I’m told that there was a rather fractious meeting of the Sevco High Command yesterday.
I understand that among several items on the agenda the situation with the roof was THE most important one.
The Sevco High Command have now been given some PR advice from an intergalactic chap far far away.
Apparently, the sage counsel is to ignore your humble correspondent and ride it out.
Of course, if they can the stenographers will provide the usual feel good distractions.
Interestingly the High Command was not advised to issue a flat denial and state, on the record, that there are no issues with any of the roofs at Ibrox Stadium.
The board discussed the fact that the chaps at Glasgow City Council want answers.
Indeed, the municipal view is that now that the story is out there a dignified silence really won’t do.
I understand that a very precise missive containing that view was sent from the folks in the City Chambers to the Sevco High Command very recently.
This might explain why the City Council have not replied to my specific questions on the status of Ibrox stadium.
The reappearance of Mr Aiden Earley and the Worthington Group was also discussed.
The expert advice I’ve been given is that this new storyline to the Sevco sitcom could impact on the High Command’s plans to re-visit Resolution 11.
Mr David Cunningham King thought that this was stuff and nonsense, although I understand that Mr Stewart Robertson might be otherwise minded on this matter.
I now believe that the Puma chaps may have been about to pounce on the Lion Brand issue.
If that is true, and I believe it to be so, then that would make sense of the recent announcement effectively cutting them loose from any association with the four-year-old institution.
That last thing that the High Command needed was ANOTHER legal case with one of their corporate partners.
General Ashley is, remember in court against Rangers International Football Club (RIFC) next March.
The RIFC year-end accounts stated that the litigation was no biggie and wouldn’t amount to more than £1m.
The view from Shirebrook is that they’re gunning for at least £5m.
At one point in the dignified conclave, it was suggested that Chairman King should take something of a step back from matters Sevco.
I think it’s fair to say that the room was pretty much evenly split on this proposal.
Of course, when it comes to a vote Chairman King has TWO votes.
The picture being painted to me by an impeccable source is of a divided disunited board.
One director stated that if there was ever a time for the famed war chest to make an appearance, then this was it!
My Ibrox source stated that it would come as no surprise to him if there were resignations from the board in the near future.
The four-year-old institution remains a loss-making business without a credit line from a bank.
It can’t be easy being the Espanyol of Glasgow when you’re trying to sell the message to your clientele that you’re equal in power to Celtic.
On a seasonal note, I understand that Super Salary was recently invited by the High Command to be their guest at New Douglas Park.
I hope he attended that match against Accies as the Blue Room chaps have some making up to do.
I hope you all enjoy the Solstice.
We need the light.

