Just in from UEFA

This just in from UEFA.

Dear Sir,

Disciplinary proceedings have been opened following the UEFA European League group stage match between Feyenoord and Rangers FC (2-2), played on 28 November in the Netherlands.

Charges against Feyenoord:

– Setting off of fireworks – Art. 16 (2) of the UEFA Disciplinary Regulations (DR)

– Stairways blocked – Art. 38 of the UEFA Safety and Security Regulations

Against Rangers FC:

– Setting off of fireworks – Art. 16 (2) DR

The UEFA Control, Ethics and Disciplinary Body will deal with this case at its meeting on 27 February.

Please note that latest information on major and high media interest disciplinary cases is published here.

Addendum

UEFA have confirmed to me that the match delegate for that fixture was Andrey Medintsev from Bulgaria.

Perhaps that is why, despite numerous media reports apropos bigotted singing, that there was no mention in the charges apropos discriminatory chanting by the away fans.

  1. Since racism across the continent is now so high profile right now, I would have thought that it would have been logical to appoint UEFA delegates with a working knowledge of the languages of the attending fans, particularly when BOTH have history there.

  2. UEFA should appoint match delegates that have an excellent level of English and are aware of the context and potential breeches in any given match!!!
Anybody can see a firework, fgs.
As it stands, you might be punished in the delegate is up to standard, and you can do what you want if the guy is on a jolly.
    Consistency needed!!!
