Sevco get serious about Greg Docherty

I’m told that Seco have increased their bid for Greg Docherty.

A new bid was tabled this morning.

The quantum is now £400k.

The first payment of £150k will be made in August.

Therefore, nothing up front as per the Jamie Murphy bid.

The remainder of the fee would be paid over the next two years.

My information is that Accies have turned down this generous offer.

Developing embarrassment…

  1. £10,000,000 for Morelos .? Murty must really want to keephim 🙂

But seriously, no really, in negotiating it’s called “anchoring” – setting a marker of your starting point – to set expectations – and establish your value for something – from which to agree a reasonable discount. A high anchor from a seller can work really well to set the agenda and maybe unsettle the other guy – but only if the other guy can stop laughing long enough to haggle from his anchor of two pints of lager and a packet of crisps.

Today, I’ll mostly be singing Common Peepul by Pulp

I said, ‘pretend you’ve got no money’
    She just laughed and said,
    ‘Oh, you’re so funny’
I said, ‘Yeah, well I don’t see anyone else smiling in here’

  2. Hows Bruno’s move to Benevento going?
7 points from 21 games, cut adrift by 6 points at the bottom of Seria A and near certainties for relegation.
Doesn’t look like a solid base to build your World Cup hopes on.
There is no way that they can afford to pick up the contract he’s enjoying at Ibrox.
With a pay off of some kind on his current contract required are Bruno’s advisors less than impressed with a lump sum payable in August offer and the balance monthly thereafter?
Whilst the big man won’t be making claims of title winning medals with the Italian minnows perhaps his stated aims will be more about avoiding relegation.
Can’t see Bruno walking away quietly from his Ibrox pot of gold.
Cue faux outrage from Scottosh media if he proves difficult to move on and continues to pick up the blue pound.
Would he get the McInnes treatment……not good enough, overated, overpaid etc?
Ralston last week, Waddell this week, whose turn next werk for a sugar coated article praising the good business done by the Ibrox club with not a suggrstion that the signing policy is driven by lack of cash rather than good management.
None of the loanees would get a place on the Celtic bench, thats not conjecture, it’s a fact.
Whilst Murty is getting more from his players he is just a couple of bad results away from a crisis.
If Aberdeen get a result on Wednesday night and open up a 6 point gap then questions will be asked.
With some of Warburton’s signings still on the premises as well as Pedro’s left overs and now a bunch of loanees joining the squad, presumably going straight into the team, the dressing room must be a strange place to be.
An experienced manager would struggle to hold things together never mind a rookie in his first management role.

  3. I think everyone needs to understand that Greg Docherty’s father was a leading light in the Rangers First fans group, so he will end up at Rangers.

Kismet. They are tramps but unfortunately they think they are better than you.Arrogant bully tramps if you will.A tramp can be where he is because of mitigating circumstances outwith his control and as such people will assist financially if possible.Sevco is the tramp that thinks he is WATP guy who thinks you should give him money because he is the man.Sevco is the bastard child of Rangers and has inherited the arrogance of the former and will take them to the grave once more.I for one will rejoice in the death of scotlands shame.

  5. Kicking debt into the long grass as someone else’s problem after the current board/ mgmt walk away. With no intent of stumping up.
Sevco remain non compliant on uefa FFP regarding non converted loans (debt) to shares.
With their blind eye, UEFA are silently encouraging the collapse of this new club. Rather than responsible oversight. UEFA are the new SFA.
I trust all this Player purchase indebtedness is being recorded on accounts as debt.

    • As things stand, Sevco are in no European competition so why would UEFA be intervening?
If and when Sevco qualify for Europe is the point where UEFA will take an interest.

  6. I despair of individuals mostly, as opposed to companies.
What possesses these young men, who are actually in the business of football to be so enraptured by a bid from Sevco that they seriously consider it?
Have they no ambition………or at least nouse

  7. In the early 60’s…Raith Rovers had a £15,000 overdraft with the Bank…which they had fully utilised.
They also had a player called Jim Baxter…whom they valued at £30,000.
Rangers made an offer of £17,500…which Rovers rejected.
Rangers then “privately” told the Bank manager the situation…
And he then instructed Rovers to sell at the offered price.
    Rovers did…
    Some things never change.

And their tribute act are equally as bad.

  8. I have said for a long time now that there are two separate games running in parallel in football and until the ordinary fan decides it is time to confront the social/political problems then those that contribute on the various blogs like this one are wasting their breath.
The two teams in football are made up of 1, the players on the pitch and 2, the players in the boardroom. The first team are only ever likely to be noticed because of what they do with the ball. The other doesn’t want to be noticed by the fans and they are responsible for putting the money into the clubs’/own bank accounts. The SFA and SPFL are only concerned with the latter of these two. They reward themselves when the boards are making money, we the fans on the other hand , think that the importance lies with the sport. The authorities welcome the type of actions we are seeing from TRFC because it generates cash flow. Stuff the fact that the fans are disappointed by how it affects their team. We can shout all we like about sporting integrity and fairness it won’t make a damn bit of difference because they do not care. They are running a business. They do not care about the quality of product they are selling because the fans will keep on paying for it. Until we recognise that then they will keep on ripping us off. Other than the handful of people who spend time on sites like this one no-one will force their hand. The vast majority are only interested in the results on the pitch no matter whether they may have been achieved through crooked means. The vast majority of Celtic fans may chant “you’re not Rangers any more” but the they still glory in beating them. In my neck of the woods I have only ever met ONE Celtic supporter who knows what Resolution 12 is. We complain about the deviousness of the SMSM but we still act as the most gullible of click bait that they require for their advertising income.
The majority want things to change but don’t want to do anything about it. Protest and boycotts will never happen because the majority of fans do not want to miss their football, even if it is being played on a field that is far from level.
The only thing that anyone posting their objections on forums achieves is repetitive strain injury.
If you want things to change and you still want your football fix then go to your local playing fields and watch the amateurs play. You get to watch competitive football while at the same time strangle the bastards that are fixing our sport to line their pockets.

