The news that Youssef Chermiti has suffered an anterior cruciate ligament injury is very bad news for the young man and his employers.
Firstly, as stated yesterday, I wish the lad a speedy recovery.
I’m told by a very experienced sports physio here that it is the type of injury that, even when fully repaired, might leave the player permanently diminished in terms of athleticism.
Obviously, that is an important factor in an explosive sport like soccer.
As for Youssef‘s employers, this is seriously bad news.
In this window, the financial planning was built on two pillars.
Sell Chermiti and Raskin.
As previously stated here, those anticipated funds had already been earmarked.
Despite all the gushing from the Stenography Corps, for the first time since the 1980s, a club playing home games at Ibrox is being run on a sustainable basis.
The new owners did gamble in January when automatic entry to the Champions League was the prize for winning the title.
Of course, they didn’t make it.
