers.
Your humble correspondent was a target of this Pavlovian response in 2010 and 2011 when I reported that a financial tsunami was en route to Ibrox.
The default setting of the klan was to snarl and smear and they were convinced that I was wrong.
I wasn’t.
Having read the correspondence it would appear that due process was followed apropos the decision on the klanzone on public property.
Of course, that grates with their Herrenvolk sense of entitlement.
The desire for special treatment from the local state is buried deep within the cultural norms of the Ibrox klanbase.
Perhaps they would be better off if they were to ask about the wisdom of giving Mr Gareth McAuley a £25k per week contract.
I’m sure the 38-year-old free agent is delighted.
As will be Señor Alfredo José Morelos Aviléz with his new deal.
£30 k per week makes him the highest paid player at the basket of assets.
Therefore, within a week the Sevco High Command has added £1.68m to their operating costs for this season alone.
I smiled when I was informed that the Colombian striker has £10m buy-out clause in his contract.
That should fend off those pesky Chinese clubs…
While the Club 1872 are conducting what looks like a vendetta against several Glasgow City Councillors then they’re not looking at some very worrying numbers at Ibrox.
Sevco’s success in the Europa League undoubtedly brings in extra revenue.
However, it seems to be spent as quickly as it comes in.
For the avoidance of doubt, the Serious Professional is less than Zen-like about the campaign against the City Council.
That is probably why the same chap called an off-site meeting yesterday.
Overall it is very handy for the Sevco High Command that RIFC is not a listed company.
If it was then there would be some very concerning numbers for the market to peruse.
You may recall that during the Off Licence Putsch Mr David Cunningham King stated to the adoring stenographers that a NOMAD was ready and waiting.
He delivered this “fact” in a glib and shameless fashion.
Dear reader this is the sort of thing that the…ahem…journalist in Glasgow should be hunting down.
However, if they do then they will be subject to some high-Level discipline.
Woodward and Bernstein they are not…
Of course, it shouldn’t surprise anyone that the klan will ape Mr Allan McGregor when presented with facts that displease them.
Quite simply they lash out.
Moreover, they do so with impunity…
SPFL uphold Wallace/Miller appeal against club fine and now the players want the deducted wages returned to them plus their legal bills to be picked up by the club.
King will be scouring the rule book to see if the club can appeal the appeal, as is his wont.
Interesting situation for Wallace. Still on the books but in the midst of a legal dispute with the club.
He must be in the final year of his contract and will be on a healthy pre liquidation wage.
Another pay off on the way?
Not a peep from Hampden to explain the rationale behind the independent panel decision not to sanction ‘kick boxer’ McGregor.
Perhaps we will see him soon in the ring up against his namesake Conor?
I dare say the minutes of that secret panel meeting will be locked away somewhere in the depths of Hampden for posterity or have already passed through the shredder.
It’s laugh out loud time when these clowns ruining our game claim full transparency and accountability when the opposite is the case.
Can’t wait to see the publication of the new SFA football rules book written in conjunction with Rangers FC!
Well it’s Open Season on all opposing teams after that . The decision was supposed to have been taken by 3 x class 1 Referees knowing that lot it was probably 2-1 in favour of no further action. One wonders what kind of message the SFA want the fans to see NFFP is the only conclusion that I can think of.😡
I remember playing for my school football team against Ibrox primary on the pitch across the road from Ibrox stadium in the 80s. It was red ash at the time. Fast forward ten years into the 90s and I was back playing football on the same ground only this time the Ibrox complex had been built with a training room and changing facilities along side the synthetic surface and floodlights that replaced that old Red ash pitch. I wondered back then what access the primary school had to the new pitch as they had now lost their own pitch. There was a plaque in the reception area of the complex stating that it had been built using funds from various organisations, one of which was Rangers football club. If only their club survived they may have been able to use that financial assistance they gave to their favor when requesting use of it for a klanzone.😁😁
They have reported the councillors to the ETHICAL STANDARDS commissioner and yet they have purchased shares in the Ibrox club at 20p a pop! It truly beggars belief.
Plus ça change.
The members of the community in question have been lashing out at anyone outside their subculture since Night Of The Living Dead in 1968.