Grave concerns over a stadium that is about to be buffeted with 70 mph winds from storm Barbara and no inspection of the roof taking place before thousands of people are packed into it…Do you think it is possible that the fabric of the stadium will be checked between the storm doings its best and Celtic turning up to thump them?
I heard that Super was at the recent Warriors v Racing rugby game in Glasgow (and showed his face foe a wee TV interview… rugby expert that he is).
However, what is the Blue Room chaps “making up” about, svp?
I assume it’s got nowt to do with lipstick, blush and eye-liner… ?
Barbara’s coming. Squeaky bum time at The Death Dome.
An interesting post from Avid Reader on the JJ site:
‘2017 looks like the year the house of cards that is European football will come tumbling down. Rather than paraphrase what I have read, here is a direct quote:
“Rotten and Dishonest
That’s why it is so painful to see how the modern system of professional football works — a system so rotten and utterly dishonest. All the contracts, account statements and correspondence that DER SPIEGEL and its partners with the investigative journalism network EIC have seen in recent months prove that professional football resembles an organized crime syndicate more than it does any kind of sporting ideal.”
http://www.spiegel.de/international/europe/opinion-football-leaks-shows-us-that-football-is-ill-a-1124705.html
This is where the information is coming from:
“FOOTBALL LEAKS REVELATIONS: THE FIRST WEEK IN SUMMARY
Football Leaks is the largest leak in the history of sport – 1.9 Terabytes of information and a total of 18.6 million documents. Over 60 journalists in 12 countries are involved in the project, working for over seven months to reveal corruption among top officials, clubs, agents and players. The project also investigates those behind the scenes and the dirty deals that turn the beautiful game into an industry that extracts millions in cash.”
https://eic.network/blog/football-leaks-revelations-the-first-week-in-summary
Interestingly, the European media conglomerate that is collaborating on this investigation does not include any Scottish media.’
Can it really be true that there’s a genuine worldwide journalistic investigation that will expose all the rottenness at the heart of the people’s game with the intent to expose all of it?
If so, brilliant, but let’s see just how long it will last.
Interesting about Super-Salary right enough Phil.
Mmm…
What I find incredible inball this is the apparent lack of responsibility the council seems to have. Seems to.me they get a report from a club, tick or crops the boxes and press print on the local HP Desktop and stick it in the post, then once the ink is dry it’s sent in good faith.
Boy don’t I feels safe !!!
There are probably more checks in place when it comes to changing the ink cartridges on the printer.
Top work again Phil if only the Glasgow based “journalists” made half the effort you might get more me time to roam the lovely valleys HH
Interesting times ahead. Not sure if I want them dead or alive, let’s see what Santa brings? Either outcome will be exciting on so many levels so let’s all look forward to another Happy New Year! Phil, keep your blow torch on full charge.
I’m guessing December wages and expenses go through on Friday (2 days time) pre Christmas like all good employers. Any Christmas bonuses? Parties? Thank you functions?
That’ll be another £1m out the bank. They will have drawn down the £2.9m emergency loan in October with Oct, Nov & Dec salaries now.
It will start 2017 as Scotland’s most heavily indebted club with little cash in bank, for its operating costs, and will be four times over the UEFA FFP rules.
Everyone should daily tweet Scots sports journos on FFP and not let up. Try getting quotes out of UEFA too. Or other countries Associations. What does the English FA think about it?
Critical maintenance to keep the roofs safe in the short term is one thing. But what is the medium term strategy to replace them and where is the funding for that?
So the council certifies the roofs are safe for a thirty year storm, a fifty year storm and a 100 year storm? Or is it fingers crossed? It’s been thirty years since the Great Storm of 1987. I’d hate to live downwind of Ibroken.
Swavvy:
In the mid 1960s our dad caught me and my older brother laughing at the antics of B. McM the local jakie.
Dad warned us that if he ever saw us do that again he would leather us “until your arses are red raw.” No further explanation (we were too young).
Years later, not from dad I learned that B. McM had been given a cloth to cover his mouth and nose and put onto a bulldozer at Belsen, aged 19/20, to shovel corpses into a mass grave to prevent disease outbreaks.
The Belsen reference is crass stupidity.
Cortes:
On the subject of crass stupidity, Belsen was a relatively small area, the Aztec Empire spanned a continent, until your namesake led the genocide.
‘Hernán Cortés de Monroy y Pizarro Altamirano, Marquis of the Valley of Oaxaca was a Spanish Conquistador who led an expedition that caused the fall of the Aztec Empire and brought large portions of mainland Mexico under the rule of the King of Castile in the early 16th century.
Cortés was part of the generation of Spanish colonizers who began the first phase of the Spanish colonization of the Americas.
Early lionizing of the conquistadors did not encourage deep examination of Cortés.
Later reconsideration of the conquistadors’ character in the context of modern anti-colonial sentiment also did little to expand understanding of Cortés as an individual.
As a result of these historical trends, descriptions of Cortés tend to be simplistic, and either damning or idealizing.[citation needed]’
‘Citation needed’.
But no explanation necessary …

A very happy healthy Christmas to you and your family.
Keep on poking them with a stick.
What did Phil’s family do to warrant such treatment, Big L?
Isn’t King/Sevco taking Ashley/SD, Green, Whyte to court at some point also or was that just bluster?
We need the light alright, Phil!
It’s shining a little bit longer every day from now on, mind.
All the best to you and yours over our annual holiday around the sun.
Sometimes this feels like the new Belsen.
Not meaning to be a cunny funt but is it not a bit disrespectful to Espanyol to compare them with this carcass of a club?
Apart from the fact that’s not a puma, 10 out of 10 Phil 😉
It’s a black panter-but they look magnificent!

Ha! Thanks for the link Phil. Yes Magnificent creatures. Maybe cryptozoologists will be searching for the fabled, dreaded IBROX BEAR in years to come 🙂
Have a great Christmas.
90 mph winds due ..can you imagine if the CFC Stands or roofs had a problem as per a number of years ago ..and in the same storm Rangers roofs were fine ?
I assume the CFC board have this all well protected and under control …but I can’t think of anything funnier for us wee diddy club fans or more embarrassing for CFC in the last few years were this to occur
Phil, as a fellow “Socialist” I find it strange that give a certain credence to Mr Ashley’s continued war of attrition with Sevco as he is the worst possible example of what makes our society the way it is today, He exploits his employees, pays little to no heed to employment law, etc, etc.
Personally as much as I hate TRFC, i’d much prefer that they disappeared without the assistance of Mr Ashley.
……. I would have replied earlier but it’s like a crime scene in here – Jelly and ice cream all over the floor ! Keep up the good work Phil, thanks
Yawn…100,000 fans at the last two Ibrox games zero problems.
Also GCC issued Ibrox a safety certificate a few months back but why let small things like facts get in the way.
P.S. When will you address the hooligan elements in the Celtic support who shame Scotland every season. 11 fines in 5 seasons now…..your and the SMSM media covering this up is ridiculous.
so you like facts jimbo celtic toilets trashed, aberdeen chairs ripped up and launched into home support but what about biggest of all facts rangers are in liquidation ,then manchester the list goes on
The hooligan element? Haha you must be at it. Almost all of them are for banners and pyro, hardly the stuff of a bunch of hooligans ala Manchester.
I remember reading about these fines in the SMSM so please explain how they are covering it up unless they were saying it was “Chelsea fans”.