    • I have been saying this for a couple of years guys. The tories have killed of most of the unions but not the football supporters.
The lifeblood of football is the supporters take away the football supporter and the people who run or should that be “ruin” our game have to take notice. If not the game in Scotland is finished.
I am 75 years old and have supported the same club since I can remember.4 years ago I gave up my season ticket and the seat I had with my name on it and I will not be back (probably never) till the SFA/SPFL are cleared out.

    • Good post, and I’m one of those who still ‘glory’ in beating them, not because they’re the same club (they’re not) but because they have the same toxic bigoted fans who think they’re still rangers, the same WATP with the same superiority complex and KKK mindset.

    • Great post reiver. Could not agree with you more. Most fans , from all clubs not just Celtic, are either apathetic, ignorant or just brainwashed into accepting the status quo.
I have spoken to a lot of Celtic fans about resolution 12 only to be met with a blank stare and a sevcoesque glaikit face. Even after explaining the minutiae of the cheating, the European licence farrago, the liquidation, the financial chaos that typifies the Ibrox shambles they are not too interested.
As long as we are winning on the park everything is hunky dory. Ten in a row and everyone’s happy.
Been cheated for decades but hey our time has come.
No wonder the SFA can get away with not raking over ‘old coals’ .
We should be burying that poisonous shower. Unfortunately I believe that eventually they will probably survive in some form and maybe even challenge or surpass us. We need to make sure this does not happen. We are in a strong position and we have to make it count.

  10. Murty says they’re doing nothing wrong. Maybe they have no choice cos they have no money to spend. Doesn’t make it right. Hope the selling club have the guts to hold out for what they consider to be the players value.

  11. Newspapers, incl the Herald, print photos of players holding “get your season tickets here” posters. Anyone seen this for another club? OK, it’s not the journos that do this, but picture editors, with space fillers and others. In the end they want to get folk clicking their links. It’s some kind of back door advertising, but to me a bit low class and undignified. Trouble is if Mrs sees big photo like that she won’t buy the paper and I don’t get the crossword. ( I’m no fan of SMSM ).

    • my problem is with the SPFL they watched and allowed Rangers to almost destroy scottish football with there corrupt cheating. Now they are content to watch them trading while insolvent , they should be barred from signing players until they can show they have the money to pay for players.

  13. Placing derisory bids is not illegal but it’s clear to see Sevco are looking to disrupt the player enough for them to start kicking and screaming thus placing triggers broom FC in a slightly better position.

I really do despise them Phil

  14. Asked this the other day but was another post that didn’t get published so will try again: Since joining the top flight, how many players is that they have signed, either as loans or permanent deals. I think “warbsy” brought in ten in his first window and nine more in his second (and final) attempt to narrow the gap. El Ped then supplemented the ‘best squad in Scotland’ a good few more and that’s, what, five or six this window – so far?

Nice to see “Naisy” hasn’t forgotten how to dive, the ibrox way.

  17. I wonder if sevco would accept a bid for Windass that involved nothing up front, an initial payment in August of £50k and the rest of the £150k fee over the next 2 years. Wouldn’t think so. I realise £150k is an exaggerated valuation in this particular example.

  18. The World’s Most Embarrassing Club along with the SFA must be called out on this. Supporters Club chairmen should write to SFA demanding action. Strange how previous space wasters at the SFA e.g. Farry, Walker, Roxburgh etc. couldn’t be kept off the back pages or tv/radio, yet we hear almost nothing from Regan and Doncaster other than nonsense like “It’s the same club” or “Improperly registered” or even “Women’s football is great”! Get them told we’ll boycott Cup games and away league games until they govern properly or, better still, they just go.

    • Boycott’s don’t work in Scotland unless it is total boycott. The SFA/SPFL know this that’s why they are not bothered but a total boycott will bring them to their knee’s but there are not enough people with the brain power to see it.

  19. Clubs can quickly bring this nonsense to an end.
Put the details of the prospective terms in the public domain and let people make up their own minds.
August downpaynent and the balance over 2 years is a joke with the usual cheerleaders in the media talking up any offers, no matter how ridiculous they are.

    • McLean signed on a pre contract with Norwich to be loaned back for the rest of the season.
Looks as if Newco walked away from this one as Aberdeen had enough of their negotiation methods around the McInnes farce and couldn’t risk details being made public if they tried to get McLean on the never, never, or great business as described by Gordon Waddell.

  20. Hamilton would make the deposit money alone by finishing a place or two better off in the league. They should tell sevco to come back in August with the full amount and then you can have the player. If this was any other club the sfa/spfl would be coming down hard on them for bringing the game into disrepute.

    • Why not the full payment in January, assuming they get the player in January and assuming it meets the valuation of Hamilton?

SFA should be seen to be doing something about this situation if indeed it is officially announced.