With Scottish football a laughing stock over the failure to punish players kicking people off the ball, the real question is what can be done about it? The SFA prove themselves as not fit for purpose on occasion after occasion. Well, when are the teams that make up the SFA going to say enough is enough and then actually force through some change and an overhaul of that bloated, corrupt entity?
If anyone foolishly thought that Maxwell would bring a breath of fresh air to the SFA then yesterday’s revelations will have killed any notion of that.
We have Ryan Jack openly demanding Collum is downgraded.
SFA response….. zilch, ref is thrown to the wolves by his employer.
Jack pulled up for his comments?…..not a chance. Has Fleming no duty of care to the officials under his direction?
Anyway, whats the point? The 3 man panel would be convened, a unanimous decision couldn’t be reached, complaint thrown out.
The decision re McGregor beggars belief. No one has stuck their head above the parapet to explain the decision.
Why? Because it’s inexplicable.
Yes, we know the SFA isn’t fit for purpose but this is taking the piss.
Once again the Rangers rule book has been unlocked and put to use.
Our media this morning should be all over this calling out the panel but it’s hardly caused a ripple.
Lest we forget both the ref and his main stand linesman allegedly didn’t see the original kick out. The linesman has previous for not seeing incidents.
Specsavers must be ruing their sponsorship of match officials.
So with the benefit of slow motion and various angles someone on the panel, or all of them, deemed a petulant kick out not worthy of any punishment!
This is not an honest mistake, it’s cheating, pure and simple.
First Morelos, now this.
And all the while King brazenly continues to act as de facto/shadow director/chairman of the football club, apparently with the full blessing of the SFA.
Celtic have to respond to this today in the strongest possible terms otherwise we are heading for a season where the destiny of a league or cup win can be influenced by an anonymous 3 man SFA panel.
No disrespect to the new Compliance Officer but it would be useful if the SFA could clarify her qualifications for the post as I’ve no idea who she is, where’s she came from, or what specifics on her CV make her the right person for the job.
Oops haud the bus on Clare Whyte. She has come from the Procurator Fiscal’s office, solicitor, and wait for it, she has experience of grass roots Scottish football!
Wow, that CV must have blown the rest of the candidates oot the windae……grassroots football, who would have thought?
I would be more inclined to believe that McGregor did not kick Ajer than McAuley will be paid 1.2m over a year by a club that has yet to cover its costs over a financial year. What the hell is going on?
Why do 3 ex refs all have to agree . What happened to majority rule ? I dont do conspiracy theories, however if Mcgregor had been with a smaller club the decision would have been easier and less consequential. Bottlers indeed. Mcgregor behaved more aggressively in the Motherwell game, on Hartley, hardly made a headline. Too many of these decisions involving all clubs leave our game looking Cheap. Well done to the Scottish women’s team what a wonderful achievement.
Celtic can expect more of the same treatment from the teams that can’t play football. The SFA are now allowing teams like sevco to kick their way around a pitch without a ball. The fix is in and it’s time the Celtic board asked questions otherwise our bhoys will be booted about for fun. Sevco were dross against us and their behaviour is a testament to how shite they are. Stand up and be counted Celtic!!! HH
FFS Phil !! Give poor Neanderthals a break!! It was NEARLY written in their Queens English. In fact it was as close as I’ve seen them come to achieving that particular feat.
Surprise, surprise, no action against McGregor for his petulant kick out.
If anyone was in doubt kicking an opponent off the ball is now officially sanctioned by the SFA, it’s then just a matter of how hard the kick is deemed to be.
Perhaps the refs will be fitted with some electronic device that can measure the power of the kick and only when it dips into the red can a red card be issued.
We are a fecking laughing stock. The Morelos whitewash set the precedent and it’s now open season.
The only football playing country in the world where kicking an opposition player off the ball isn’t an automatic red.
Tommy Gemmell would have just loved that.
I can just picture that. TG was once timed as the hardest hitting full back in Europe. I can just visualize him volleying wee More or less into the net past the flailing arms of McGregor. Or better still over the crossbar. Or even better than that OFF THE CROSSBAR. McGregor would probably have cleared him into touch on the rebound.
Ayala wouldn’t have 🤨
Or Haller ! ;<) HH
I’m in state of shock regarding the McGregor kick at Ajer. How obvious and blatant does it have to be to warrant sanctions? Even his own manager said he lashed out. Just unbelievably corrupt. Scotland’s shame strikes again.
Excellent post again Phil.
