This Neil Lennon is relaxed, amiable, intelligent, and comes equipped with self-deprecating humour.
This is not a scary nasty Lennon that is portrayed in the Scottish media.
Why the difference?
Split personality?
Alien abduction?
Identical twins on a job share?
No it’s much more prosaic, this time Neil was being interviewed in Dublin.
Although this is a soft seat soft focus format Miriam O’Callaghan is a very tough lady.
She also fronts RTE’s flagship current affairs programme “Prime Time”. Many an Irish politician has been skewered by her.
Around 11 minutes in she cuts to the chase about the motivations behind those who had tormented, threatened and attacked Lennon during his time in Scotland.
“It’s because you believe you’re an Irish Catholic?”
The interview with Miriam wouldn’t happen in a Scottish studio because the real Neil Lennon, on this clip, is at odds with the snarling Fenian thug of Bonny Bigotland’s racist imagination.
