Now the league over it is important that The People do not lose all hope.
They must believe that Poor Pedro will assemble a formidable group of players in the very short close season.
Of course, that will take money.
Season ticket money to be precise…
I, for one, will be interested to see how the likeable Portuguese chap deploys his meagre transfer budget.
My understanding is that, at the time of writing, it is in the region of £550k-£700k.
I am informed that Pedro has been told that this could rise to between £1m-£1.5m.
My understanding is that he has been instructed that any player acquisitions must be on a strictly wage neutral basis.
Barton, Hill and Senderos off the wage bill are definitely a help.
However, anyone expecting a new squad of senior pros next season might well be disappointed.
It has been notable that Pedro has been giving the youngsters a chance in the past few games.
That might be a smart move if his budget is not massively increased over the next few weeks.
For the avoidance of doubt, Celtic will spend more on one player than Pedro will have to rebuild the squad he inherited from the Admirable Warburton.
Just let that sink in…
Perhaps it doesn’t seem so hopeless after a glass of nice Portuguese wine.
I might try that this week when I’m in Lisboa.
Boa noite.

Celtic will spend more on their pitch this season than Sevco will on their swuad
Off topic Phil, but icing on the cake , too see the “British” raging at the Celtic presence in the Scotland squad.” Our ” last big game of the season against England. We have always known where their true allegiances lie, they can sing along to GSTQ. They remain, as you have always said, the wrong side of History. We have always known our day would always come. We shall not be moved.Enjoy Lisbon. Thanks for all your contributions this season.
Phil first posting anywhere! Enjoy lisbon! Wee side note: mucker stays in achill dooagh l know you know that part of country well stunning! God bless hail hail JAMESY
See you there hopefully if the bike and my lungs hold out Phil
See you in Lisbon Phil..HH
Just think of all that money they blew trying to buy the lower leagues, spent on mercenaries, most of whom were discarded once they finally secured promotion to the top flight, replaced by such luminaries as Barton, Senderos and Garner. That’s when they should have been using their youth, surely the product of the esteemed Murray Park production line would have been more than capable of seeing of part timers? BY the time they’d reached the upper echelons they’d have had a few seasons of regular football under their belt and maybe then they could have been augmented with either seasoned pros or flair players. That’s how a sensible club might have approached it but then this is the mighty, er, newco.
Although, another way of looking at it, £500k is not that far away from what Moussa cost us while £1.5m is close to what they shelled out for goal machine garner.
Looking back a couple of posts I see that Swavvy says he would be worried about meeting Tecumseh in Lisboa…..
For the avoidance of doubt Tecumseh will be in a state of grace after the 8.15 am traditional Latin Mass.. ..so no worries there.
Have booked last minute and all that…are there any tickets for the dinner available…or are we too late….
Any info on best time to visit the stadium..??
Looking forward to it all
Yours….PAX….
No disrespect meant, Tecumseh, you’re one of the top men on here for your range of cryptic insights and unique expressions and I’d love to be able to join both yourself & Phil in Lisbon for a jar (or two) and some mighty honouring of our mighty Lions.
Alas, the steam never blows when the kettle needs it most … 😉
Hope you both have a belter.
HH
Its ok, he said he has the best squad in Scotland lol. Every manager at Ibrox comes out with the same rubbish, it’s almost as if they have some guy behind the scenes telling them what to say……wait a minute
Phil – it will have to be Portuguese wine… I think the cost of shipping it from South Africa is somewhat prohibitive for Glib and shameless wine exporters!
Will the Daily Record have a headline of “CR7 & Bale for Ibrox!! Lifelong Rangers fans leave Real for Ibrox!!!”
